I am so glad that I found out about this channel. Everything is explained in the simplest way possible. It's easy to understand and the video is good quality. Thanks!

Thx fot this. I've learned soldering in school, but this way is much easier and effective.

63/37 solder is the best ratio to get. Also clean your iron on some brass sponge not damp sponge. The thermal shock damages the tip!

Fully agree get rid of the sponge. I have used stainless steel pot cleaners in a small food tin for over 50 years

@@lesb6542 someone on the internet was saying that steel is harder than copper, so it will damage the tip. What does your experience say? Should I use steel wool?

Most of my soldering thus far has been around brass fittings on old tools etc, which shall we say, requires much less finesse. I've always been happy with flux free and lead free wire, 'where flux goes solder will follow' being my friend. I think I'm going to have to buy some thinner flux lead wire.

It's worth mentioning that I had a Chinese soldering station very like yours (different service mark, same price) that worked a marvel... for six months. Then it stopped working and I had to shell out for a Hakko. All things considered, I'm not sure Chinese stations are truly an economical alternative. Great video, though.

Surprised you didn't mention the Western Union splice, which is strong but solder makes it better.

This isn't a concern for this demonstration.

I like to apply some heat shrink tubing to the jaw portions of the clips for just that reason.
