This song is a genius portrait of not only misogyny women experience from men, but internalized misogyny women face when pitted against each other. These lyrics are so culturally important right now more than ever. Ladies, love each other. Don’t bring each other down. It’s an epidemic. I’m so glad there’s an mainstream artist who cares enough to write about this. She's not super mainstream now, but she will be. ❤
Just please would be good to be more responsable about your own behave as women. The ways women destroy each other is not related with men in this song. Women Internalizing misogyny? There's no such a thing like that. The hate from man to man is an internalization of Misandry? No, is just called hate. Not all women's pain comes from men, women have their own twisted perversions too.
Im obsessed with how the emotion in these lyrics plays out like a mental breakdown where it starts off slightly frustrated and slowly becomes more manic and rant like before simmering down to a sort of hopeless silence by the end of the video and it just feels so real and uncontrollable because talking about these sorts of things always feels like this it literally give me chills- incredible job :)
@@kay-roy-d3iMusic has never been just a beat with words. And "just a beat" is problematic. A beat is a term for the instrumental aspects of music, which is the majority of all music, since a voice can only sing one or two notes at the same time, and can't sing triads or chords with more notes. If you don't listen to any music without vocals, you may be lacking certain intellectual faculties.
@@azratahiraj7507 I think what was meant was that this goes visually, conceptually, and philosophically beyond just the music, and before you come at me, I was raised by a musician that I hold in the highest regard. Music is very much a part of the paintings I produce now. This goes beyond that. I took dance until an accident made that no longer possible, and this goes beyond dance. I've seen many performance art pieces, but this goes beyond that. I've seen many spoken word poetry performances, and this goes beyond that. I don't think this was a dis to musicians, I think it was a statement about the complexity of this piece of art. And for the record, there are a lot of pieces of music that I would not consider art, and feel confident in dealing with literally thousands of musicians in my lifetime when I say there are more musicians that agree with that statement than not. Musicians tend to be some of the BIGGEST music snobs.
as a designer and a person, someone who loves authors like sylvia plath and adgar allan poe, i really enjoy your music from beats to lyris to vocals to filmography. its pure art. as an artist who paints on darker side and plays with symbolism and emotions, i can resonate with the music a lot and i appreciate the honesty and your poetic skills. truly your work, thnx for producing such art. thank you
In every aspect, she is a genius. The lyrics, the talent--in modern society where songs about dr*gs, g*ns, s3x, etc. are king, this is the type of artist we need. No BS, just real music about real struggles and topics that everyone else tries to avoid talking about thinking it'll just go away if we paint rainbows over the dark, disturbing headlines.
Lyrics: Everybody supports women until a woman's doing better than you Everybody wants you to love yourself until you actually do It was something about her hair So perfectly fallen She was nice and smart and funny and got everything she wanted And she does charity Isn't that the most obnoxious thing you've heard Her popularity She's too pretty for her own good She's probably self-centered We hate her and she's nothing If everybody leaves her Then she had it coming Is there anything you'd like to put on the record? You know While everyone is listening? I would like it to be known that I'm not like her I'm mocking her 'cause I'm not like her I'm not like those girls who are not like those girls I love doing makeup, I don't mock women like her I'm not like her As soon as she hits it, I'm kicking her out She's had enough of the love and I'm bringing her down Everyone together on the count of three One, two You're mundane, we agree Your ambition is swallowable if you tell the story right Say that you hate yourself and self criticize But if we smell desperation on your neck and face We'll drag you across your own public stage We burn her name in the back Anything with her name attached Her newspaper's in the trash I just keep thinking man What a waste What a shame I was starting to like her But now she got great We'd never hate her to her face But I hope she knows She knows she knows she knows Hmm I don't like your tone I don't like how much you've grown It's so boring to not be yanking muscle off of a woman's bone Everybody hates the, everyone hates the un-relatable And I love to place two of 'em in the arena of the public's eye And try and get 'em to fight about something dumb and we pick sides 'Cause staring at her too long made our life look like muted pastels We'll love you if you just make us feel better about ourselves And what a waste What a shame I was starting to like her But now she got great We'd never hate her to her face But I hope she knows She knows she knows she knows And what a pain I watch us spit her name while she's turned the other side We never told it to her face But I think she knows, she knows she knows she knows Everybody supports women til a woman's doing better than you Everybody wants you to love yourself until you actually do It was something about her hair So perfectly fallen She was nice and smart and funny and got everything she wanted And she does charity Isn't that the most obnoxious thing you've heard Her popularity She's too pretty for her own good She's probably self-centered We hate her and she's nothing If everybody leaves her Then she had it coming Everybody supports women until a woman's doing better than you Everybody wants you to love yourself until you actually do It was something about her hair (If you are looking for new music, check out "I Love You" by Asia Rayne - releasing October 21!)
@@mrnobody7247and what a waste, what a shame….that you felt the need to tear someone down for commenting with the lyrics…which hurts absolutely no one 🥱😴 Did you just feel like it should be your turn to talk or something?
I absolutely love the line "she does charity, isn't that the most obnoxious thing you've heard?" it so perfectly sums up how it can get to a point for some people where even good deeds are automatically read in bad faith, when that happens there is literally no winning.
It is a modern horror being born a woman. Lifetime of being critically examined, picked apart, expected to take the blame Plus fix flaws of the wreckage from men inher life, plus take the consequences with grace and a smile, being dominated and devastated from societies trauma, until we die. No man could be expected to truly understand the impact and how deep the abuse is towards all women around the globe.
I saw her live last weekend opening for Trilogy and she is A PERFORMER BABY I was so thoroughly entertained by her opening act. She has a stunning voice she's just amazing to see.
😈HEHE😈 this song is going to be soooooo good!! I found your music through Instagram! I’m so glad the new generation of music has strong and talented artists.
I've watched this video and listened to this song countless times, and I can't pull myself away. There's a fire inside me, burning and wanting to burst out. Every line of the song evokes a deep emotional response, triggering thoughts and feelings. This video deserves so much more attention than it's getting right now.
Ive never loved an artist the way I adore your lyrics. Please do not say anything about yourself you dont feel is necessary. Your art is so important and people will diminish it with what they think they know about you. This is so meaningful. Beyond what you as a person can be. Art is so exciting and expensive. Do not let them take advantage and diminish you. I support you.
“We’ll love you if you just make us feel better about ourselves” Sophia done did it again. And by it I mean dropped the best feminine rage song since … well. Since her last one
She’s definitely an original. Although this is in the same key as Tori Amos’ “The Waitress” and that’s one mashup I’d actually like to hear. “I believe in peace…bitch” *CHILLS* 😍😍😍
I've been waiting for the full song to be released ever since I heard about it!!!!!!!! And everyone that is hating on her fails to see the irony that they are proving the point she is making in this song.
people at my school call me selfish cause i didn’t stand up for myself but little me got called weak for standing up for myself, they always hate me, people hate me because i talk about climate change a lot cause we see the effects of it daily, i worked hard for my looks and i still get called ugly, i have lots of friends, but i used to only have one. this song is me.
i wish i could tell you it gets better as you grow up, but at 30 i'm having the same problems like this as I did in high school - the only way to not have haters is to simply do and be nothing, and at some point that breaks a person. i hope that you don't let that happen to you. keep being authentic, the world needs more of it.
Guys don't take advice or words from people that you don't aspire to be like. The things they say says more about them than you. Let's stop abusing ourselves with the past and lets learn to love ourselves for the ones we are ❤
In a similar way, when a woman is no longer healthy- often times from an invisible illness- it seems society as a whole turn can easily its backs to the once vivacious and creative women that do not get the proper diagnosis and care they desperately need to heal an illness and thrive again. It’s also a misogyny based on the idea that a woman’s worth comes from her physical appearance. I love this song so much. Thank you Sofia Isella!
She is going to be a legend, I have been listening to all of her songs on repeat for days, nonstop. She's only 18 and she's already a genius, her songs are like gifts I'm honestly not even sure how to describe it, there's never been anything like it. She's a poet, a lyricist, a writer, she captures so much of life with each song, and the violins!!!!!!!!
As soon as I heard the first line I was hooked on this song. I can relate to it so much. I’ve seen a lot of hate comments about this artist and this song and clearly those who hate it or don’t get it are the exact people the song is about. Well let me tell you my personal story: I was with my (now ex) boyfriend for 6 years. To some that might not seem like a long time but I’m in my mid 20s so 6 years is like a quarter of my whole life so far. Everything was fine until I started doing better than him. You see we met through car racing. At the time we met he was competing as a driver and I hadn’t started competing yet. But over the years I also started to compete and we even compete together for a year or two. But then he quit racing and I continued to race and gained a fair amount of popularity. Nothing crazy but a little popularity. That’s when it all went downhill. He couldn’t stand the fact that I was getting more attention than him (despite the fact he QUIT racing, how are you going to get any attention if you’re not competing??). A six year relationship went down the drain because his fragile insecure narcissistic ego couldn’t handle the fact the woman in the relationship was doing better than him. So he dumped me. I did nothing but love and support him. When we first met I would cheer him on from the sidelines. Like a good girlfriend should. But as soon as the tables turned and he was the one on the sidelines, only then it was a major problem. He broke my heart into a million pieces and he literally told me that was the exact reason, that he couldn’t cope with my “fame” (I put fame in “ because seriously it’s not like I was some celebrity ffs), that he preferred it when I was the one watching him race and that he couldn’t stand me promoting myself on Instagram and Facebook (I would also like to add I promoted him more than he even promoted himself) like it was a crime that I wanted to get anywhere in life. So it was totally fine when he was racing but it wasn’t fine when I was doing it. Needless to say while it felt absolutely devastating at the time, I’m glad I’m not with him anymore. Who wants to be with someone with that kind of attitude towards women in this day and age? So yeah, everybody supports women, until a woman is doing better than you.
im freaking overjoyed she did melanies opening act because she's actually gold. i heard this song live before i even knew she existed and im SO GLAD I DID BECAUSE WHEN I HEARD HER I MELTEDDD her vocals are heavenly keep singing ml❤❤
This is sooooooooooo true and it needed to be said. It is so raw and it is amazing how it completely captures the feeling of envy.Congrats to the whole team!! U guys did a great job and Sophia's voice modulation was unbelievable, exceptional and just a cherry on the top!!!💋💋💋
Loved seeing you open, hope you travel more for your tours! I'd love to see you in CA, but it'd be surreal to see you in Cesar's on your own tour with your own openers 😭
I am in love. I found your music through RU-vid shorts lol, and then I followed you on TikTok. And now I am a huge fan! The emotion you put into your music is insane and the lyricism is just incredible. I hope you go far bc you really deserve it, and after this I am really ready for a revolution. ❤😭❤️
I just watched/heard this for the first time. This was beautifully done. Everything from the poetry and power of the lyrics, the strength of her movements, and the artistry of the camera work. Speaking on such hard truths for women in such a way... It was truly moving and gave me goosebumps from the first bass drop. She has a fan for life.
I really hope you make it big. I found you through Instagram and your a big inspiration to me. This song is amazing and you have such a powerful voice.
i love how this represents how no matter what you do to fit in to society's pressures to always be perfect, kind, smart, funny, charitible and pretty, no matter how perfectly you fit into society's mold, you're a horrible person, you're screwing everything up, and everyone hates you.
I'm here because of Gary Numan and this is outstanding! The lyrics, the vocals, the timing with the music, the contemporary dancing, the acting, the visuals......everything!
Me too... heard that his wife got him tickets to her show, and he said he was blown away, so of course I had to see what he was talking about. Yes, agree; she's AWESOME!
This songs is sooo alivee its something nobody talkes about but indeed happens with everyone , it nothing like the other song saying women supports women and shit but it is actually talking to us bout something which is real this song is just so alive

She's...my god. She's my anthem. She's everything you can ask for in an artist, she's everything.I genuinely love her so much it's confusing.I hope people realize how great she is and acknowledge her more because she's everything.I want to actually stick around just to see her become recognized for not just her talent but how she chooses to represent it.Everyone together on the count of three...what a waste ppl don't appreciate her enough.I'm obsessed and i got this song on repeat so much but i just want this song to infest in me like a parasite
I believe she is a actually a siren. Sinking ships with her lyrical genius. She's already dropped so many truth bombs I'm not sure the future could handle this woman when she's even older and wiser. ❤️ I'm already a fan for life.
Hey, so... I found you song in Instagram, and I kept singing and being pumped to you dropping it, and here I am, LOVING EVERY MINUTE, LOTS OF LOVE FROM BRAZIL, GIRLYYY
She makes me feel the way Alanis Morrisett did when I first heard her music. I love the story telling. And and and her voice is even better and beautiful!!!!
I literally started listening to the song and imma add it on my playlist. I’m listening because she’s performing at my Trilogy Tour concert and I’m impressed. Love this
