@YukonHawk1 Thanks, unlike many channels I actually still use a lot of the stuff you see in my videos. Sure some stuff is junk but I try to stay away from some of this stuff companies wanna promote. So much never makes it on the channel.

@YukonHawk1 over all they are getting better with customer service and they said at the show they hired a new person who was at A-ipower for that department. And also more parts availability. I really like the maxpeedingrods 3500 and pulsar 4000 dual fuel. Both made from genmax/dinking power. The pulsar DF 4000 is my current unit. I mainly use propane now. What’s up Honda…where’s the DF..???

ROI not only considerations: 1: $600 tax credit on the 12,000 unit only from Inflation Reduction Act and 2.: new R32 refrigerant models coming out in 2025. Current models have soon to be phased out R410A refrigerant. Buyer beware. He doesn’t mention these two major points…

I just watched another video where someone shared one year of actual performance. The chart showed their usage of solar power and grid power by month, and multiplied by the average $0.125 electric price in the USA, the unit saved $5 a month in power. Obviously, there are lots of factors, location, sunlight, heating and cooling demands, number and cost of panels, trees, and more. The cheapest mini-split systems are now around $600; these solar mini-splits are around $2,000 for the system, plus panels. The solar mini-splits are not that much more than the name brand mini-splits. I would like to see more data, from more people, in more locations.on the actual savings before drawing solid conclusions. Sometimes it can be very expensive ($30,000+) to run power to buildings such as sheds and barns; in these cases using a unit like this to turn it into climate controlled storage could be fantastic.

These solar hybrid 12k units are about $1250 and less than $2000 for a system with panels after you include my discount. So depending how many panels you get and where you put the panels you can easily be up and running for under $2000. And now there is a hybrid 24k unit

Thanks for doing this Johnny. I was wondering if anybody made something like this. Wish I saw this before I bought my EcoFlow Wave2, but for my situation, it makes sense for now since I would need to buy more panels and I don't want to mount on the roof of my current structure. When I finally get my regular house, I'll be looking at installing this. Keep the hits coming.

@land0mancapt.stupid857 these hybrid units are single only from all that I have seen. And yes my Rv has the flex panels from renogy and one year review in about two or 3 weeks Fully tested and all, so will see if they are junk or still killing it! 👍🏼

Two major points left out: 1. 30% tax credit up to $2,000 per year from I.R.A. That knocks off $600 off your current tax year! But only the 12,000 btu is allowed, not the 24,000 model. 2. 2025 brings new federal refrigerant requirements. Now, the EG4 has R410A, but all units sold in 2025 and beyond will be R32 and R454B refrigerant charged. Europe and Asia as usual have been ahead of us for years and already have R32. So this R32 has been tested in the field. So you may want to wait for the new designs otherwise after a few years, you won’t be able to get R410A anymore if you have a leak. And R32 cannot be used in an old R410A system. Wait til the units come out before you buy…

I’ve been eyeballing that exact unit for a while now. It would be perfect for my 375 square foot man cave. Can it be plugged directly into the wall, or does it have to be hardwired? I may have to add one more panel to my array, but that’s no problem. 🤠🇺🇸

Technically ………I think permitted and hard wired, butttttttttt 😂 Since mine is not permanently mounted yet as I dont know yet “where” I want to put it, I have an extension cord I use to power it for now. 😁👍🏼

Great video. Curious, are there any companies that make a good "micro" mini split, specifically for RVs(?) Reason I ask, I'd like to get rid of the old giant OEM AC on the roof of my RV, so I can run a much longer solar panel in that space. If anyone knows of a ms that might work in an RV setting, with relatively easy installation, please let me know.

Ughh, we are all looking for one. I did see one at a show but it was real spendy. Kinda like an all in one wave two but bigger. Good for small RVs, but now my size. Im hoping to grab a new all in one rv AC/ mini split for the front. Should be way more efficient and much quieter. Plus it will heat as well. So trying to get a hold of one now and see if its really any good or all hype

Not in the Arizona sun when it's 114 degrees for 3 months. We have 1800Sqft. and will need 3 tons or maybe get by with 2-1 tons system kits. Location, location, location. Phoenix

EG4 now makes a 2 ton system. Many times mini-split systems can do way more than people expect. I know a man in Montana who got one of the very early 12K mini-splits units over ten years ago and used to it to provide about 70% of the heat for his two story house. Part of the reason these units do well is they run all the time, (compared to the cycling of larger hvac units). They are also very effcient with little in losses from ducting.

When dealing with heat of those extremes, it would seem like lots of insulation in the attic, radiant barriers, and an attic fan to vent hot air would be helpful starting steps. Special heat resistant glazes on windows and blinds might help. Then using any mini-split with a very high efficiency would help. But Wow. That is hot. Good luck!

Very helpful thankyou. Question, when the sun goes down, do you have to flip a transfer switch and or turn on a breaker to power it off of house power? Or does this unit toggle back and forth from solar to house power on it's own? Thanks again.

It’s all automatic when plugged into solar and AC. It will prioritize solar and if there is not enough it ill start drawing from AC. So it could be half and half at times. It’s so cool!

No battery needed!! Hook up solar panels direct to the unit and goooo!!!! So cool, literally 😁 No of course once sun if off panels unit shuts down unless you are plugged into a 110v source.

I mean people are doing it and if you can run enough solar even better. Not sure how big the van is but you need a decent amount of solar just to turn it on. Still can use 1200 watts of AC

@@johnnysweekends thank you so I decided on the cigs solar panel because of their durability. I just purchased two 100 W panels and could have room for another 200 W panel for a total of 400 W. I wonder if I could get high with that and about 460 W hours or amp hoursof lithium batteries

Space is so tight in a van, consider the Ecoflow portable solar powered heat pump air conditioner. It is much smaller, but is also solar powered and can even run at night via a power station.

I get what you saying about saving money and the unit can pay for itself compared to using a traditional AC unit. I want to say some cars like a Toyota Camry will also save you money and pay for itself when compared to another more expensive car with higher payments 😁

Can I run this unit on solar panels only? Meaning it will shutt off each time a cloud goes over or its cloudy and will this be bad for this unit?

Yes as explained in the video nothing else is required. It will run on solar only. But if you live where clouds come and go often then you need to add more solar and get to the upper voltage range. More like 8 panels so it doesn’t click on and off. Now if it’s full clouds and dark then sure it could click off. But again if you over panel it can stay running. Just dont go over that max voltage range for the specs.

@L-NEGRO this is something you can absolutely do. I have solar panels plugged into mine and also AC. It will run off solar till shade start to happen then pull extra power from AC to keep it running. You can watch this happen in the app. Say 300 watts from solar and 800 or so from AC. Then it will switch back to full solar if clouds are gone. Which mine is also ran from either my trailer or My Ecoflow delta pro ultra. Excellent Combo! But make sure your solar setup has the correct amount of voltage and power for amps to run the mini on its own or it wont work properly. Then go ahead and and run off AC or DC or both. Hence you need more solar for both the EcoFlow and the mini 😂🤷🏼‍♂️👍🏼 Check here for prices on panels….they will be going up soon due to tariffs coming. Does the amps of the panels matter? My 420w panels are 38.73 VOC each but the IMP on each panel is 12.95 A. Manual for this mentioned 12 amps max?

No it will just waist the extra and only pull what it needs but you don’t wanna double it. Bolts are what’s important. Plus you never get the full amps anyway unless conditions are absolutely perfect and even then. But still doesn’t matter. You’re good 👍🏼

That condenser doesn't have proper clearances on the side and back. If you install one be sure to NOT do it like the one shown in this video.

I tell people read the manual. Manual states Ground mount: 12 inches from rear and left side Bracket mount: 6 inches from wall and 12inch on left side. In the video it’s pushed back, I’m currently 11.75 on left and almost 12 on rear. But bracket mount says as little as 6, on rear. So a smidge won’t hurt. But if you have more room the better. Mine is not permanently mounted.
