Sofirn SP33 V3 REVIEW : FET Driver, CREE XHP50.2, 3500 Lumens, 26650 lI iON 

The SP33 V2 is good, I ordered one too. That use a boost circuit, you'll get more consistent output at turbo for a few minutes before it steps down. The SP33 V3 starts to step down gradually from Turbo to aprox 2500 lumens after 2 minutes.

The V2 is a ridiculously good light. Enjoy it, it doesn't cost as much.

THAT'S WHAT I DID TOO so I ordered the v3 BUT, the 1st light i got doesn't say v2 & yet the color is whiter! than the v3 & has a little needed focus! Yea, whoopie! & The turbos seem the same lums! I do like the ramping on v3 b/c you can get from high to up,up,up to turbo. There was too much jump from hi to turbo on v2. All in all, I can't say for sure if the 1st one is a v1 or v2 so I can't recommend but I absolutely prefer the 1st one I got as I don't like yellowish light! except in the house which is NOT where i use a flashlight! Well I don't find an actuall v1 on Utube or google so I can only assume I've a V2. If so, I strongly recommend it unless you like darker yellowish light like a lot of dummies do.

The turbo last a few minutes and steps down gradually by the 3rd minute in Turbo my sp33 v3 got really hot and will step down to High, but it will stay really hot at the head of light. The hours in the manual is the battery life you can get operating in turbo, high, med, low, moonlight etc. It does not mean that the lumen output can be sustained for those hours, just usable battery life in those modes.

Your sp31 sues not overheat, that us why it steps down, and most ALL modern high energy(lumens) flashlights step down either by temperature or time, it is physics, heat kills all electronics, it is the kryptonite of electronics.

Actually I have to note that I checked the battery was below 4.0 volts, during the filming, so it was at turbo, but the battery wasn't fully charged with the rest of the lights. My fault. I will make notation in Description. 👍

EpicGED also at 4.0v that SD05 should perform much better. So to see it gives no more than 1200lm or so

Testing the SD05 vs Thrunite TC 15 with a fully charged battery after video was posted showed a much better result. The Sofirn battery charger that came with the SD05 will not charge the 21700 battery if it is just at 4.0 volts, so all other lights had a battery with 4.18 - 4.20 volts. (18650, 26650 charged on a Lii-500, 21700 wont fit)

@@cvheugten Also on the beam shots on back lane, the SD05 was under performing because it didn't get a full charge from the Sofirn charger. I will try again and post a video to compare the smaller lights in this range just to be sure.

EpicGED very good. Thanks. That SD05 is on my list, perfect light for the price. It really does 2500lm. And yes, it is much better to charge these high performance batteries with a good charger, like Nitecore, Xtar, Miboxer and many more. Those chargers are also better for the condition of the battery. Not too expensive though.

Yes, I can do that in ramping mode, set it to about 800 lumens, click off. Then I can use moonlight, click off, then click on to about 800 lumens, double click to turbo. Click off, click back on In ramping mode it remembers the about 800 lumen setting, even when removing battery when not in use, it will remember the ramping mode and last lumen setting about 800 the next time I put in the battery.

There could be a few reasons 1.The body tube has to be twisted on tight with the head of flashlight and tail cap to complete circuit, 2. battery is self discharging to below 3.5 volts so battery protection circuit wont turn on light. 3. A defective driver board. If it is a defective driver board, I would contact Sofirn customer service warranty department.

Did you accidently put it on lockout mode? If your Sofirn SP33 was in the off position and you hit the switch 4 times, it goes into lockout mode. (see instructions) but if the light was on while you pushed it 4 times, you would be switching from the "click mode" to the "ramp mode", where you can change the light output by just holding down the button. If not what, then your light could just be broken.

It looks to be about 5700 k, not too cool, not to warm, actually on turbo looks cool white but not blue

Has a slight greenish corona in the mid to low brightness

On aliexpress, they give you options of 4-5-6000k, i got the 5000k and love it.

With stopwatch and my eyes, the flash light from turbo 3500 lumens steps down gradually, around the 2-1/2 minute mark it looks around 2000 -2500 lumens. Looking at camera recording, it looks like it steps down gradually. Head of flashlight feels warm-hot, handle area feels warm.

For reference I compared it to a Sofirn SD05 (2550 lumens) at turn on. So at 2-1/2 minutes the SP33 V3 looks around same brightness.

I dont have information on the max brightness to use without stepping down.

Its not zoomable, but it has adjustable brightness, either smooth ramping from low to turbo or step modes low, med, high, turbo, strobe

if you like 26650 cells and Turbo to step down slower then SP33 v3. if you like more modes ie muggle mode, candle, lightning, more compact 21700 cell, then EC01

@@EpicGED and if i get a 40t cdr 35a 21700 cell and adjust the stepdown temps from 45 tot 55 or something? Or will that not change stepdown times?

@@StagnantMizu Yes if you adjust the temp up and have a good cell, it will step down slower, but check out the EC01 review from " Flashaholics" he measured the Turbo step down and run times, also with the present technology, this is as good as we can get out of single cell, single led flashlights.

Do not spend your money on ec01. Just go for sp33v3 or if you want anduril software, go for mateminco mt07 which is actually astrolux mf01 mini.

It'll run at 3500 lumens at turbo, but start stepping down slowly, at the 2 minute mark, still very bright probably 2500 lumens but it gets "hot" at the "head" of light where the heat sink fins are. I wouldn't use turbo for more than 2-3 minutes, it will shorten the life of the Led.

It does have thermo regulation though....but FET driver goes through battery kinda quick on Turbo

I want to buy a good flashlight .... I have seen two flashlight sp33v3 or sp36 ... So which should buy which have more brightness and good time on turbo ???

@@janmur4746 They both have similar run times on turbo because of battery cells to led ratio, but SP36 has more battery life and is twice as bright, so more light range choices. The SP33 v3 is more pocket sized and lighter to carry.

same beam like EC01, but with 26650 Battery. EC01 has more modes and features.

The different user interface is the big difference.
