Not my personal taste on the modern interior, but it's impressive to see what can be done. A great layout for a couple, interesting stove solution, and a proper amount of storage. The timbers in the forepeak are a bit of a head scratcher......
I guess the timbers in the forepeak are used when mooring against posts. They allow the timber to distribute the pressure from the post to multiple fenders long the hull.
@@Tomm9y Makes sense, but being they are bigger than normal for fender boards (they look like 4"x 6" or bigger to guess), they looked a bit out of place. That said, maybe for rougher weather where a stouter board makes sense.
I have a 50' plastic fantastic, which I love to bits , use lots, and spoil rotten.......but I keep looking at these "£$% boats....there is something about the simplicity and that 'comfy loungy warm' Dutch interior that scream live-aboard, and sails with robust simplicity , elegance and safety, anywhere....I need therapy, I feel like I'm contemplating an affair!
This surly is the perfect robust long lasting super personal world explorer delivering more a cruising than exploring feel... Only issue: the circumference of our planet or the water coveredge is not big enough for that boat. Why hiding: I'm a total lover of all KM built qualities great product ethics at the highest possible standards.
she has the potential of becoming an amazing boat with just a little effort i.e. tasteful interior decoration. needless to say that terrible music of the video does not help at all.
99% perfect boat.As an absolute amateur ,is it normal to have all those square dangerous square edges in the cockpit and salon.I see allso that gimballed stoves have a bar to hold or tie yourself off.Seems strange a boat designed for extremes sailing missing basic safety features.I know it's the customers design but maybe sometimes the customer isn't always right and needs telling.Stunning boat and build
Completely agree with you, they do everything at a right angle .. it is less expensive, and in the end it is more cehr for the customer ... !!the kitchen is a record ... !! everything is square, and even the gas cooker provided on a gimbal is not mounted on one side and therefore the cottage is useless ... !!
@@VAdu56 Until that same customer try it out in the blue sometimes(which I doubt he ever will)but alas, one squall is enough to start cursing it and put it up for sale.
Hi, no this yacht does not have a bimini. If they have a bimini it is usually not fixed but removable. An arch does not fit this design. Davits are removable. Please note these are custom yachts and built to requirement of their owners. We can built it however you wish to have it.
The majority of craft have a rich wood fitted interior, this is super modern in it's cleanliness and simplicity. While I do like it, this represents a very long departure from the norm. Is the entire interior aluminium?
The hull, deck and pilot house are from aluminium, yes. The interior is wood. The styling is a nice example of custom boat building. Exactly what an owner wants and likes.
These boats sacrifice a lot of interior space for large lazarettes. Also, not a fan of stove fuel tanks stored in an open lazarette area instead of a dedicated, vented, fuel tank storage locker.
Hello Rip, We don't see it as a sacrifice but as a very practical space to store sails, fenders, bikes, tools, provisions, etc. These yachts are usually used by a couple who want to make long voyages, so they also need storage space for that purpose. The tank you see is the day tank. Main fuel tanks are underneath the floor boards.
@@KMYachtbuilders I believe Rip refers to the propane bottles. I noticed this, too. That locker appears to be non-vented out the bottom... since propane sinks to the bilge, could this be an issue?
I don't get this boat, besides the colors it seems a very unfortunate layout 49 feel one wet head? the aft cabin seems a aft thought, no this boat kinda puts me off
We actually have several 49s with this lay out, even Gerard Dykstra's own Bestevaer has this lay out. Why have two heads if you sail a lot with only your partner or sail single handed a lot? These yachts are custom built to the wishes of the owner, and they are usually not looking for 4 cabins and 2 wet cells. They opt for more storage space in the aft and bow area instead of pushing the cabins all the way aft or front. The aft cabin is perfect for taking quick naps while sailing long passages.
@@KMYachtbuilders I cannot stand charter layouts for liveaboards. Would rather have room for a pair of bikes, accessible spare parts, provisions and a large manual bilge pump. Don't need seven places to lounge, just a couple good ones. Does the oven/stove gimble port and starboard? Would seem to limit utility if only swings fore/aft.
I woud encorage more peopple like koekoek575. Listen to him!!! So, there is one more chance that I could eventually end up with this beauty.... I loved the boat. I wish I had money enought. : (
The stove is gimbaling of course. And thanks to the centre position, there is less risk of getting hot soup or other hot food spilled on you in a chop. The U shaped galley is small which ensures you can brace yourself.
To my tastes, the interior is just ugly as hell! My eyes are bleeding! I'm not a fan of those so called ''modern design'' where everythiing is in white! Otherwise, looks like a an awsome boat.
That's the nice thing about custom yachts, each owner builds the yacht to his/her wishes and not to a 'general' taste. But we've built more traditionals interiors as well of course.
@@KMYachtbuilders I'll be honest with you: to me aluminum sailboat mean ''french boat''! I'm surprise to learn that Netherland has developed this market too.
@@Brazpastrop Oh yes, there are quiet a lot of alu builders in NL, especially for the superyachts (Royal Huisman, Feadship, Oceanco) but also many 'smaller' yards such as ourself.
