She has been soo active this year and I'm glad she seems to be healthier. She said in a recent interview that the 3 years of pneunomia was still a blessing to her and I think she seems to be mentally stronger too. I hope she keeps singing for us. Ps. Isn't that a B5 at 0:52?
Yeah, she's got much healthier! That's what I'm really happy about. The sign of fortified happiness just shows itself and shines brightly on her face. And in terms of singing, better than ever to our greatest delight!
I think it's supposed to be a B5 but it's a bit flat. That seems uncharacteristic for her; usually she hits it easily. Maybe she was sick at the time idk. Also she hits the first B5 so idk.
@@AlexD-gq8uj no, the first one is definitely a B5 and the second one is Bb5, it's not flat. She usually does both Bb5 but a few times it's been B5 first then Bb5
@@blackmamba3429 "I'll be there" 19 notes in 2 seconds. This is not agile enough for you? + She sung so many low songs, almost every song on "Begin again Korea" are in their original Key too. Thats clearly an improvement. Edit: I respect your opinion, I just wanted to point this out since im assuming that you missed the point of her singing. She sings to spread emotions, and her mid belts are shining right now. Plus she has many G3s and A3s in "Never enough". Oh oh and the song at the end of this video (04:18) is her newest single "Stay". You should check that one out. Pretty well rounded low vocals if you ask me
@@yamilayan3873 I still don't agree with the height you try to indicate towards...... Because Soprano is the female version of a Baritone, an octave higher...... But yeah, I agree it's difficult to do all that at the age of 42-43......Have a nice day 😊
@Stargate Messiah I don't bash her ,I more joke on her calling her chinesehyang or screamhyang (just for joking nothing serious) and also I always admit the bad parts of her voice, but today is the Sohyang day so lmao I'm not in the mood to judge her
Definitely a HUGE improvement over last year. She’s very clearly still in her prime and has been in very good health this year. No real regression anywhere and her lows, mids, and agility are only improving!
She never declined. She has health issues and the voice can only do so much. Even before Seth Riggs helped her develop one of the most powerful mix voices ever she still had more to offer musically than most artist do and like one of her friends said, she is more than her high notes
I saw her profile while listening to her singing " Amazing Grace". Who would think she was 42? I just think it's a pretty girl college student who lives next door. Her songs are also beautiful in 2020. I want to get some sleep. I stay up all night when I start listening to her song. So, I'm 30 years old but they say I look 50 years old. It's okay to look old. If I could hear her sing....
@Stargate Messiah oh no, a toxic pinoy appeared, what am I going to do now? oh wait, exactly. Im going to ignore you because I dont care what you have to say. Come back at me when you are little bit *less* racist, *less* arrogant. Who are you to criticize Sohyang lmfao?
@Nessaj She has wonderful low notes with resonance all the way up to E3. She has done Mariah Carey’s whistle notes from Emotions in a competition once and her range goes all the way to Eb7. Her runs are so much better as you can hear. She has belted C#6s and C6s multiple times before. IMAGINE SHE ONCE DID PHRASED A5s into C6s easily so....
Misty and dayday please. Actually when she hit that Bb5 on dayday, I was celebrating the queen was finally back. I love all her performances on BA4 however to be honest she was a little low-key and holding herself on the first few episodes since the gist of the show is cure and comforting. We are soo happy she released herself on the last episode. Queen of Bb5 was proven as always.😍
So happy to hear an active Sohyang this year. Honestly I am very pleased to hear a healthy Sohyang. For reasons I can't explain, I just find her performances this year more introspective with added inner radiance than in the past. Perhaps it came from her better physical condition. While she almost had incredible control, her singing just seems even more at ease. It's been a great year.
Sohyang has been improving recently by quite a bit. Her agility above all. Some of the runs in Begin Again Korea are.. amazing. And of course her high notes.
Rebin_cgn and a complex run even. Had like high headvoice into triplets and then a fast descending run. Baffling. Didn’t even know she had that kind of agility.
@@KajiVocals I would like to disagree on that one. All of her high notes on "Begin again Korea" are pretty much the high notes we are used to. The only thing I noticed is that she isnt belting as many A5s or Bb5s anymore, but the reason for that is her decision on trying songs she isnt used to, she said that she wants to "do something different than usual" this time. Source: "Begin again Korea" - Interview
@@gothgirlgraveyard3539 "Glass-shattering waves carry more energy. They're shorter and "choppier"; thus more of them pass through per second, at roughly 556 hertz [source: San Diego Opera]. To shatter glass, the note's frequency must be the same as that of the glass. That's one condition." 556hz is roughly a C# so.......
I think she show some good improvements, especially in low notes, mid belts, they sound more solid & round. Her chest/mixed voice always stunning and unbelievable. And she show beautiful headvoice as usual she does....💯👍😍
she is agile yes, but she relies too much on her jaw movements to make her runs, would like to see her remove them and do runs because it’s very unnecessary.
@@moonlightbae9473 Ariana's jaw movements are a habit, like Whitney's gospel law. It doesn't make her runs better or worse it's just annoying to look at imo.
OH MY GOD!!! QUEEN OF THE HARMONY AND HEAVEN IR HERE!!! SHES MY INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION! I can't wait to also perform on the stage and make my performances ^^ maybe one day Ill be also in this video! 😇😇 Luv u all!! ♡♡♡
I really love On My Way Back (2:41)! ALi has been really active this year too and she sounds great! I was so excited when I heard they were doing a song together and it was amazing (as expected)!
I think So Hyang worked hard on her weakness and yes I think she is better now if that's even possible. I heard different colors and more fluid runs during the Begin Again busking show. Our Queen is like fine wine, she gets better with time.
Sohyang had plans for a concert around July. But the concert was canceled due to the covid-19. And as you can see in the video, she appeared on the Korean TV program 'Begin Again' and sang so many new songs. It's such a big present for Sohyang's fans. Anyway, Sohyang's ability depends on her health. She's a very sincere person, so if her health is good, It is impossible for her ability to retreat. And the last song in the video is Sohyang's new song 'stay'. This song is calm and sweet. Enjoy it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BxUBQLu75jo.html
I don't know what to say, as her crazy fans, she is ALMOST perfect (we all know there is no perfect singer in the world) but she is indeed the BEST singer in the world right now💜💜💜 at the age of 42, she able to project that fricking F#5 & G5 like nothing and of coz with great placement and support on both notes, not to mention her signature notes Bb5 on Day Day🤷🏼♂️😍 I have notice too, she enggages more with middle belt like C#5-F5 in Begin Korea... like almost of her cover and for me that is brilliant coz typical haters always said she only shines because of her upper belt (F#5-C#6)..she just proven the haters, they are all wrong..her midbelt is quite strong for a high soprano and it is sounds quite low for her bcause of her high tessitura.. we all know midbelt is NOTHING for her...she just simply project the notes out from her mouth...some singers even struggle at C#5 even though they are soprano..🤷🏼♂️ Her angelic headvoice is not something questionable...she owns the head voice In this year she shows quite impressive agility...like I'll be there and Ain't got you..for me she has the agility but not crazy as Tori or Jessi J or Katrina Velarde... In terms of musicality, as usual, she and her team always make a new rendition from the original song and that proof to us she has an originality and art in her own league..not always depends on the original version.. In her new songs, STAY,..I fall in love with her low note, whispery style, and angelic HV..she not even BELT in that song ! It is quite lullaby and easy listening... and of coz personally , I miss her CRAZY BELT !!!!🥰🙈😍💜😭😭😭😭 last but not least, I want her to sing her own song , DREAM ! I want to hear the Bb5(C#6 if she does the old version) C6&D6 (HV)
We got a new cover of Amazing grace, collab with Ali, her own song and all the performances in Begin Again so far. She also met Kim Yuna soo I'm really loving this year so far
@Stargate Messiah Hit BB5 or B5 but they can support it ?? Sohyang's technics is not the best but supported C6# is out of this world ! I don't know many people try to ignore her vocal agility ; development of mid belt ; low notes and difficult technics she can do ? But they can change the the truth :)
@Stargate Messiah well i live faaaar from korea and not a korean but i know that objectively sohyang is better. range doesnt equal support and skills. the names that you've mentioned can't support higher and more consistent than sohyang. hit D6? wow, that's really high. but did she hit that with proper technique? did she or them even support their F5s? Hit 40 notes in 2 seconds? that's great but did the notes were separated clearly, not pitchy and didn't sound sloppy? Sohyang isn't only good at high notes. lower register may be NOT her forte but she can support her G#3s and some of her G3s that's realllyyyy far from being bad because usually soprano doesn't sound comfortable below B3/Bb3, So she is also good at lower register, but compared to her magnificent and amazing upper register and upper extension area her lower register might be the weakest part of her voice. but she can STILL outsang many singer who have weaker lower register than her. and yes many singers that can hit high notes and head voice. But have support in 6th octaves is so rare. And yes, sohyang if one of those who has that ability. So she maybe not the best vocalist, but objectively she is one of the best for sure.
@Stargate Messiah tone is also objective. how you can say someone's tone is better? also why you consider katrina lows is better? karina mid is better? and katrina's hv is better? just because she can hit higher notes doesn't mean she is better. because if we use that kind of logic, georgia brown is the best singer of all time. No one ever hit G10 aside her. Katrina's HV doesn't have the clarity that sohyang have, doesn't have support at all at least at 6th octave. and also sohyang can hit resonant E6s. can katrina do that? not only hit the note but also hit it PROPERLY. her agility is not the best. but it's good. again, are you just saying hit 40 notes in 2 seconds is great instead the technique is wrong? it's not objective so, if there is someone who has to wake up, is you. you are just saying she hit higher notes, she hit more notes but is it technically better? nope. sohyang is by faaaaaar and miles better than Katrina when it comes to technique. you can say that you prefer katrina than sohyang. because preference is subjective. but you can't deny that technically and objectively sohyang is better. you have to know what is fact, and what is opinion
Thanks for this and also, ending it with “Stay”. Her originals need more love from the fanbase That aside, this year was an absolute clean sweep for me esp. with her beginagain performances. Almost all of them have made it to my top fav lists. I’m not very knowledgeable about vocals but just based on how much I’ve listened of her, she seems to be getting more rounded with every year. And by that, I mean not just her working on her mids and lows but also her arrangement choices. Hearing her most recent interview where she talks about it as well, made me realise it even more. Around the 2012-15 times she felt much more ‘aggressive’ like a machine gun with a sniper’s accuracy, just going from point to point nailing em to a T. She, herself, also admitted that she had gotten a bit obsessed over the technical aspects around this time. Then, around the time of Koms and esp. after that, maybe due to her own realisation and health issues, or might’ve been also from some negative feedback she received about her high notes and such, it almost felt like she was trying to avoid it as much as possible. The original she dropped, OSTs and even the songs she performed most in her concerts all felt much more withdrawn, compared to how ‘aggressive’ with guns blazing she came off as, previously. I for one, felt that she was holding back a bit too much due to being overly conscious about it. And then, right around 2019 esp. towards the end and early 2020, it felt like she was getting back a bit of that ‘aggression’. And with the recent beginagain performances, it almost feels like an overall restructuring of her attitude towards her approach to singing. I felt a very candid, relaxed vibe from all her recent performances even outside beginagain, something I’ve never felt before from her. Not saying she felt tense, but she for the majority came off as someone who was serious about what she’s doing and her performances always oozed that certain intensity, even during the time period I felt she was holding back. Now on the other hand, it feels like she’s somehow gotten over taking herself too seriously and being overly conscious if she’s being ‘aggressive’ or withdrawn. As if her priorities have slightly shifted to just having more fun in the moment. She is still as ‘aggressive’ as ever like in Day day, I’ll be there and If i ain’t got you but there’s a certain air of nonchalance in them, almost like she is saying “let’s try this” rather than “let’s do this” if you know what I mean. lmao that’s the best I can describe that vibe as I can’t find a better word for it, plus its very subtle or maybe I’m just being delusional 🤣 Did you guys notice anything similar? or is it just me? So to conclude, I personally feel she has currently reached a proper equilibrium in her attitude and consciousness. And I truly feel that, She now, is the Best she’s ever been. She has reached the perfect balance, in the amount of the aggression of her 2015ish self and also the subdued rounder edges of 2017-18ish one. And her health seems to be doing great as well coz she’s looking increasingly more fabulous lately. If this goes on any further, I might eventually switch from calling her noona, to noona romance territories 😅 Well, I realise I might’ve made no sense this whole comment with all the abstract gibberish but that’s how I’m truly feeling, atleast that’s the best way I could describe it lol.
Phenomenal! I didn't like her version of Amazing Grace, but everything else was great, especially Day Day, If I Ain't Got You and Marvin Gaye(the ease!).
Thanks for great compilation. Personally I wish she goes easy on those high notes. She has had recurring pneumonia past 4 or 5 years on top of hepatitus B draining her energy. I have listened to many great singers for over 50 years. But there are only few whose voice is so addictive such as Edith piaf, Patti labelle and Mariah carey. So hyang is one of them. I wish her good health so we can appreciate her angelic voice for long time.
Well she is taking it easy considering how often she sang lean on me, arirang and other crazy high songs. She isn't singing those songs anymore. Only lean on me and that was just once this year. She hasn't sung arirang in two years
@@shh4874 That is better. However, I've seen some footage of her concerts in Korea that she always picks "Running to the sky" which a difficult song with extreme high notes as her encore piece. I am sure they pick this song to make the audience to participate in a sing along, but her music director should do away with this. Let's hope she stays healthy so we can be blessed for a long time.
