A 2-minute overview of the entire hike to through Sokolia dolina in the very central part of Slovenský Raj (Slovak Paradise).
On August 1, 2023, we headed to Sokolia dolina, a spectacular gorge in the quiet and central part of Slovenský Raj. This national park can be very busy in the summer months, however, if you want to hike through Sokolia dolina, you have to make a circular hike of at least 16 km. Since most tourists stay on the shorter routes this makes it possible to fully enjoy the peace and solitude in this area. Apart from Veľký Kyseľ, (still on our to-do-list at the time of writing) this was the only gorge we had not yet hiked through.
We parked our car at Podlesok (10:30 am), passed Chata Kláštorisko at 11:35 am and arrived at the entrance of Sokolia dolina at 12:30 pm. The most spectacular parts of the gorge lie in the central part of the section, and are characterized by waterfalls up to 80 meters and high ladder sections. At 14:05 pm, we hiked/climbed through the entire gorge and reached Sokolia donina, záver. At 15:40 pm, we arrived back in Podlesok.
