This is one of those instruments that you have crazy synth geek dreams about and then wake up thinking: nah, nobody would ever make anything like this.
A true musical instrument - and I would not say this about most analog or digital synths. In the right hands, the 42 will transport its owner into the zone. A place where it's just you and the music. Time stands still, nothing matters except the sensation of creation. The process is fueled by the same stuff that powers the universe. The millions of microscopic nuclear detonations that occur in your cells during the creation process. That is what the zone is and this synth could get you there. This is coming from a very cynical muso, it's not BS though, I can tell this is a very special instrument One observation. 'Ambient'. Yes, it's that, but it's also a Techno soundscape machine. There's some really cool techno out there this synth would be ideal for. Deep pounding syncopated drums on top of a layer of improvised Solar 42 - yup that would work. PS: It's all good, but from 12.04 the tune is excellent and the imagery at the end of the video - most splendid😎
@@enthalpimusic4113 No, I don't have one. My comment is based on what I'm hearing and the aesthetics and design of the synth - and also from personal experience of the Zone.
@@MOOTANT1 To read you, I hoped you had one because I think the same as you and I would have hoped that an owner confirmed my thoughts. Whatever happens, I don’t think we’re wrong about the Solar 42 :) Can't wait for it !
@@enthalpimusic4113 We're not wrong It's not a synth for every situation, it's a specialist. Ambient, Techno, and could have done the entire score for the movie Arrival. 😉
Fantastic capabilities in that machine you cats have made! Extra kudos for the "Stalker" nod. That film transports one to another realm, much like the SOLAR 42. I'm in love!
I commented on the 1st video, and here I am again, because, it deserves even more praise!! I saw and heard the inception of ambient music, even harking back to Floyd, Hawkwind, Tangerine Dream. But into the surge of Ambient/Trance type music, with Optica/Optic Eye, Astralasia, Banco de Gaia, Eat Static, Reload, Higher Intelligence Agency, Biosphere, Etnica, The Orb, Feeler, etc, etc. And THIS is the instrument they all wished they had. Once I get mine, I will NEVER leave my studio, I'll have my Mrs. Bring me meals through a hatch in the door!!! This is not JUST an ambient machine, it's a cosmic SciFi atmosphere generator, a cinematic sound compendium of infinite possibilty!!! I'm suspecting some kind of Extra Terrestrial intervention, this thing is beyond Earthly!!! This WILL be going on my productions!
This thing really excites me more than any other gear has in a while! I've long been searching for the perfect bedtime synth for slowly sculpting a pad while playing myself to sleep, and this just might fit the bill! The only thing stopping me from buying one immediately is the polivoks filter-- I generally like the tone of it, but just want something more lush in this type of an application. But I'm still very intrigued! I'll be interested to see some photos of the other colors once there's more of these in world
I don't think I can wait until August. If I ask really really nicely can I get mine sooner? Jokes aside: I think that contact mic has some very very interesting possibilities. I'll definitely be playing with that.

1- that little sun corona looking circle at the very bottom center of the touchplates under the display; 2- yes! and so much more: banging on the case, playing with the feedback, all sorts of fun mayhem!
I would probably be inspired enough by this, to make a hundred videos for RU-vid, playing it along side my LXR-02, which is also from Latvia! I just finally began putting together a studio, in my extra front bedroom, that will have proper audio/video for RU-vid. Wish I could afford to order one of these, so bad. I would do it right now! can I make it sync with my LXR-02's MIDI clock? [Edit: Looks like no MIDI?]
Excellent! I have several devices with clock outputs, as well!@@ELTAmusicthis is a fantastic instrument! Just have to save up my pennies. Also: Really love that a scale can be assigned to the "keyboard" That's one of the great things about many phone and tablet apps, that only the relevant notes are shown in the interface, removing all the un-used keys/buttons, and eliminating the possibility of hitting an incorrect note, not belonging to the current scale in use. (DRC on Android, for example, which I love jamming on, away from the studio!)
Customers will need pegs for the rubber bands, for the contact mic, if they don't want to stress the potentiometer shafts. I think customers could replace some screws with same-threaded pegs (screws with longer tops... whatever can be sourced). As long as they replace only one at a time, one out, one in, instead of removing a whole bunch before putting any new ones in. I know that's common sense, but hey. So, yeah... rubber bands mounted to a resonant metal surface with a contact mic = a fun combo.
@@GizzyDillespee Ha ha! I found them rather surprising. Regardless, I have preordered one of these and think it is one of the coolest synths to come along in a while! Plus... it is the second version, so they've been working on it. Though, to be sure, I'm no professional, just a home hobbyist dilettante who loves synths.
