Over the course of the series Toph always clung to Sokka when outside of her element (Literally) it was the rare moments of vulnerability she's shown, one Sokka never mentions but silently accepts the role. And now when the stakes are at their highest, Toph, blind to her surroundings never hesitated when Sokka takes her hand. She fully trusts him, a respect built over time. Avatar will always have the deepest characters in western animation, no way you can change my mind.

@@Ray_D_Tutto That's just Toph's way of showing affection to Sokka. She knows that Sokka gets mildly irritated everytime the benders poke fun of his inability to bend. But she never questioned Sokka's appointment as their leader and strategist and she also went along with his pranks.

Like it does hurt. They really felt and thought they could do this. And when Sokka was honest and Toph could feel the honesty of this is it she cried. Fear and it hurt all of us. She had only cried a handful of times before and they were all heartbreaking, but this knowing she could not do anything had me in tears. Great writing and having us emotionally invested in the characters.

I think she's not completely blind.. you know.. there's blindness that could see certain colors but blurry.. with that amount of fire, even Toph can see the red of fire.. probably 🤷

Sokka literally broke his leg and probably dislocated his shoulder falling and catching Toph like that and he still held onto her while fighting off two skilled firebenders with his other hand... I'm in awe of him, truly. Also, Toph and Suki.. They are incredible. Love this trio, unbeatable

This part of Sozin’s Comet is SO overlooked. They literally had no knowledge or real plan about the airships, yet they took down a whole FLEET by themselves. Sokka took on leadership and protection so well, he really stepped up to the plate. And when he used a boomerang and a sword to defeat those two fire benders with ONE HAND, that’s just beyond incredible. Toph was literally at her bravest point. She had to trust that Sokka would be her eyes and direct her on where to go. And how she redirected a whole airship from the outside and showed no fear was amazing. Now it may seem like Suki didn’t so much, but she did. First off, props to her for knowing how to steer, second, she probably took down EVERY crew member possible so she could take the wheel and save Toph and Sokka. I wish we could’ve seen what she did but either way she’s ELITE

Honestly, Aang's fight with the Firelord and Zuko and Katara taking down Azula get a lot of hype, but Sokka, Toph, And Suki had the hardest task that day, aside from the White Lotus reclaiming Ba Sing Se. I mean they took down an ENTIRE airship fleet. Here's them hopping from one destroyed ship to the next, not caring about the dangers, just doing everything possible to prevent the dogs from burning down the earth kingdom. Amazing

@@vince_c They were practically the world's last hope, most of the resistance army was arrested and defeated, in fact Sokka only managed to save his father and Sukki. The masters of the white lotus were reconquering a massive city full of 100x enhanced firebenders, we didn't see the whole battle but it certainly occupied them. In the end, the world was in the hands of the 14-year-old avatar and his gaang.

Seeing Sokka as not only a leader, but also as a protector with Suki and Toph made me appreciate his development. He went from "women dont fight", to fully acknowledge and respect two of the most skilled warriors he has ever met. And take a moment to notice how skilled as a leader he is. I wanna be like Sokka

Agreed! Plus there's some character development with Toph too. From the start she hated being protected by others and wanted to stand her own ground. By the end though, she recognizes that like everyone else, in some situations she will need to be protected, even have her hand held. And here she knows that doesn't mean she's lesser than anyone, I mean look at how big of a role she played in taking the ships down! It's just a part of being a piece of a team.

I watched the finale with my girlfriend yesterday. She didn’t cry at Iroh and Zuko reuniting, or the ending. She bawled her eyes out at the guy who got ejected from the airship ON HIS BIRTHDAY. I KID YOU NOT. she cried her eyes out because she felt so bad for him

You know, after so many years I finally realized this. You know how Toph just blasted them off into air before Sokka could answer? I just realized she used her seismic sense to see the way Sokka was pointing before his mouth could do it. It is another small detail that shows you how strong Toph’s seismic sense is.

0:43 Toph immediately launches them towards the closest airship without having to wait for Sokka's words because she sensed where Sokka was pointing towards with her seismic sense 6:47 Toph starts sliding down because she cant see whats happening and Sokka caught her 6:51-6:54 The firebenders at the forefront who are firing flames towards the land actually stops a couple milliseconds before the ship hits because they felt something went wrong with the other airships It's the little things, man. The part at 6:48 when they reach the top of the airship and Sokka rushes to take Toph’s hand as she runs in the wrong direction! Tiny moments like these are heartwarming! I love how Sokka guides her throughout the airship and she actually accepts his help! Love it!

This scene has clearly pointed out sokkas leadership and critical thinking skills in emergency situations. He knew aangs fight was with the fire lord and they had to take out the airships. He knew how to operate the ships and quickly came up with a plan to throw the airship off course while destroying them. He knew to get up on the roof and when he and toph were surrounded he calculated the the toss of his boomerang and managed to kick up his sword landing perfectly in his hand with a BROKEN LEG. This is why sokka will always be my favorite character.

i think that the scene with sokka and toph hurts so much more when you take in the fact that toph is floating in mid air. she can’t see anything because her feet have nothing to base knowledge off of. the only thing she really feels is sokka because he’s holding her hand and for the first time in a while she’s probably terrified. sokka, the guy who always has another plan and is always positive even in the worst situations, is telling her that it’s the end for them. and she knew he wasn’t lying. but luckily it wasn’t thanks to best girl ever, suki

Even without bending Sokka is a beast. His plan took out a flight and when his back was against the wall his sacrifice his boomerang and space sword. He shielded Toph from the falling metal since she couldn't see it. Sokka one of the greatest non benders in the show. Also I just realize Suki took out an entire crew by herself to get that ship.

First of all, when the crewman said "I can't believe the captain remembered my birthday" and when he fell out of the ship, that was just sad. Second, Sokka's idea on having the ship crash into the other ships was not only incredibly brilliant, it was also dark and I feel like we're just ignoring the fact that Sokka is a murderer.

I love the sokka toph dynamic in this episode. We rarely see Topf being so vulnerable and how sokka taking care of her the whole time. I like how she let's him protecting her because she knows that he knows what a strong person she is, a person who still has flaws. I think they have formed a beautiful relationship.

That shot that starts at 0:53 is, in my opinion, the BEST and most ambitious shot in the whole series! It is so gripping and cinematic, slowly revealing the scale of this monstrous fleet, and ending with the biggest monster of all right at the front! Love it!
