I have questions as to how the reporting is actually done. Does my unit send the performance data to SolarEdge or does SolarEdge pole the unit. The reason I ask is that my system initially updated the performance data within 3 to 4 hours. Lately the reporting is every 3 or 4 DAYS !. Is my unit defective or is SolarEdge intentially no longer reporting in a timely fashion ?

Good question! The inverter is responsible for pushing data out to the SolarEdge portal. The only common reason for such delayed reporting would typically have to do with the network connection. Is your inverter hardwired VIA ethernet to your router/switch?

No it has a small antenna attached. Does that communicate with the router inside my house ? Could resetting my router solve the problem ? I think I tried that when the problem first occurred. At other times the data got reported after three or four days without doing anything to the router.

Hey David, if you have an antenna, you either have a Zigbee set-up or a GSM cellular set-up. If Zigbee, you will have a monitoring gateway connected to your router in the house that is linked to the inverter VIA the antenna outside. The gateway will look like a small, white router. If you do not have a gateway, then you likely have a GSM set-up, in which case the issue may be with the coverage or with the GSM subscription. Usually they come with a pre-paid 5 or 12 year subscription.

My Solar Edge app has no where near the detail of this presentation.

Hey Ernie, the short and simple answer for that is a matter of the view privileges determined by your installer. Installers have the option to provide one of three customer view types, with the most minimal basically just being the overview dashboard.

At roughly :30, you say the utility commissions the inverter. The utility does not commission the inverter. The solar installer commissions the inverter.

How to remove my old module serial number.and replace bew module serial number.

Hey Lan, the SolarEdge platform captures the inverter and optimizer serial numbers (i.e. it does not manage solar panel SN's). To change a panel/module, you simply shut down the system, unplug the connector for that module going into the optimizer, install the new panel and plug it into the optimizer module input, and then start the system back up. The system is more or less panel agnostic, and won't directly know that you even changed the panel.

If replacing an optimizer, then you have to have access to the admin screen under your SolarEdge monitoring (if an installer is responsible for your system, chances are only they have access to it). Under the admin section, you go to layout, select the optimizer being replaced, and then use the device replacement button to enter the SN of the new optimizer relative to the old one being replaced. They have made this process quite simple now. Hope that helps!

The online site installation process is quite different, and must be completed prior to being able to access the customer end of the dashboard. To set up the site, one needs an installer login and the SolarEdge installer apps (SetApp only if inverter is newest version). My suggestion would be to simply find a local installer willing to set it up for you. Otherwise, you have to go through the Installer application and such.

My installer won’t give me access to anything. I get red warnings - clicking etc. nothing I get one daily graph. It’s ridiculous. Now I have problems where dawn and dusk I get clicking and red light they say it’s my electric or surge etc. and lol nothing needs to be done. I am almost willing to get access myself set up they say I need to be named installer then. But I do call Solar Edge. I’m just sad I bought mine outright can’t get alerts.
