One of best budget single cell single LED 21700 lights. That XHP70.3 beam is really nice, a combination beam that's got a nice distance hotspot punch, but also quite floody with gradual gradient bleeding from the orange peel reflector. This is probably the ideal light you want on a hiking trail at night.

@@FlashlightEnthusiast I just realized you double tap to disengage the auto-lockout, have you tried 4 tap? 2-tap > temporarily disable auto-lockout and back to lock state in 1miunutes 4-tap > completely disable auto-lockout feature I just wonde if this is new firmware thing🤔

Compact enough to carry, why not carry? I’d to confirm auto lock out on SC33 can be disable by continuously 4 clicks to turn on/off auto lock out mode.

Hello! I was interested in buying the SC33, however watching your reviews I realized that the SP33S keeps the brightness on high for several hours without reducing power, unlike the SC33. But you used different batteries in the tests. Can you tell me if using Sofirn's original battery, the SC33 would be able to remain constant like the SP33S? And overall, which one do you like more? Both are almost the same price. Thanks!
@FlashlightEnthusiast
@FlashlightEnthusiast 11 месяцев назад
Hello, thank you for the question. I used different batteries, however both of them are of excellent quality, so it would not affect the performance. Those stepdowns you see in SC33 are programmed into the driver, unlike in SP33S where it is programmed to stay on constant level untill the end of the battery voltage. So If you are focused on constant brightness as long as possible, I would recommend SP33S then. Cheers!

Thank you for a great review! But how many amps do you think this light draws on turbo? The included battery is only rated 10A, and my guess is that it draws more than that? Is it safe to use the included battery if the light draws 14A from a 10A cell? Also, I have the updated driver where you can turn off auto-lockout, but it sometimes fails randomly and button stop working and light is stuck in whatever mode. I have to reset light by removing the head to get it to work again, not something I like to do in total darkness. :D Also I get a little nervous when it's always active with these errors, would be better with a tailcap that could cut the circuit IMO. Otherwise I really like this flashlight! Such a nice tint!
@FlashlightEnthusiast
@FlashlightEnthusiast 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for sharing your experience 👍 I think even with 5k lm XHP70.3 Hi needs about 6-7A max, so 10A battery should not be a problem here. With electronic switches it is always a risk that it could turn on, bit this is by far the most popular switch type on the market, malfunctions are marginally rare ;)

@@FlashlightEnthusiast I just tried two different protected batteries in this light, both rated 10A, and both tripped on the turbo. So this light does actually draw more current than the included battery is rated for.
@nightoil6567
@nightoil6567 9 месяцев назад
Concerning the light failing randomly, with the button not working and the light stuck in its current mode, that sounds like bad contact between the inner battery tube and the head. I would try unscrewing the battery tube and simply wiping the top edge of the inner tube with a dry tissue to remove any grease or dirt contaminating it. Also, clean the gold contact ring on the circuit board in the head with a cotton bud dipped in IPA (alcohol) to get it pristine. It's the inner tube which connects the tail switch to the head's electronics. I can get my SC33 to stick in its current mode, with the button inoperative, simply by unscrewing the battery tube 1/16th of a turn. The light stays on but is uncontrollable until I screw the battery tube all the way back into the head.

Do you recommend it? If not im looking for an edc in the 3000-5000 lumen range with a 21700 cell or a 18650 cell
@craigs7181
@craigs7181 10 месяцев назад
I love mine, but for me it's a bit large for an EDC. But if you want something in the 3000-5000 lumen range, it's going to have to be close to this size or larger if you want turbo to run for a minute or more without over heating and dropping down to a few hundred lumens. I also recommend the Wurkkos TS22 with either the XHP70.2 which will be an extremely floody light, or with the XHP70.3 which will still be floody but offer a bit more throw because it has more of a center hot spot. However, the TS22 is a side switch light. Both the SC33 and the TS22 run on 21700 cells. I have all 3 of the lights I mentioned and all 3 are excellent. The TS22 is a little smaller than the SC33 and it runs a little hotter, but it's still acceptable to me. I don't think a light in the 3000-5000 lumen range that runs on an 18650 is a good idea. The battery would be drained very quickly so you may need to carry a spare battery and the light will be too small to handle the heat it would generate.
@FlashlightEnthusiast
@FlashlightEnthusiast 10 месяцев назад
I would take 2 click to turn on onto consideration - If it's not bothering you, then sure. If it does Wurkkos TS22, Acebeam E75, Emisar D4K would be better option ;)

-Wurkkos FC13 can reach 4000lm, it's 18650, it's pretty, Anduril -Wurkkos TS22: Awesome driver, awesome output -Pioneman k36 XHP 70.3: best beam so far, little bigger, not waterproof, different UI (hold for off) The sc33 is also ok but is heavier

Question, I just received my SC33 from Amazon and am not sure which version I received, 5000K or 6500K. Nothing is mentioned in the documentation. Which version is your review based upon and which is the preferred version? Thanks
@FlashlightEnthusiast

Mine was 5000K and it has slightly yellowish beam color. On the other hand, cool white should be either pure white or even slightly bluish (6500K)

I thought the HI version of the 70.3 emitters were supposed to be high CRI?
@christiangallant3197
@christiangallant3197 Год назад
no, it's High intensity. the 90 CRI version of this emitter actually has a noticeable tint, where the CRI 70 which this light has doesn't have a tint. High CRI is not always the best versions. Also the 90CRI has less lumens. It doesn't have a dome.
@rayoflight62

The reflector is not machined to match the LED. The optical losses where the light enter the reflector are horrible, it lose more than 10% of the light emitted from the LED. I don't know if I'm gonna buy this light because if the optical losses. Maybe pay $20 more and buy a Nitecore instead of the Sofirn?

@@GetnodramaI buy a lot of flashlights, so I didn't pick just one 😅 This month I bought a Wurkkos TS25, Wurkkos TS21, Wurkkos FC11 (both 5000K and 2700K versions), a titanium/copper Wurkkos TS10V2, a Wurkkos FC13 and a Olight Warrior Mini 3. I do recommend the Wurkkos FC13 and the Olight Warrior Mini 3.

@craigs7181
@craigs7181 11 месяцев назад
I just received mine last week and if I unlock the light with 4 clicks the auto-lock is disabled. When you do this, the light will flash twice and come on. To re-enable the auto-lock you just have to manually lock the light with 4 clicks and then unlock the light with either 2 or 3 clicks. Easy peasy 😊 There's nothing in the included manual or on their website that states this, at least not yet

@@FlashlightEnthusiast I have to agree with you on this. The light never gets too hot to hold. I would say it gets very warm at most, which actually surprised me for the output that it can sustain. I was expecting it to get hot. Excellent light for the price, but a little too large to be an EDC for me. For many it will be fine. Great review and comparison!
