This video contains about How to Make a 1/4 TS to XLR Cable, Related to your question UNBALANCED connection has a noise risk because it is susceptible to interference from electrical equipment (such as lighting, etc.) or transmitter stations. This noise occurs because the interference waves from other electrical devices penetrate our cables and are carried to our sound equipment. The risk of this interference becomes greater as the cable length increases. To overcome this, we should use a BALANCED connection. Do you have any other questions? @@sbstronic I am new to this (meaning today) as I usually just buy cables, but from what I've read so far, a cable connection run is only as balanced as it's most balanced component. Since the cable includes an unbalanced component, the entire cable run is inherently unbalanced. So, considering that I need a cable to connect a Tascam TM82 Microphone to a Tascam DP-006 four channel mixer which only has 1/4" TS mic unbalanced inputs, I'd say you That cable you made is clearly just as, if not more solid than any of the 6-10ft Monster guitar cables I've bought my son. Thanks a TON!!!! P.S. Can you provide info on where you get your supplies? What brand cable, connectors? Also, the heatshrink...is that just one of those kits that can be had at an autoparts store? Subbed!

Congratulations. You just created a short circuit that can potentially damage your equipment. The pins on an xlr connector used for balanced operation are not hot+, negative - and shield. A cable that carries a balanced signal has 2 hots ++ and one ground -. If you take a closer look at whatever diagram you used as a reference for the xlr pin configuration, you'll see that the + and - pins are not hot+ and cold-. as in electricity. They represent polarity. Electrically, what you show as + and - is really ++ and the shield/ground pin is the -. When you connected the number 2 pin that carries signal + to the ground conductor -, you've created a short circuit the second you plug it in to anything that puts put a balanced signal. If you do a little research, you'll find balanced and single ended operation are not compatible with each other just for this reason. To fix your mess, you need to separate the 2 pins and connect the ground on the unbalanced end to the ground/shield pin on the xlr. The extra signal conductor on the balanced end isn't used. That being said, doing all this is a waste of time even if you don't screw up the wiring. In order to make use of a balanced signal, the 2 components you are connecting need to be able to properly handle a balanced signal, and you need a 3 conductor cable that uses all 3 pins in the correct configuration. If any of these elements are not present, the connection automatically defaults to single ended. Simply put, all you did is make a pair of rca cables.
Why does everyone who makes these videos play horrible music in the background instead of talking us through it Couldn't make it 30 seconds through the filter sweep lol
