Thanks Ed for the video. Solderless wiring is new to me so I'm trying to take it all in. I'm a hobbyist builder and would like to include this in my next build. I have a couple of questions that concern me when it comes to fitment of these solderless components. Are these components { lets use volume and tone pots } comparable in size as conventional potentiometers ? Or the toggle and blade switches are they of similar depth and overall size ? I ask because I need to know when routing out pickup pockets and cavities for controls. The idea of "going wireless" excites me and I hope to be able to go this route but worry if these components would fit my traditional cut cavities in the body. Thanks for any explanation and or help you can give me on this part of the subject of solderless wiring.
Hi Scott, 1 critique! Love the demo but had to slow you down to see actual removal of old harness and installation of new. You went to fast and I really wanted to see how you did it. I am in the middle of using one of these solderless systems and regret is setting in. How do you get the super thin wires from the humbuckers to stay in the slots. I am tightening them as much as I can and they just slip right out. Thicker wire will stay but the thin wire won't. Any advice?
Did you figure this out? I saw in one of the tutorials they suggest crossing the wires (thick and thin) so that the short wire is trapped by the bigger wire. That will help both stay in.
@@theforgedone I never could figure out how to get them to stay. I ended up taking mine to a local guitar tech and they fixed it for me. Maybe what you are suggesting would work. I just never thought solderless would be this hard to install. I have changed the electronic on a few guitars and to me this is not easier than soldering.
Sounds killer! Which DiMarzio pickups did you use with this orange guitar in the video? I have a PRS in which I'm thinking about upgrading the pickups.
Did you do it all first try? Because I spent a whole fucking week trying to connect the wires without them slipping out the connectors, promptly failing all the times and ending up giving everything to a tech.
Dude, THIS is the video I've been searching for. Single volume, single tone is what my guitar has and I wasn't sure how to go about installing the mad hatter system in that particular configuration.
