Still have my 2014 Volt. It says everything that in 2024, the Volt, despite being discontinued, remains very much alive in so many ways. Thanks for highlighting it. Maybe GM will resurrect it as they pivot back to PHEVs.

I had a Volt back in 2012 - It was written off in an accident in 2017, but it was a great car. I could get 80km (49 miles) on one charge, though i noticed this reduced when i got new tyres for it. It was solely electric until the battery went flat, then the generator kicked in (hybrid mode). If the battery was flat, the generator could also help power the wheels through the planetary gear box. Other than this, i never noticed the generator assist the electric motor at all over my 5 years of ownership. I totally agree, the Volt was a great car. It was so good, I tried to get another one after the accident, but there wasn't one on the market so i got a BMW i3 to replace it. Now days I drive a GV60 which as expected is much better. Electric cars have come a long way since 2012.

They are a New Jersey version of you and Kathy, lol. The technology in that Volt seems very similar to my 2023 Outlander but mine has 40 to 45 Mi of pure EV range. I am able to drive about 90% pure EV and only use gas when going to Disney in hybrid mode.

Hi Dave, you mentioned that GM killed the Volt technology too earlier. I agree with you. Nowadays GM has the Malibu Hybrid, but this is not Plug-in. Did you ever test it? It would be interesting to have your thoughts about the reasons why GM replaced the Volt with Hybrid cars like the Malibu.

@@DouglasMcLaughlin-kq7hk I think it was just a generic wave but to someone in another Volt. My Gen 2 didn’t have the neat little pedestrian horn OR the lower glass window that helps rear visibility. What it did have was a mostly useless 5th seat in the center :)

The Voltec is solid first PHEV by GM. I have a 2018 CT6 2.0E plug-in with Voltec batteries but 2.0T and rear wheel drive. It still see 38-39 miles(52-55 miles a few times) electric only on a 32 mile range with 66k miles. It charges overnight on 120v outlet found just about anywhere which fits 90% of my travels.

Great purchase by Robert! You, Kyle and Robert should read the book Car Guys vs Bean Counters by Bob Lutz (former Vice Chairman of GM). It has the full story of how he brought the Volt to fruition. (Also, I have the same NJ charging discount that Robert mentioned. Clever planning by my utility company, that works for both parties.)

A Myers Motors NMG, Leaf, Leaf, CRZ, Volt, Bolt EV, Bolt EUV, and now a brand new Polestar 2 Plus, AWD, Dual Motor. I have lots of EV/plug-in history, of the past lot the Volt & Bolt EUV were standouts. The one-seat NMG EV was fun and way ahead of its time. The Leafs were the only production EVs that were available at the time. The Honda CR/Z, a good-looking 2-seater, was even a terrible hybrid. Obviously, the new Polestar has raised the bar. I Love this car! While I can't precisely recall the last time I purchased a gallon of gasoline, it was probably for the Volt. Note that I've never owned a Tesla. At first, it was because they were out of my price range. Now, like millions, I refuse to support them because of their extremely toxic leader.

Congrats on selling the Volt. There are very few use cases for plug in hybrids now. After driving EVs for over 6 years, don’t think I could ever go back to any vehicle with an engine requiring maintenance and trips to a gas station. Spoiled with home charging.

Honduh and Toyoduh drivers operate differently from normal people. They think they own the road and the roads are theirs so I'm not surprised a Honduh maxivan driver would take a golf cart charging spot. That is who they are - rude and entitled. Even worse than golf cart drivers.

11:35 You are being a bit Pollyannaish, assuming ICEholes don't know what they are doing. People who block EV charging stations know *exactly* what they are doing.
