I like it. One reason I stopped carrying a multi tool is how bulky and heavy they are. This seems to solve that in a way.

Agreed. This is much easier for EDC. Thanks Brother

I have the q3 as apart of my EDC & I love it. The pliers are the only issue that I have with the handles sliding back and blocking fully closing the pliers.

• Missed opportunities from SOG: ○ markings for inches & centimeters. ○ small bubble level embedded into one side • Chisel mod: put an angled V divot in the middle and it transforms into a small pry bar, one of the items you recently recommended for "Emergency Tools for SHTF"
@SensiblePrepper

That would definitely take this tool to the next level. Thanks for stopping by Kimberly

The V divot on the chisel would not work. This type of tools would break if used that way.

Having just bought this, I can say it is a better form factor to carry a multy-tool around with you rather than leaving at home. It is not perfect, it does not have scissors, and can have the handle slide to close under pressure, but if it is going to be carried instead of being left at home, it is a step in the right direction. Recommend. Jong.

SOG has great designs. I have several knives their aegis being my edc knife for many years. In years past their quality has been lacking unfortunately. I love their design and execution and price but the quality...I end up going leatherman, benchmade and spyderco. Great review and I maybe will check this out. As always - YOU THA MANG sootch 👍🏻🇺🇸

Thanks for the "hands on" demonstration of the tool. I wish someone had a "hands on" demonstration of the can opener on my newer model SOG powerlock; I might not have bought it. But, alas, even though the can-opener is backa$$wards, I still like my powerlock. That Q3 SOG is pretty neat. Yeah, limited capability, but all multitools have serious limitations and all of them are tradeoffs. The Q3 looks like an all around handy tool for everyday light duty uses.

The philips head also has a little wire stripper notch in it. I didn't hear if you mentioned that or not. I have a Rush 12 pack by 5.11 that this Q3 fits perfectly on the side right inside the MOLLE loops along side some other tools I carry. It's my current EDC bag that goes everywhere with me. I've gone full sprint, the bag has taken some tumbles and the clip holds it in place quite well. Haven't lost it yet!

Love the review I sent mine back to sog twice. I found the pliers totally unusable. The sliding forward of the Oliver handle is very similar the the terrible design and Engineering of the sog products. But I agree with you the idea is brilliant but sog just has so many flaws I’m a bit confused on how you can even say there stuff is worth buying. I actually have field tested a dozen of there products and each failed miserably. Sog does have an amazing customer service department and there return polacy is brilliant but there stuff is pure junk.

Awesome video, awesome concept ! 2 questions : 1. what's your thoughts about that tool as a self-defense tool (think kubotan) ? 2. do you have any problems with it opening in your pocket or something. It seems there is no lock on the plier's opening, right ? Thanks for your great content !
@SensiblePrepper
@SensiblePrepper 5 лет назад
Yes, It would make a good self defense tool and I should have thought of it. Thanks for the comment. As far as opening in the pocket, it's a pretty solid and I haven't had any issues.
@TheSpiritualCamp
@TheSpiritualCamp 5 лет назад
Now the last question is : will it open when you bash someone's skull with it in a self-defense situation ? :p Just kidding. Thanks for taking the time to reply ! Your channel is one of the best ! Keep up the good work ! A fellow survivalist from Switzerland... ;)

Hmm i would brake that in the first 5 min of daily use @ a price of $55-100 USD & cheap china fit / feel. I will stick to my Leathermen with a lifetime warrenty & yes i have used the warrenty for replacing the secondary tools located in the main tool boady.

SOG is made for the weekend warrior that thinks they are tough and never use the tool / product on a daily bases.
@Rodrigo-pe9jv
@Rodrigo-pe9jv 4 года назад
Clever concept but not reliable. The handles slide back and lock the the closing motion of the pliers. The blade is good (not only in size, but very sharp and resistant). The can opener is also great. I think SOG should consider a lock mechanism to secure the handles in place, otherwise the pliers loose all functionality.

I carry a Leatherman Super Tool. It is always on my belt. I have 2 of them. That tool would get in the way of my Benchmade Folder that has a pocket clip. I always carry multiple survival tools everywhere and every day. If I am going to a government building I "disarm" in my vehicle. The sheriff deputies that run the security all know me. They are used to holding my key chain because it has a tiny lockback folding knife and they hold my leatherman tool. My Benchmade folding knife stays in my truck. If they knew that my aluminum cane was a self defense weapon they would probably hold it.
