SOLD My Best Cow to Newbies & Taught Them How to Get Started

Phyllis - our family milk cow - is getting older and only has two functioning teats. We're replacing her with a younger cow who can produce more milk but Phyllis isn't ready for retirement. She would be a great milk cow for a small family who is looking for their first cow.

I shed some tears seeing Phyllis leaving the farm. Such a gentle soul. Though I am very happy that she has gone to a farm and family who will appreciate her. Thank you for showing the clip that Phyllis has settled down., she looks happy, though I wonder if she wont feel lonely.

With your new moat you'll need to change the name of the place from Holler House to Castle de Rhodes. I don't claim to be an arborist, but when I transplant a growing tree I always chop off at least half of the leaves so the roots won't have so much to try and feed.

Just an FYI... I had friends in middle school, that were boys, that used to love to dig tunnels in the dirt and one day it caved in on them and three died. Two dug themselves out but by the time they did that and went to get help, the other three were gone. It wasn't much of a top load, but the dirt was wet and took their oxygen. Just thought I'd mention that. My boys did the same but after losing friends I never let them use dirt as a roof. They had to come up with something else. Sorry if I'm out of line.

@nagasvoice8895
@nagasvoice8895 Год назад
Agreed - the top needs to be cut back to about same size as the root mass that survived to go in the ground. Also, moving during hot summer weather is hard. To help it, you could spritz the top with water 2- 3 times a day, and tent or stake up some partial-shade cloth to break direct sun at midday/afternoon for at least a month.

Rebekah... I heard you say raspberries... I have mine next to the house and it's wonderful to be able to go out in the morning and pick fresh berries for breakfast. But I warn you... They are invasive... Learn to prune and control them early for at least two reasons... First, if they grow too thick you can't reach all the berries... Second, your harvest will improve if you control the airflow between vines. Remember plants have two jobs... First to grow and survive, second to reproduce for the future. Oh... And they need daily water during berry producing time... The rest of the time just regular watering. Good luck... I'm moving mine a little farther away from the house so I can increase my growing area... I live fresh berries but I also love to put them up in the freezer for smoothies and such. Good luck!

Your kiddos on the dirt heaps-such beautiful memories made. Yeppers dirt will be brought in tho it can’t go with you in the end and the kiddos will. Such a healthy child hood. Thank you for a heart filling share. And Henry kicking off his boots and running/so stinkin hilarious The boys digging their “shelter”, brings back memories of my boys doing that back in the day and now showing their kiddos how much fun shovels and creativity can be-again thank you

My kids started milking when they were very young, about 5 for the youngest. It was beneficial in many ways. Their grip was amazing to open jars to climbing the wall in college and rock climbing. They would have races milking at times. The more foam on the top of the bucket the faster they had milked. It was great experience for them.
