You indicated you use it with your pitchers. How much of an increase in speed are your pitchers seeing? with what age groups?

@fastpitch power Question, I've been seeing more and more ladies in the ncaa that put their heel on the the rubber and don't really use the rubber at all, is this legal and is their a reason why some of the top pitchers do this?

wow! interesting question, I can't say that I've seen anyone start with their heel off the rubber. Well first off, in women's fastpitch, there is a rule that says the front foot must start ON the rubber, otherwise it is an illegal pitch. But I feel it's actually a good thing, starting with the heel on the rubber then angles the ball of the foot and toe downward into the ground. This allows the pitcher to "push back" more off the rubber and launch out and up for the best stride and glide off the rubber possible. Starting with your foot flat on the ground actually isn't ideal for the push and drive off the rubber, it can create a shorter glide, pushing up instead of out and it also contributes to crow hopping and leaping which are illegal in womens fastpitch.

@@FastpitchPower no the heel is touching the rubber, barely. Maxwell from Oklahoma State is one of the big names I see doing it, maybe Fouts I can't remember, but a lot of the pitchers start with the heel barely touching the rubber. My daughter likes to do this because in travel ball the girls dig out huge ditches in front of the rubber and then their foot is pointing up and down like they are getting ready to run in the 100 meter.

@@FastpitchPower also my daughter since she started using metal spikes has a hard time with balance when these girls dig these huge holes out in front of the rubber. I tried to show you a picture of it but youtube doesn't have a way to paste a picture to the comment. Anyways my daughter loves watching your videos she gets a lot of pointers from you , thanks.

My guess, and it is a guess, is that the collegiate fields are meticulously maintained to where the rubber is already flush with the ground. Since there really isnt a big lip to use to push off, they might as well start with their foot as close to the plate as is legal. Either way they are going to have to push off basically flat ground with the pad of their foot.
