This Pohnpeian song highlights parts of the Sokehs Uprising also called the Sokehs Rebellion which began in October of 1910 in Pohnpei which is today the capital of the Federated States of Micronesia. This transcription and video was created for use by the Pohnpei Language Club USA as we study the Pohnpeian language with Pohnpeian-American youth and all who might be interested.
Songwriters are from the Aldis Family of Palikir.

Kanikin Tomwara, Grandma, Senise’s younger brother. Grandma’s grave is on Mwahngpeiei.

Great work you all doing out there for educating the YOUTH with our history. The lyrics were composed by Sakonomwei with a marching dance that the Youth of Lewetik, Palikir always perform.

Alii! I was in Palau recently and visited the graves at Aimeliik - will edit my video to mention the families that stayed in Palau and are now all over the world too!

omg I went to Palau in 2023 and I visited Aimeliik Cemetery and my heart was full of sadness and happiness at the same time. Here is a picture of the graves at Aimeliik where many of the Pohnpeians were buried.
