solar eclipse or Suraj girhan is a phenomenon when moon comes in between sun and earth and blocks sun rays from reaching earth, thus creates darkness.
Solar eclipse will be observed on 8th of April 2024 throughout world, it may be complete or total but this time it will be total eclipse. Though it persists for hours but total eclipse persists only for few seconds or few minutes.
It's something very interesting and eye catching that you observes darkness at day time and people usually want to enjoy this scene and stares directly at sun but its effect on eyes are very dangerous and harmful, as ultra violet rays are focused on retina and especially fovea, which has got the finest vision, it may burn fovea and can lead to permanent loss of vision.
patient may not present directly after looking at sun but it may develop hours or few days later, usually patient presents with decreased vision, distorted vision , things may appear small (micropsia) or large (macropsia), patient may observe large central black spot (central scotoma) ,also there is difficulty in differentiating colors (dyschromatopsia).
unfortunately there is no specific treatment for solar retinopathy, recovery may be spontaneous and can can take 3-6 months but in many cases damage is usually permeant.
people wear normal sun glasses, or those glasses which are used by wielders or some people hold X ray film before their eyes , so that it will give protection but these things will NOT GIVE ANY PROTECTION to your eyes, if you are interested to watch and enjoy this scene, then you must wear glasses which are made on international safety guidelines and has specific code ISO 12312-2, i have shown its pics in my vidoe, also make sure if your are showing binoculars or telescope, then make sure that solar filters are attached, otherwise it can damage your eyes.
