Their ability to sing and play complex stuff on their instruments at the same time always blows me away. The guitarist is a freak, writes all the parts (including the drums), and even does the keyboards on some of their covers.

Japan again & again & again. I curious what was just happen in Japan? Their music is unique, the land with full of super talented musician, the only place we can see the gathering of all female band with pure talent that make male band all around the world looks amateur by them. They keep impressing me.

I agree with you, these three are just insanely good, and so creative. They have such a full sound for a trio, and yes, it's studio-mixed, but still, this is insane. It must be a lot of pressure to be a band in Japan--there are so many good ones,, it's hard to rise above the crowd.

The thing that always blows me away is their timing and their use of rests. Granted their compositions are always Intricately woven with nice harmonies. Geez, another group to add to the growing list 😁.

Ryan! Greetings on a grey day afternoon before going back to work! As I said in my last comment you/we have stepped on a seemingly endless road with this new wave of Japanese bands! You enjoy yourself, do you not? When you come to Japan you will certainly be busy! How many granddaughters and grandsons have Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen spawned during their secret visits to Japan? Another group originating far away from Tokyo, Osaka, more precisely, an enormous city/prefecture notorious in Japan for its comparatively rough and aggressive people. Sokoninaru/そこに鳴る/"That is where we sing", was formed in 2111 when they were still at high school. They stayed together through university (proving they are not stupid!) and after college. Interestingly enough, Jyuugoro Suzuki, guitar, vocalist, composition and lyrics, has this typical Japanese high-pitched, almost feminine voice, while... ...Misaki Fujiwara, the bassist, vocalist, takes care of the low harmonies. The contrast is accentuated by the fact Jyuugoro has dyed his hair while she keeps hers a straight natural black. At times she plays her bass like a rhythmic guitar! Shyouto Saito, the drummer also contributes to the vocals. They must be around 24 years old, still very young for their trade. Gear yourself for other reactions! Best regards, Robert-Gilles

I think we're not prepared for what's coming next with Sokoninaru's new drummer addition. Syoto Saito is an amazing drummer like Shiyu (the former drummer) was before him, but he can sing and growl so it adds another dimension to the multiple dimensions they already have. Now there's infinite possibilities for our ears pleasure. Thank you Ryan

Some of the covers they have done already have made me very excited for the future of their own music. Shiyu might always be my favourite drummer cause there’s just something beautiful about the way he moves, but Shoto seems like a better fit for the group. They all just seem so happy together 🖤

Sokoninaru is not just a set of musical virtuosos. They are very capable of making beautiful "normal" songs full of emotions. What is for Band-Maid, Daydreaming is for them the song White For: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IftMhG5ck6Q.html

Love this band, now officially a three-piece. BTW, having recently watched their own RU-vid videos comprising Q&A sessions and self-filmed road trips, I’ve learned that they (Juko Suzuki the guitarist and Misaki Fujiwara the bassist): (1) can’t read music despite composing all their songs; (2) drive their minivan with all their kit to venues inside Japan and don’t stay in hotels but make red-eye trips to save cost; (3) can’t subsist only with their music, even with their sheer talent; and (4) started playing music only in their late teens but managed to get signed with a label by the time they graduated college. Amazing facts, but they certainly need to be far more recognized for their excellent musicianship and song-writing talent.

I see your fascination Ryan. This is my Dream Prog - and they can freaking sing too! BTW Ryan, take a close look at the SIZE of Juko's pedal board, and Misaka's is almost as big - for a BASS!! They have been a band together since 2011, and only added a drummer in 2016 (new drummer this year). Thay've had two European Tours (while Americans are watching Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Name-Your-Cheesy-Rapper🙁). This trio is Dream Theater on STEROIDS.

I truly believe you either have to listen to Sokoninaru, multiple times in headphones, or really, really LOUD speakers to start to get everything. They are a hurricane with their chaos and the melodies are bright spots in the eye of the storm. They also do a lot of covers on their channel and post playthoughs to see how they're executing the parts. I'm afraid Sokoninaru's overplaying and choppiness leaves any remnants of a song in the dust. (Band-Maid comes close to this problem in songs like Different and Sense, but their composition and integration is at such a high level, it all works out and the song remains intact). I'm all for innovation and cleaver editing and riffs, etc... but the basic structure of the song has to shine through or it shows the song is meaningless... or at least, secondary to the music and what the band is trying to evoke. The playing of instruments are like how words communicate a thought. And the actual song IS the thought. If someone's trying to communicate their thought with jumbled or overly complex words, it's hard to get what's being said. A good benchmark for a song's structure is to play it on one acoustic guitar. If it makes sense and moves you emotionally played that way, then it's fit to add all the embellishments. But for me, Sokoninaru's embellishments are a distraction to any awesome song that may be hidden inside their soundscape. Ryan's face says it all at 1:30. Like I said, it might be awesome playing... but to what end? Dazzlement?
@RyanMear
@RyanMear 2 года назад
That look was a look of being completely surprised by a totally original idea like nothing I've heard. It was sheer joy! If they did something acoustically, the vocals (of course the melodic constant) would soar and bits of the chaos would remain, but much like BAND-MAID, they would have to write almost entirely new arrangements. OR.... they would just pay it anyway perfectly on acoustic... which wouldn't surprise me one bit.
