Wow! I loved this video. I'm a real estate investor in Dallas, Texas and I wish ALL realtors would use a presentation format like this: beautiful and thoroughly detailed! In particular, I wish all United Country franchises across the nation would do the same. A pleasure to see!
Just hope whoever buys it does the restoration correctly to honour the style of home, and make it up-to-date and above code with safety with electrical, plumbing, HVAC and structure. The Real Estate Agent did a good job showing the home.
I hate it when people purchase a vintage/historic home and gut it to the bones to modernize it. It changes the aesthetics and loses its characteristics. If they want a modern house, buy a modern one and leave the older homes for those who appreciate charm and craftsmanship associated with the style.
It was awesome until they showed the basement. That house will need jacked up and the entire basement removed and replaced. The foundation is falling apart and the water is getting in. $$$$
@@wendybrown7068Wow, That's really too bad, what a surprise to hear. In the short time I've listened to these showings I think they state that homes have issues, if they do. It's nice to hear from someone that's actually done an in person walk through. Thanks for sharing and commenting.
@@wendybrown7068 you must be an under-40 city person-- i grew up with a CELLAR like that only with smaller stone-- you don't just 'jack it up and replace it'-- you work WITH it, especially massive rock like that. And unless it's in a flood zone, you work with the surrounding landscape to channel water away and create drainage. The ill-informed 'flip' mentality wastes SO much valuable quality material in their quest for speed. Yeah time is money, but sometimes that's a false economy. With the money you'd spend lifting that massive house and getting those massive boulders out of there,, then putting in some crap 21st century concrete, you could do a helluva lot.
Insanely gorgeous house!! If only this was shown 10 years ago😭. Definitely has the makings for a bed & breakfast. Best wishes to whoever purchases this home!
Such a pity that this wasn't available six months ago. It would've made my "worth looking into" list when I was house shopping. I am certain that it will sell quickly. Congratulations and many years of happiness to whomever buys and restores this house.
A young family would do well in this house with the safety of Maine, good schools, ATV and snowmobile access... personally I love the old everything in it. The owners loved, honored and cherished!
@@barbaram5214 I don’t think people who choose to live in Island Falls are going to do remote jobs, they don’t even want their kids doing remote learning
What a great tour! Thank you, so entertaining and informative as well. The house is remarkable. I wish I could get my husband to move to Maine! He keeps saying NH is better for retirees...I'm not so sure. Anyway, Carmen, you did a great job. I just love the kitchen! Those cabinets!! And a butler's pantry, I love it. With a safe, lol!
Watch the property taxes in NH. It varies town to town. We have a normal 3 bed 2 1/2 bath house and we pay over $8k a year. I’d rather pay income tax! Lol
$89,900 seems like a steal to me for this very large home with that GORGEOUS staircase that enthralled me and had me hooked from the very beginning of our splendid tour. Great job!!!
When she says "This house has everything." I was wondering from the beginning if the house is possibly haunted..... Do the Kelley's still inhabit the house? It's a beautiful house and if I had that kind of money, I would love to live in a place like this.
Beautiful, amazing what location will do for a price, that house in the Hudson Valley would be a Minimum of $300K to almost 1M depending on town and view.
I was born in Maine. Miss my Granny's house in Hebron...Maine the people are down to earth with TRUE GRIT..sorry don't miss the winters anymore. Beautiful home could be magnificent with a tiny bit of love!!!
I read the disclosures. I estimated about $200,000 to fully restore, but would be beautiful after. There are some cracks in the walls so certainly have the foundation surveyed. Also the septic may need replaced since it hasn’t been cared for in over 20 years. Given all that, if I were younger I would still consider it.
Of course I'm in love with this house. And so very glad that some of the original woodwork, floors etc are still there. It looks pretty solid and has good 'bones' so to speak that can be used in any restoration. I think the price is amazing also for that size lot and the square footage contained in the house and barn as well.
I wish more houses such as this one still existed....I am grateful for a park we have called "Heritage Park" and many houses (fully furnished with items of that time), doctor offices, stores, school, church, mechanic shop, firetruck, part of a train, and so much more from my county in the time of mid to late 1800s into the early 1900s. It is absolute gem to visit.
My Grandma had a huge batch of rhubarb in her backyard. She'd snap off a stock, pour some sugar into a bowl and then send me out to the back porch to enjoy - dipping and chewing. My Mom would make rhubarb sauce and as a treat she'd make a pie. She would also cut off some stalks, chop it up and freeze it. My Mom always said cooking rhubarb was the best way to clean a pot.
I live in Los Angeles and have watched this video like 5 times. I just cant stop watching. The home, the video, the real estate agent, is all just too cute. And $89,000? I small 1 bedroom apartment in my neighborhood is $495,000 with $500 HOA. I hope in retirement I can buy a house like this and slowly bring it up to code and back to life. Carry on the great work. I love your little stories and background. I wish you good luck.
This house is amazing. I can't even begin to describe how drawn to it I am. It truly takes my breath away to watch this video. I can visualize my children playing our player piano in that music room and gathering around the table in the dining room. What an amazing experience it would be to live in such a beautiful space so full of character and history! Although I am looking to relocate Maine had not been on my list...until now anyway...LOL. I think I am in love!
If it was mine, I would DESTROY that nasty wood paneling! Then the wallpaper on all the walls would come down, I’d bring back the glory of the wood floors, finish the basement and put washer and dryer down there with room for canning. Finish the attic, however I would consider leaving it in the rough cuz kids LOVE places like that! And finally, I would begin to study the type of decor that was popular when this home was built, I’d try to follow that tradition as much as possible. I would definitely want a big old fashion (new) stove in the kitchen and a big farm table in kitchen also...NO open concept OR island, both of which I detest! There would have to be a fence (chest high) to keep kids and dog IN and strangers OUT!!!
I love Victorian monstrosities like this one because they are so unique and each one has a story behind it - but my eyes cannot unsee the wallpaper throughout the house. That would be what I'd dedicate the rest of my life to - getting rid of the wallpaper!
That would make a fantastic collector's home! For starts, that stairway deserves some coffered wall panels. Redwood or pine? I love that it has the stained glass. And the location smack in the middle of "year round fishing"!? BTW- Rhubarb is a "fruit stalk" much in the way celery is a vegetable stalk. And it IS wonderful. It makes a great pie, aspic or jam/jelly. (Mmmm. Apple-rhubarb pie..) You can even make a pungent brandy with it!
Our family has a Victorian in Alabama, which is going to be restored, but with modern conveniences and adding on a couple of rooms. It is a beautiful house.
I have family in this quiet old town with very long winters... I can’t wait to see who buys it and fixes it up! I wish I could buy to and move home and run a B&B in it!
This is such a gorgeous home. I am in the market for a home with more land. But, there is a part of me that wishes this was a perfect “fit”. Just lovely!
What a gorgeous old home !! It has everything , large yard , atv access , porches , pocket doors , and amazing architectural details ,,,,, what a deal/ steal ,,if only ,,,,,sigh .......
I would love to own this home. It’s a beautiful example of Victorian architecture. Although it does need some restoration it could be a great do it yourself project. If it’s Roof, wiring and plumbing are in good shape the restoration could be less expensive. Although the Winters are cold and Snowy the Spring, Summer and Fall are quite comfortable. As far as it’s yard areas go with a little imagination and good old hard work they could be transformed into beautiful oasis, you could put in a Pool or a relaxing hot Tub. I don’t know what the cost of heating the home in the Winter would be but I imagine it’s quite high. Although the cost would be offset if the warm months don’t require a lot of cooling using a Electric cooling system. I live in California but would gladly buy this home for Myself my Husband my Daughter and her three Children. The housing cost here are unbelievably high. A home like this beautiful Victorian would cost at the very least $1,000,000.00 if in central California and up to Five-six million If in Southern California or the San Francisco Bay area. I would like more information about this home, information that includes what condition the Roof, Electrical and Plumbing are in, if they need repair or replacement. What condition the Flooring is in, do they need repair or replacement. Information as to what kind of heating and cooling systems does the home have, and do they require repair or replacement l. As I said this is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture that needs a family to live it and care for it…
This house is a real charmer. Needs to get hooked up to NatGas. Heating Oil in winter probably 800$ a month. Gas probably 400$ a month. Very cold, long winters in Maine. With the right family it would be terrific.
The TAXES!!! My God, I pay over 10k /yr for my place in CT! I'm seriously considering moving to a place like this...subscribed for a very well-done walk thru video!
"For those who enjoy that kind of...frustration". Yep. That's exactly why I DON'T golf. LOL!! Lovely home. It would be a showstopper with a lot of love and some elbow grease.
