If your Samsung Smart TV has the software update greyed out or not selectable in the settings menu its an easy fix. Hope this helps.

Also the UI is ridiculously slow. All Smart Samsung TVs start fast. But after 1 year of updates. They star lagging.

@@cosmicape4829 Mine runs YT app pretty decently (the 2016 model). However my first Samsung Smart TV (2013 model) is slow to the point of redundancy. My brother bought 4 LG Smart TVs in separate years for different rooms. From oldest to newest, the UI is still working with no lag. Samsung UI makes me feel like my remote battery is dead and that the TV can’t register my inputs because of it. Never buying Samsung TVs again. Despite the price. I wish they sold non Smart TVs these days.

OMG, not even the Samsung store staff could help me with this problem, so I never updated my TV since I bought it, 2 years ago. So, thank you for this super quick fix. 😊

Thank you SO SO MUCH!! This is a great video! Nobody knows this! Why wouldn’t they let you know to close the apps running in the background. Instead of saying it’s not up to date and saying there is a version available but grays it out to where you can’t click it it. Thank you for your help!!

Nope! Neither worked. I had nothing open in the background and the internet is fine. I have 2 Samsung TVs in different rooms, one is not greyed out and the other is constantly greyed out.

Other solution could be only close the opened app (RU-vid, for example). It was enough for me. How to update by pendrive (with firmware), briefly: 1. Turn off TV; 2. Connect pendrive; 3. Exit any opened app; 4. Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now.

How long does Samsung continue to support their TVs? I have a TV that is about 5 years old with lots of software glitches but great picture quality. Connects to RU-vid but can't play movies. Still having trouble downloading an update even with the method in the video.

You haven't mentioned about picture size grey out while we are on internet streaming like you tube, Netflix, amazon, influx, etc. It works fine on normal TV cable. But while on internet streaming picture size Grey's out. We cannot change resolution or zoom in or out. Plz advice.

i cant run a channel scan . the option is greyed out. Broadcasting is not greyed out. The TV has been off and no other apps are running. no other apps installed.
