More recent designs of solar light don't have an LDR. They use the solar panel to determine night-time. When the daylight fades, the solar panel output drops and the circuitry senses this and turns on the LED. Light Dependant Resistor not needed. Unfortunately, a faulty solar panel is generally not replaceable, so the lamp becomes junk.
Wow, I was brought here by your other video on the DCEN conversion. I have a few of these lawn lamps but they’re the Home Depot specials and they have the same problem. With this instructional video I think I can do this task myself! Usually I ask my father-in-law to help me with things like this! Thanks FTRR!
Thank god I found someone with my problem, have Costco wall or fence mounts and light staying on , can’t see photocell on the outside but will now open for internal inspection
