An interesting video idea is showing how celebrities' (or IG models) have had their body type preferences distorted through plastic surgery. Like when Aly Art talks of how Romantics/Gamines might feel insecure about the fleshiness of their cheeks but if they were to remove it, it would age them or make them look too dry. Or maybe dramatics might want get lip injections and how it would make their face look swollen/"fake", etc. Basically, the potential insecurities of each given body type and how their way of compensating for it might take away from their beauty imbedded in their body types.

Well, Jennifer Connelly or Demi Moore look much better with rhinoplastic than with their natural noses. Maybe because they both became more dramatic classic than they were before. Now they are shining examples of DC. Don't forget, that Kibby said its impossible to change your type. I guess this is also true for Keyra Knightley, Natalie Portman, Megan Fox with their rhinoplastic and becoming more look like their types (d, g, tr). But their nose changing were minimal (compare to Connelly and Moore). And what about other examples? Scarlett Johansson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Winona Ryder? They are: sn (or r), sn (or sd), sg.

I went through all the fashion phases. People always told me I was curvy and I went for old hollywood/Marilyn Fashion but it looked kind of weird on me because I'm a lot more blunt. Coming out of that phase I tried boho fashion and loved it but I kind of grew out of it and wanted to be more "grown up and professional" as it fits with my career. I thought I was a soft classic but straight cuts and stiff fabrics make me look so weird and I only realized this when I couldn't figure out my actual Kibbe type for years. Realizing that I'm a soft natural was a game changer. I don't need to be super "flower power" to have flowy, uneven fabrics. Embracing my Yin and Yan feels so good. Making my hair go wild and free with blonde highlights, not trying to give my soft droopy eyes sleek cat winged eyleiner, not trying to push my boobs, embracing my soft lips but sharp nose with lots of flesh (My ex called it ogre nose *middle finger*) I want to find style and chicness in my asymmetry and unevenness. I try to go for Serena from Gossip Girl with a bit more girly (Blake Lively is the queen of naturals) and it's so much fun and works for me. Yes to my small boobs. Yes to my big ass. Yes to my big fleshy nose. Yes to hooded eyes. Yes to wavy hair. Yes to my small waist. Yes to my high cheekbones, fleshy cheeks and slim Jawline. Yes to me

I am a soft dramatic when I go to work and wear my hair in a curly regular ponytail ( wash and go look but in a ponytail). My co-workers always tell me; I would look better if I did my hair professionally. I would said, "I did do my hair" . I would get annoyed. So, when I do get glamor up people and co- worker are like, "wow". I like being SD sometime, but it is like you have to be glamorous all the time, if not people will question you.
@edennis8578
@edennis8578 3 года назад
I've seen simple ponytails look very glamorous; they were not messy ponytails, however, but slicked back on the head very neatly. When my hair was long, I either wore a neat ponytail, a French braid, or a quick and neat French twist most of the time. A messy hairdo just isn't suitable for most Soft Dramatics because it clashes with the rest of our vibe or essence. Even if we don't see anything wrong with it, other people are disturbed by the contradiction.

The more I dig into Kibbe’s theories the less sense they make. So I checked the Soft Natural celebrities and I can’t see what those ladies have in common, some are perfect hourglasses with long limbs and square jaws (Sandra Bullock, Hellen Mirren), some are hourglass with quite short limbs and softer facial features (Scarlett Johansson, Kat Dennings, Aishawrya Rei), some are gamine like ladies with not much curves and big heads (Goldie Hawn, Jane Fonda). And there is Renée Zellweger with very different body and face to all of other ladies and some sources claim that singer Pink is SN and she is short limbed with zero curves. I can’t see any common vibe at all just very random celebrity list.

I think is more about the vibe coming out of the person , I can relate to it bc I'm soft dramatic all my life people told me I have the diva vibes and look better in majestic grand clothing , when I wear natural and less glamourous I look blah out of Character. Incredible analysis. Thank you. I’m a soft dramatic and I feel that it’s true, when I wear loose flowy clothes or messy hair it looks separate from me, and I don’t look or feel relaxed or comfortable. Yet, when I wear cleaner lines and style my hair in romantic waves I look relaxed and comfortable. How fascinating, I’m amazed at your teaching.

That was very useful for me because when I didn't know about Kibbe yet, I used to buy all kinds of Soft Natural clothing because I thought I was similar to the models in terms of a soft face, and then it turned out that those clothes often looked 'undone' on me, like I was hiding my lines more than emphasizing them. Now that I know I'm a Soft Dramatic, it all makes sense and I always pay attention to the relative length and width of the clothes so that I can look effortless but complete at the same time.

Well, curls aren't the only property that contributes to the shape of a hairstyle. There's also the length, cut and parting of the style. If you have a Yin body and straight hair, short hair, layers, side-swept bangs and side parts will all add yin to the hair even if it is straight. For yang body types, with curly hair. You can do a blunt cuts, middle parting, pony tails/ buns, pixie/buzz cuts.

Hi Jenna, there are heatless methods of styling the hair both for curling and straightening ( if your hair is not TOO curly that is). I am a Romantic with straight hair and curl my hair damp on rolers. I actually tried using a hot curler, but it leaves my thin hair crispy and I hate it anyway. With the curlers, it remains soft, but I'm just starting out and I'm not very good at it 😅. And yeah, a good cut also helps with the lines! ☺

That was so much more helpful than just written descriptions and random celebrities who appear to have almost perfect bodies anyway. Well as these ladies do too, but the deeper analysis of the bone structure and particularly the facial bone structure helps me understand why I am in fact (mainly) a soft natural and not some other type. I have read random things like that a soft natural will have wide set eyes and thin lips, or can't be "exotic", whatever that means exactly. I don't think those details have anything to do with it, except that wider cheekbones might go with wide set eyes, or on the other hand the relative width of the bones might make the eyes appear a bit closer set. Now I can see more clearly it's all about the bones and general softness vs tautness of the flesh.

This video was so helpful in differentiating between the "square" jaw of a dramatic and the "broad and blunt" jaw of a natural. It just goes to show that a video can be helpful, even if it is on (a) completely different body type(s). I can now say that I have been wrongly assuming my jaw to be natural , when it is, in fact, dramatic. With time, I will hopefully be able to analyze more features I'm not very good at analyzing better. For now, I can only reference comments I've received regarding these features. Here's a question: Can a person who is more yang than yin-with a yang skeleton and body and a yin face and stature-be considered flamboyant gamine although she has no B answers? I've read Kibbe eliminated the gamine category and that a flamboyant gamine consists predominantly of answers A and E with several B answers. If a person matches the "yang body and skeleton; yin size and facial features", does it matter whether that yang is sharp or blunt?

@@Keapix But the descriptions of a Soft Classic and of a Soft Dramatic are so dissimilar! That said, I realize it is easier to see the difference in descriptions than it is in actual people. I'm certainly not very good at that. As well, I think perhaps we see more of our features as "classic" (or balanced) than actually are. That's why I think it is so helpful to take comments you receive on certain body parts into account. I would say my nose is answer "C", for instance, but I've received so many comments on the smallness of my nose I've moved it over to the "yin" category. It would perhaps help to find collages of Soft Dramatics and of Soft Classics so that you may note the similar features within each category.

@@unneighborlyarcades6356 They are dissimilar but I'm on the same boat - thought I was SC because I thought I was balanced and chose many C answers but that was in the mirror! In the mirror I saw myself from a much higher point than one would see me at a larger distance, and when I took a standing photo of my full body, I realized how tall, narrow and sharp I looked. And I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't asked in a Facebook group what the ladies thought about my typing. They said I was very yang and I was shocked, especially since personality-wise I always think of myself as an innocent, naive girl. I would've assumed I look best in the little cute classic dresses. I still have enough softness to have a 'cute' face though, and SD fits me best.
@unneighborlyarcades6356
@unneighborlyarcades6356 5 лет назад
@@windylue6206 Oh my goodness, mirrors are our worst enemies! I can relate so much. I look completely different to myself in a full-length mirror than I do in a bathroom mirror, even. I think you can still dress in a "cute" way to suit your personality; it is just that it would have to be a SD kind of "cute". But, I think you bring up an interesting point. Perhaps we also have a tendency to, at first, type ourselves by our ideal self, rather than by our true self. (And maybe some type themselves by magnifying their perceived "flaws".)

@@unneighborlyarcades6356 Sure, I'm doing my best to find a cute style for myself without looking like a joke, haha. Tighter clothing in pinks and reds seems to be good for this, large flowers also work as they're more yang patterns but still 'girly'. And large, 'oversized' jewelry can be cute given the right shapes. It's a matter of balance and it's so fun trying to figure all of this out! :D That's interesting, about the tendencies, and I would agree. Sometimes we build an 'ideal' in our heads based on other people and not ourselves. It's often easier to see the beauty in others than in ourselves and that's something to work on.

I’ve been curious what do you think is Bella Hadid’s type? Aly Art mentioned that she might be a flamboyant natural, but I think she is a really skinny soft dramatic. Angelina Jolie looks like she has a blunt, Natural face to me, and the leading Kibbe stylist in my country typed her as a Soft Natural but having lost a lot of her softness due to being very thin. When I look at her photos, I do like her best in more relaxed hairstyles.

@ju2082

I would say Angelina is some sort of natural, could be the soft natural yes. And Bella is probably FN, I don't follow her but at times I come across her photos and in them she tends to wear and look unique in the separates and unconstructed lines, when I saw her in something diva glamorous, very put together in the SD style, I thought the style wore her, in my opinion. But she also allegedly had some surgeries so it could be throwing off her "essence".
@Laura-vs6fs
@Laura-vs6fs 3 года назад
angelina has naturally blunt bones and her face used to look SN, but now she looks like a dried up SD, since she had cheek, lip and jaw implants, which added sharpness to her face yet her nose jobs still kept the natural essence of her nose without changing it too much. Her body is more of a FN though as she doesn't look as good in soft natural lines, for examples she tends to wear them on the red carpet, but looks amazing in more flamboyant natural, casual outfits. The D black dress she wore with the leg slit actually looked pretty good on her, but still it felt a little too constructed. As for bella, she is classified as an FN too, btu she also had procedures done, which sharpened her features, so even though she may look like a D, she looked like a FN, when she was very young and you could see that even through her baby fat.

I would actually love to see a more in depth-comparison between SN and FN. In some cases, I think it's fairly obvious if a person is tending towards a bit softer or a bit more dramatic (i.e. if you compare Scarlett Johanson and some of the super models; she looks shorter and curvier, the super models look way taller, less curvy and with longer bones). In other cases, I find it difficult to understand why a certain celebrity is considered FN and not SN, as with Jennifer Lawrence. It's not obvious to me why Katy Perry and Pink (both being SN on Kibbe's list) are considered softer than Jennifer. Several times I've found myself thinking that a certain celebrity is SN and then finding out she's typed as FN. To me, seeing that extra bit of yang or yin is easier in classics or gamines, but for some reason, I find it harder with naturals.
@kidaria1333
@kidaria1333 4 года назад
Yeah Jennifer Lawrence is more soft natural for me as well especially if you value her face and not only the body. Her and Katy Pery are even the same hieght. The only difference between her and Katy are the shoulders. Jennifers are a bit more broader and straight whereas Katys are a bit more smaller, rounder and dipping. However in reality many people are betwenn two types not far from each other like soft natural and flamboyant natural, or soft natural and soft dramatic,...etc. The main thing is the kibbe system is to understand the general essence of yin and yang in your body where and how.

Wow, I reviewed multiple videos discussing the different Kibbe types by different fashion channels and I’ve come to the conclusion I can talk myself into being about 4 different types and it’s a ploy to get people to fork out for analyses. I am happiest wearing what makes me feel the most attractive in the colors I like best. I think I am going to go with that. When one has difficulty determining type because of how much “flesh” a person is packing then it kind of negates the importance of types.

Have you considered soft gamine? You look like you may be shorter (some yin in your skeleton), but of course it's hard to say just from your face. And also, for your face, I would say your jawline is answer B, it's hard to say for your cheekbones from that angle but you say they're high so let's say answer A, but your nose is answer E (again a mixture of opposites in your face). Then, your lips and cheeks look quite yin (also soft gamine--yang skeleton, yin flesh, but a mixture). Another possibility is theatrical romantic depending on the rest of your body. It's possible that you're soft natural too. Would you say your arms and legs are long or short? Do you have an hourglass figure? Do people say you look taller or shorter than you are?

Great job! This came in great timing; my daughters and I were talking about this just this afternoon. So, naturals have width in their yang skeletons, dramatics more narrowness, right? And with the soft types of these, both have soft flesh. But the character of SD needs to be more structured or polished, SN needs to be unstructured and unpolished! Right? So with my beautiful teens there is one of each. 😊

Based on your description, I am a soft dramatic! I have narrow, sharp bones. Thin-boned in a way, but not small-boned. Just...thin-boned, kind of lanky, sharp, narrow but strong bones. But with some yin influence: round eyes, soft cheecks, fleshyness even at a bmi of 16. I'm a bit in between regular draamtic and soft dramatic in terms of fleshyness, but overly structured and boxy takes away from the small but existing 'womanly curves' I have.

Gitte Van de velde I think I'm the same as you, but I'm kinda smallish for a dramatic (5"7) and really thin (gaining weight for me is hard). So i forever thought myself a natural. But i have no width to my bones, just lanky narrowness and small curves. So curious huh?
@gittevandevelde2208
@gittevandevelde2208 5 лет назад
@@cinderling5472 Totally the same! I am only 5'5" even, which is usually short for anything dramatic. But most people guess me taller because of my small head, long neck and because I look so narrow overall. Like you take someone very tall and just resize the whole body to be smaller. No width to my bones at all, just lanky narrowness like you say, but some albeit small, still soft and existing 'feminine curves' in the areas where it matters the most - I am quite voluptuous in the bust and hip area considering my weight. A c-cup and sometimes my waist and hips differ two full sizes, depending on the brand. I only weigh a 100 pounds which is very little for my height.

Gitte Van de velde Oh that is interesting! Actually, you are starting to sound a bit like perhaps a sort of gamine to me now you've mentioned your height! If your body seems a bit on the compact side as opposed to 'stretched out' if that makes sense, then perhaps you could see how FG lines suit you? Just guessing here though 😇
