Pretty good comparison. I'm currently a community college student about to graduate with an associate's degree. An IT "newb," I plan to transfer to WGU this year and pursue the recently renamed Software Engineering degree. I was thinking CS at first, but when I looked at the courses with my dad (a front-end developer), he said that a lot of the added stuff in the CS degree program wasn't necessary and that the Software Engineering program was plenty. Also, it looks like they've added some more coding classes and replaced the CompTIA A+ cert with the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner cert, which is really cool since that allows me to more easily pivot to DevOps or SRE if I want to. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited for what's to come after I finish CC😁
Really enjoy watching your videos! I started the software dev degree this October at WGU and I’m halfway done after transferring in some credits and completing 27 CU’s in about 6 weeks. Best decision I’ve made. Watching your videos really helped me make the decision to go there. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much ☺️ & that is awesome to hear - you are killing it! 👏🏼 Have you gotten to the data structures & algo course yet? I can't wait to hear some perspectives on it!
@@ITGirlll That’s the last class I just finished actually! It was pretty tough, although I was able to get it done in about 4 days studying quite a bit. Mostly just knowing abstract data types, sorting algorithms, and being able to tell time complexities from psuedocode.
@@gabejones2341 4 days! I LOVE it! I'm so glad to hear that though; Big O & sorting algos are like 95% of medium - large company testing questions, so you'll def be prepared for the interview process!
Literally found your channel today. Really like your content. My WGU start date is the 1st of December in Software Dev. I'm already in the industry as a mid-level Linux Admin but I wanted to finish my degree and add dev skills to enhance my marketability and truly move into a more senior dev ops role or even the super lucrative Site Reliability Engineer. Not sure if this will satisfy this but either way I will get a degree. Either way new subscriber. Keep up the wonderful videos.
Thank you so much & congrats on starting your WGU journey! So excited for you! You'll probably fly through the coursework with your background 😊 Do you have your alarm set for 12a 12/1 to start? ⏰☺️
Yep. They did change the name. The new program (Software Engineering) adds a few more coding classes (which are helpful) and switches out the CompTIA A+ cert with the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner cert, which is pretty helpful since a lot of software development is moving to the cloud.
