Considering its Sol, coming out of a Bar fight isnt necessarly out of character, Sol main certainly have a reputation to keep and thats really how i saw them, all in or nothing
The english one is so close to being good but it feels like he has all the energy at the beginning and then just nopes out by the time the move comes out. If he gave as much energy to the rest of the line as he did at the beginning it'd be perfect.
Its especially noticeable with Tyrant Rave. In JP he goes TYRANT RAAAAAAVE and keeps the energy the entire time, but for whatever reason, he goes TYRANT, and then lowercase rave and it kinda kills it. His “ENOUGH TALKING” is pretty good tho
I am Japanese, so I like Jouji Nakata's voice best, which I am used to hearing, but I think the quality of the voices in all languages is high, with a "blunt" feel.
English is like Starting great but flopping at the end so. It also happens to other characters, even other games so from the same company. It aint that bad tho, mostly counting in how bad the english dub for DBFZ is sometimes.
I prefer the english version of Sol Badguy because of the way the english VA conveys the kind of person Sol is as a person. I don't think a lot of Sol's personality comes across very well in his Japanese voice, and its because Sol's personality doesn't mesh well with Japanese as a language. I've linked an example of some of the best conveyance of personality below: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h_QFrfw5pBY.html And here's the same moment in the Japanese version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z3HXXg1Jq5A.html I just don't think his Japanese voice hits all that hard outside of combat. And thats really what it comes down to. His Japanese gets across the cool shit in his fighting, and his english gets across more of his personality.
Plus, Sol is described as a quite lazy dude. He probably wouldn't tear his lungs while shouting the name of the attack like Japanese VA does. He would just sound angry.
Some stuff sounds really good but others feel weak in comparison to the japanese ver, like the Tyrant rave in English Japanese : Tyrant! RAAAVE! English: TYRANT! rave
He's got some pretty funny voice lines too. When you do gunflame feint he'll say things like "Oooh, I gotcha!" and during wild throw he grabs you and said "This'll hurt!" and sounds pretty excited to be slamming your face into the ground so hard the dirt explodes
My god that english Tyrant Rave was the weakest i have ever heard! It started out good but fell off so badly at the end! He didn't even try to scream out Rave!
It's the least popular opinion but I just feel like the Japanese voice is the weakest choice. The voice is great, just not on Sol. Both the Korean and English voices are deeper and have a rasp to them that fits him perfect. I like English overall the most but Korean definitely blows the supers out of the park.
@@iimraiju107 He’s definitely different from the Japanese version but not in a bad way, he’s great in his own right and does give off the feeling he doesn’t wanna put in more effort than he needs to
@@wolfkiller4 This feels like the whole dub across the board. Like Happy Chaos has two fantastic voices but entirely different approaches, Japanese being unimpressed and trying to find entertainment while the English version is having a blast the whole time.
