Dude I have been a cabinet maker for 45 years, this is one of the coolest table tops I have ever seen, from a fellow craftsman, well done, my father let him rest taught me everything I know and I wish he was alive today to see what you made. Keep up the excellent work and make the real tradesman proud.
Hi Jim, you should be very happy that you had someone teaching you. I'm just learning from RU-vid and trial/error, sometimes a tough road 🤠. Thanks for your comment, means a lot
I just built my first little wooden entry table the other day (a project that required 5% of the impressive skillset you show here) and even then I felt so proud of my little creation. I have a lot of respect for you, your effort and time you put into this and I'm glad you were compensated for it. Subscribed because of the non-intrusive way it was asked.
Fam you deserve all the subscribers! You kept it real no BS RU-vid magic editing you haves us the flaws and all. Honestly those additions showed how you made this a better project. Thank you for that.
I have watched only 2 of your videos as I found your channel yesterday, but man this is good stuff. This is so pure and honest, somehow you make fancy crafts without doing much fancy work. As an amateur/beginner woodworker this channel is great to learn from and I love your vibe. Greetings from Finland!
You gave me the courage to start my woodworking journey, I'm making a ton of mistakes, but I'm also learning a lot. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
I can’t believe you made something so beautiful from scrap. It’s pretty cool that the pieces came from so many different countries. A truly international table lol.
I've been subscribed for a while but I just seen this today and also your "bedroom pallet" build video... haha... love your sense of humor and it is an inspiration. I too, use pallets and build all kinds of things... YES a "pallet buster" tool and "pneumatic de-nailer" are a MUST if your are serious about doing things with pallets. For the past 5 years+ I had been using a circular saw/reciprocating saw etc...EVEN a chainsaw to ease the dismantling process for pallets. It ALWAYS came down to the crowbar/hammer etc.... It is so cool to see like-minded people. If you want to DO THIS? GET A PALLET BUSTER(swivel-end type) AND a de-nailer... your welcome. (I speak from experience)
I like your open and honest approach, I also particularly like and respect that you recommend other woodworkers on the platform. This video is interesting, informative and entertaining, and I am very pleased to have found your channel and to have subscribed. From pallet scraps to an original and unique table was really enjoyable to see, and you are clearly very experienced in what you do.
Hey thanks Felix, and yeah I wouldn't be anything at all without all the other better makers on the platform and everywhere else, it's only appropiate to mention them when you can.
I rarely ever comment on any profile's videos, however this video was simply incredible. The cinematography, audio, and woodworking were all spectacular.
Your work is Beautifully Genius. I work for the “king” of fasteners (distribution) and I too have a passion for working with reclaimed pallets and skids - so the aforementioned lends me access to assortment from around the globe. Sometimes I have to put the projects on hold, just to spend several days breaking down pallets, cleaning and sorting, cutting, sizing and inventorying (OCD and ADT makes this process overwhelming, but I get it done). Your video on “How to dismantle pallets without destroying them” was full of knowledge! Anyway - You have mad skills in the pallet shop my man !! I have subscribed and while I do some watch over you past videos, I look for to your new ones. Keep on, Keepin’ on !!!!
Thank you Calvin, it's very thoughtful of you to make this comment. Preparing your material always takes some time, whether it's dismantling pallets or sawing up logs on the mill. Take care, and keep on building!
Thank you Jasper for your videos. I love the way you show us the mistakes you did, to help us to avoid them. And I love the table. I am thinking on really try it!!
Hey Carlos, I'm thrilled to hear you're considering giving it a shot! Remember, every mistake is just a learning opportunity in disguise. Can't wait to hear how your table turns out! Cheers! 🛠
I am very new to woodworking and your videos really give some great tips and tricks and you give some really great insight. Glad to watch all the way from South Africa!
Sharing the mistakes might seem small, but that alone might save someone who's learning a lot of time, money, and heartache, good stuff sir! Subscribed
You’ve earnt a subscription from me mate. I first came to your page after a recommendation from Mark Dainer. Came back again yesterday and watched your euro pallet busting tips. Worked a treat saved me hours of work.
Very nice Jesper! I have made a few table tops from pallet wood. Instead of glue and acrylic, I use construction adhesive to fill the gaps and nail holes. The result is amazing.
Hello my dear friend Jesper, It's such a great design. Freelance style and decoration from pallet blocks. It was a good idea to flatten it with the router. It was nice that you kept the rustic look. nice sanding and polishing at long intervals. The result is magnificent. A wonderful rustic look. all the colors are vibrant and flamboyant. you did a great job. This coffee table is really beautiful. Decorative and stylish. Real recycling and pleasure. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing all the details. I also love the video recording technique. fluid and film quality. I see the tags of many of our mutual friends in you. That makes me happy. (I did a similar work with epoxy resin 2 years ago. And I was disappointed. The result was unsuccessful. And I guess I didn't know the intricacies of working with epoxy resin at that time. This was my epoxy resin adventure too) :-) See you always. Stay healthy and happy. Big greetings. Kind regards. Your friend Mehmet
Hi Mehmet, thank you so much for watching my film! I think it turned out great in the end, and I learned so much. I will definately do more epoxy resin projects in the future. Used right it can really add something to a table, and it can allow you to use wood that othervise could not have been used (e.g. rotten wood etc. ) Some of the blocks in this table came from Turkey, and whenever I look at the table I think of how it came together with parts from all over the planet. What are you working on right now?
3 года назад
@@JesperMakes 🙏👍Yes, Jesper. I agree with you. Pieces from different countries. (You wrote that you also came from Turkey in your video) recycling and it was a great result. I'm making a dresser these days. A nightstand with 2 drawers. I shared some tips pictures on Instagram. I hope the video will be on my channel in 1 week. See you later. Take care of yourself. Cheers Jesper. Your friend Mehmet.
It's admirable that you didn't edit out your mistakes, thank you for keeping it authentic. Most my mistakes work out lol, most don't as well, thing is I learn from every one! Thanks so much for some great tips! Also some fellow links & resources..that's decent. Great table btw, no doubt it sold, it's Spectacular!! Well made! Solid!
Wow, thank you for the compliment! I'm flattered that you think my mistakes are admirable. To be honest, I'm just too lazy to go back and edit them out. Keeping it authentic is just my way of saying "hey, I'm human and I make mistakes too!" As for my table, I'm glad you think it's spectacular and well made. It was a labor of love, but I'm happy to report that it did indeed sell (for a decent price, I might add). Thanks again for your kind words and for watching my video. I'm always happy to share my tips and resources with fellow creators. Keep on learning and making mistakes, they can be great teachers!
Just a random viewer here, what a fantastic table! Love the way it came out. But also I was excited by your first too dark finish as well. Japanese lacquer. I understand why you made the choice you did, but it would have been stunning either way. Now I have to look at your other videos as well, because the editing and production was excellent. Thanks for posting!
I just wanna say this build inspired me to start building my own furniture, and I'm currently in the process of making my first coffee table. Much love man
@@soothingsounds1784 Clients: If you're just starting out I would go through friends and family first and make them something. Take pictures of and post on social media. Then your family may recommend you to somebody else, and people will look you up and see nice pictures. Visit bars and cafe's. Try Etsy. Make some videos and put on RU-vid.
Hey Jesper love the table. It would have been cool to have had more of the pallet labels on the side but still an awesome project. Thanks for the mention 👍🏻
Thanks, yeah I needed to sand it down a few times, so that took some of it, the owner seems to think theres a good balance betweeen pallet references and tabletop. I was happy to mention you, you're one of my absolute favorite channels to look for answers and ideas on how to solve things.
Watched Dainer Made video for first time and he referred your RU-vid channel and said you do amazing stuff and he was right! Thanks for letting us see you create and inspire us!
I have 3 pallets out the back from a retaining-wall job that we did last year. I contemplated using them to either build a doghouse or use them as walls for a compost heap. You have inspired me to aim higher. Thanks..!
Great job! I loved watching your trials and errors and how you fixed them. It turned out great…I just hope your wife wasn’t too disappointed that you decided to sell it! 😉
Ahaha 😂 - I sold it, but my wife was in on that decision, and I promise you my wife AND our house are not missing out on weird things made from reclaimed wood 😁.
First and foremost, thank you for this video. It’s nice to see you admit and show the mistakes you feel you made. That’s very humble and appreciated from me especially as a much less experienced woodworker of sorts. Secondly, the end product of your labour turned out beautifully, great job!!
Oh and this is the first of your videos I’ve seen so I’m not sure if it’s a consistent thing as it was in this video but may I kindly suggest you turn up your commentary or turn down the background sounds/music. It was just a bit difficult to hear your commentary at some points in the video
So my wife thought the first few seconds should be compulsory viewing for all makers.... then on second viewing, I came to realise you said you made this FOR your wife.... then sold it to the Bar instead 🤣 Brave man. Thanks for the shoutout, and what a great learning project. Yep, cheap wood will soak up resin like a sponge. I don't think many people have ever taken fire to a resin project either 😂 But the bar got a bargain... would have been a grand in resin in there alone.
Thanks James, I'm currently building another coffee table, and you can be sure I don't take any selling decisions without my wife's approval 😁. It looks like people enjoy this video, RU-vid keeps recommending it to new people, so the time spent on editing could be worth while. Thanks to both of you 💖 for supporting me, it means a lot.
One of Dainer's video popped up randomly in my feed and he mentioned your channel. Came here and that pallet block coffee table made me an instant subscriber! Beautiful work!
Excelente trabajos Jesper. Muy buena idea para reciclar esos pedazos de madera que generalmente se queman. Felicitaciones. un Abrazo de Santa Cruz, Argentina
Hi just seen your video. Wow. Your table top looks absolutely gorgeous and it was fun to see you go through all the tries and mistakes which many of us actually do on the the way to finding what we want and find beautiful. Congratulations on a wonderful piece of craftmanship. Your wife must have a big smile when she saw it in its finished form as it would lift the energy of any place you had it.
Thanks Tara, in the beginning I was trying to be perfect, but no one likes that, so now I just leave in all the embarrassing stuff and errors I do, and my channel exploded... So much for wanting to be an expert 😜
Never would have thought I'd use a block like that what a beautiful piece good job absolutely amazing the way the grains go against one another color contrast between species absolutely beautiful 💯👍
This is the first time I've subscribed to a channel. This is the second or third video of yours that I watched. The first one was the pallet block river table. As I recall there were a couple videos grouped with that one. Everything of yours I watched was inspiring and entertaining. I hope folks take your lead and start picking up discarded objects and making stuff out of it. It is that easy. Then after a while, The stuff you make Performs its intended function and is pleasing to the eye as well. Your editing is slick and keeps simple animals like me glued to the screen. Go Jesper Go!
Just got into woodworking recently - the table is very sick, but I love the production of the video just as much. Great Cuts storytelling, grading and music.. Subscribed and wish you every success with the channel
This is so awesome man. I take woodworking as a bit of a hobby and not a job so I'm no way as good as you, but man this is such an inspiration. The way you show that even though you're awesome at what you do, you still learn to make do with the mistakes that were made and STILL end up with an amazing result. Will for sure be watching this video when I decide to make a coffee table of my own. Keep it up man, subbed instantly.
Thanks for the kind words! I'm always happy to share my woodworking with anyone who is interested. And don't worry about your English language skills - woodworking is a universal language, and we can all communicate through the language of sawdust and power tools. Keep on enjoying the videos and maybe one day you'll be building your own projects too!
What a pleasure it was to watch this video! All the effort you go to in filming and editing is worth it. A++ :) and wow what a brilliant finish to that table, just gorgeous
BRAVO!! Beautiful table. I may build one like that for my kitchen table. AWESOME project! Very creative as I would have never thought about doing that with pallet blocks! Checking out another of your videos next.
@@JesperMakes Sho Sugi Ban table finish.. I ended up watching a couple last night and a couple more this morning. I see used pallets as an under-utilized resource for woodworkers..
Thanks a bunch! I'm also really happy about this video, it looks like youtube had some people who previously had searched for something with pallet blocks without any good results, so it decided to serve this video to them in their feed.
This is really great work. Including your mistakes is really useful for someone trying to learn about woodwork. Also, don’t worry about asking for subscriptions. People with far lower quality content do it, and yours is awesome.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm always happy to share my mistakes and learning experiences with others, because let's face it, we all make mistakes when we're starting out (and sometimes even when we're more experienced). And you're right, there's no shame in asking for subscriptions - we all need a little support and encouragement to keep creating and sharing our work. Thanks for the support, and happy woodworking!
Jesper what a killer video, well done! I sat with a smile on my face the whole way through! A1 work on the editing, pacing, storytelling, and of course, the woodworking! Well done!
Hi Mario, thanks so much for watching. Those words coming from you means a lot. When looking a the raw footage it was quote boring with all that gluing and sanding, so I tried to jazz it up a little.
New subscriber and binge watcher here, love your content Jesper! Also really respect the way you responded to one of the very negative fellows on here, class act you are! Cheers from Northern California!
Thanks mate, I really appreciate your comments. I really like indepth comments, both positive and negative. There's often a lot of honesty and truth hidden in the very negative comments and I learn a lot from them.
Well done Jesper, that came out great ! Yea you are right, it does look much better after the re sand and finish. Another epic video too, I always enjoy them. Thank You for the awesome shout out as well mate, Much Appreciated, Cheers !
Hi David, thank you for your support, I was happy to be able to make a short plug for your awesome channel mate. I hope to do more in the future. I'll do some more epoxy resin projects and I'll talk about the master of resin in those...
Some people really like the unique stuff, try looking at Etsy and see what people buy. If you are targeting the IKEA segment of buyers, yes, you'll get 50 bucks
great video, i’ve got a bunch of these same kinda wood block, just waiting for you to share your method. thanks for sharing. it is also refreshing to hear your danish accent, half my family is danish.
Absolutely tremendous work! Such a novel idea and a stunning result! Intrigued to try something similar but the sheer cost of the epoxy is a little intimidating... Could obviously square up the blocks and fill the nail holes first to reduce gaps but I think the black voids are part of the charm. Also, video is beautifully produced and has a real sense of narrative. Well done.
Thank you for your kind words and insightful feedback! I'm flattered that you find my work absolutely tremendous. I agree that the black voids are charming and the epoxy cost is worth it for stunning results. I'm glad you enjoyed the video's production and narrative. Thank you for your support and thoughtful comments. Keep on woodworking!
I love this video. You are a world class craftsman. Look, the idea of craft is not = to science or flawless design. It is a person who does cool stuff. You are there. Never appologize. Thank You.
Hi Rodger, thank you so much for the nice comment, I find this very funny and fulfilling to do, and I just hope to inspire others to not being afraid to start building something. Cheers mate
Great project and excellent video. I love how you just start it and see where it goes and adjust your process to what is needed. That's a lot like how I do my projects. Also, I like your choice of whiskey!
I kind of agree with "Coffee solves everything", but you know what?, Coffee + Your worklog videos, makes a perfect morning... Love it man!, thanks for sharing your art.
Hey Jesper! You earned my subscription, as-well as my respect for your reply on the pinned comment. He was out of hand for his disrespectful comment and it's ridiculous to try and fault you for (Not asking) but very kindly requesting people *consider* subscribing. and even more ridiculous to correct a non-native speaker in such a rude way. You did excellent work on that table!
Hi Jake, thank you for your comment. There's always a reason behind it when something goes akward in the workshop or when somebody reacts very emotionally with a comment on something they see. I think I have turned some angry commenters over to be positive commenters just by being honest with them. I have yet to block somebody from the channel. Cheers, Jesper
My dog chewed my coffee table make me one too lol. I just got a bunch of free pallets I wasnt sure how to take them apart until I saw your video on how to. Thanks for sharing your pallet knollege
@@JesperMakes Not yet I am building a pallet dismantler with a little Native knollege from my ansestors. I was going to build a big wedge and push the pallets down with a ratchet strap. That didnt work so good lots of boards broke and cracked. My next attempt at this will be a big lever I built for about 1 cdn dollar in screws. I will post my video soon all tag you in it when it is ready.
Great video great instructions. The thing I like the most is that you don't "go with the curve" you make your own wave with your own ideas and work. Subscribed
Spectacular! Love the table! Like the way you filmed the video. And dig the song towards the end! I look forward to watching more of your stuff!! Nice work
Just came for dainer made. Was directed to you. Subscribed to both channels. I am a hobbyist. I want to pick up woodworking again. Nice channel. I love unique stuff
It's great how you don't skip past any of your mistakes. They're all things I could picture myself doing, or at least I could have before I watched this. You're doing fine work. There were a couple spots where I couldn't hear what you were saying, like you were talking from behind all the other sounds. It would probably help to mix the voice channel a little different so it stands out more when there's a lot of other sounds. Just use an EQ to lower the midrange frequencies of everything else for the parts that are noisy. Your voice will stand out a lot more without making everything too quiet
This is the second vid of yours that I have watched today, I was subbed before the ask, I truly enjoy what your doing. Not only that but I am learning, thank you for producing such great content.
That's awesome to hear you're enjoying the content and picking up some new skills along the way! Thanks for being a subscriber and sticking around. More cool stuff coming your way, so stay tuned! Cheers! 🛠️🎥
The business next to my new job has a steady supply of furniture pallets they are happy to let me have. Thank you for doing this video. Subscribed. Slowly learning the best way to reclaim the wood.
This is the 1st time I've watched a video of yours (after watching my 1st Dainer Made vid) & I love the block table. Nice craftmanship on the table! It tell ppl a story just by looking at it. Now I'm off to watch the pallet bedroom vid.
I love DIY, so far I broke a ton of stuff but I really enjoy watching people who can make stuff. This is a brilliant project, so I'm going to attempt to make something myself
First-class table, mate... loved it...!!! Having worked with epoxy quite a bit myself, I feel your pain as far as the leaking, sealing, sanding... more leaking... more sanding... blah blah blah blah... but the effort shines through in the finished product...! Well done...! :)
I know very little about this kind of work but after doing something similar from scrap wood I learned to prepare some of the scrap wood the same as my project so I could try different finishes on the scrap before applying it to my project, but you table looks awesome I hope your wife appreciates it.
