That was very interesting. I had been wondering how tedious it might be to solder filigree, but you made it look so easy. Great work! Thank you for posting😃
Just starting my filigree journey. Thank you for being generous with your information. Will you be doing any more filigree videos please? Many thanks 😊
@@FiligreeArt My daughter and I are teaching ourselves from watching many videos. I also create jewelry but have a strong desire to create Maltese Filigree !!
Can you file any silver and save dust to solder or melting down actual solder into an ingot then filing? Fine or sterling dust would be easy medium or hard? So i can file say fine silver and use filings mixed with borax and thats solder? Im stupid, sorry!!
There are recipes for different alloy solders. Easy, medium and hard are the main ones used. For filigree I use medium or hard solder. I melt into an ingot and file, collect the filings mix borax with the solder and ready to use!
Thank you so much for sharing. What kind of borax powder are you mixing with the medium solder filings please? What ratio of borax powder to solder do you use please?
After you’ve soldered the filigree wires with the powdered solder how do you clean up the piece please? How do you remove any excess solder? Or should all the solder be absorbed into the twists of the filigree wire and not clump anywhere? If you do clean is it with little bristle wheels? I’d really appreciate your help as I have no idea how to clean the filigree piece after soldering this way. Many thanks in advance
