The only thing clean in bulgaria is the city centres, which is only 10% of the cities limits😂. Sofia was ranked the dirtiest city in Europe along with many other cities in bulgaria. I can say its true as I'm bulgarian.
Bulgaria has developed a lot. I remember when I traveled there in 1995, it was not at all like it is now Bulgaria has entered the Schengen area by air and sea. In the future, the euro will replace its currency
