In 1966, I bought a '53 Custonline. My first car. Mine was green and didn't have overdrive. Being in Wisconsin, it rusted away on me. Paid $175, when I bought it.
... I had both a two door, and a four door for parts ... ... Had it for about 14 years ... Bought a rebuilt Short block, from Ford Obsolete on Beach Blvd, in Orange County, California... It had hardened valve seats and valves... As well as new pistons and such new parts... ... Loved it for all those years, until due to a divorce, I was forced to live in it for a while ... That didn't work out, as, let's face it, a hobby car is not always a daily driver choice ... Oh yeah, I had an original sun visor on it, from the parts car ... Looked tough ... Best regards...
Gosh, I love it. My Dad had a 53 just like that. Dark blue over light blue. I want it I love it. I'll trade you my 98 Mustang GT 1 family owner only 30,000 miles red, grey leather automatic. It's like new too.
remember 50s too standing on the back seat floor and hanging on the strap so not to fall back on my 6 siblings. did not have seat belts and my dad yell at me for hanging on his shoulder asking him are we there yet.
Originally, the car would've been a Yellow plate car. A CA black plate, beginning with 'J' would've been issued around 1963. (I actually prefer a CA black plate on this car) ;)
My grandmother bought a 52 brand new, and it had black plates, but different than these. The corners were rounded and the numbers and letters were thicker looking.
