SOLD! - We found a new home for this E-Type - BUT - we do have several additional early cars in stock that will be available soon - contact us directly using the information below to be added to the list of people who receive early notification for future E-Type projects.
-------------/
This very early 1961 E-Type Roadster is available FOR SALE from Monocoque Metalworks. It is one of the first 100 Left-hand-drive E-Type roadsters, and has the outside bonnet latches, flat floors, welded louvers, and literally HUNDREDS of other early E-Type features.
The car is complete and fully numbers matching, and we do have a heritage Certificate from Jaguar. It was built on June 7th, 1961, and dispatched to the United States on July 4th in its original colors of Opalescent Bronze with a Beige interior and a French Grey top.
This car is almost entirely original and untouched. ALL of the important early pieces are intact and in good, restorable condition. The ONLY missing components that I can see on the entire car are the motif bar, starter, vacuum reservoir tank, and front carpeting.
Interested parties should contact Chuck Hadley directly by phone in the US - (443) 907-2287, by WhatsApp outside the US using the same number - (443) 907-2287, or by email - chuck@monocoque-metalworks.com
This car will need total restoration, and like all E-Types, that includes extensive metalwork and rust repair in the lower sections of the body shell, including full floors, inner and outer sills, boot lower, lower valance of the bonnet, etc.
We can perform that work here at Monocoque Metalworks after the sale, or the car can be purchased and delivered as-is for you to perform the work yourself or at the restorer of your choice in your own country.

Lyon’s was always changing things through out the run. My early 65 coupe has many 3.8 features or transitional pieces like the prop rod instead of the scissor stay or luggage mat instead of covered boards, transmission tunnel and on and on. Archeology is the term!

It has a lot in common with a stranded Spitfire ... I always think eyewitnesses like this should be 'conserved' at their state .. she is telling such a wonderful story in every detail . and all of her era is dead and gone anyway 🌹💂

Just when you think that there are no more early cars to be found!

I would love to see a complete restoration of this car. I know many others agree this beauty should live a happy life again.

Yes, the gas cap is correct for early cars. Great find and wonderful showing of some of the differences.

Between 68-72 I worked for British Motors of Monterey ( Calif). the Rolls, Bentley, Aston Martin, Austin, Lotus, MG, Mini etc dealership and of course JAGUAR. I worked in the Rolls, Jag section of the shop. I did have the privilege of working on a couple of these early E-Types, both sold by our dealership. Lots of other anomalies on the early E-Type. Much like early Healeys, 62-64 MGBs, the early E-Type was special...best of all was the drive.. raw and celestial. . I opened the bonnets with my Triumph key...I still have my self made cam chain adjuster, engine lift brackets, valve compressor adapter, and a small booklet of notes for various measurements and settings. Commendable rescue and excellent presentation. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. I'll take a ride this morning in my 63 MGB and play Walter Mitty driving the 61 E Type.

If you havent already, get that booklet of notes into a format other people can read pronto! I'll bet Moss Motors would be interested.

Great video but please don't shout so much! Very, very interesting, your knowledge of early e types is amazing. My father had a 68 in blue. Wish I had the money to buy this one.

Hi Chuck . What a jewel ......ok a diamond in the rough maybe ! So l guess this won't be the same price as the coupe !!!! 😅😅😅 So the obvious question is why don't you restore it for yourself . I'd love to get my hands on this beauty but l have my 2+2 to finish and a wife that would say NO ! NO! NO! Thanks for sharing Chuck .

I already have too many E-Types, and any and all work on personal E-Types really needs to go into my ‘63 OTS from high school that is STILL very much apart! Plus I already have an OBL project car of my own as well… 🤦‍♂️😂
