Thanks for doing this. The friendliness towards a 6' x 4' table is an immediate draw. Also, As per my comments on Ralph's video, it is good to see that the 'card driven' element does not prevent solo play.

There are so many little things that made this stand out as the kind of rules that may suit me, table size is a huge one, as is agnostic system figure scale/basing/measurement etc. I agree on the cards and solo play also, I feel it would be quite easy to come up with a system for them to be used in a semi random way with modifiers (maybe towards orders).

I’ve always at played club games on a 18’x6’ table with 4 to 6 players per side, however I don’t have that luxury now even though I had that size table in the garage but playing solo really needs a 6’x4’ table. I want to play a game and find the rule flaws in my rules. Moving both sides tikes more time I’d like to find how things work before I buy . I good video but I would like to see a battle on video before I buy

The author has set up his own channel under the same name as the game, he may well do some examples of play.

Thanks for this. I was looking forward to this video. It didn't disappoint. I don't think this game will replace my love for Black Powder, but you've sold it to me. Ordered a copy today. I'm looking forward to reading the rules and having a few games. I was sold at the narrative for different sections of battle. I'm building and painting my Epics around d'Erlon's attack and Picton's (god rest his brave soul) counterattack. If this ruleset is going to bring life to that moment, I'd be a fool to miss out. Thanks again!

Thank you Kelvin. You’re doing a very similar project to me, and I felt exactly the same way about the way these rules may bring it to life.

Thanks for posting the review. I am looking forward to playing with the rules (and cards). It is unfortunate that they used an army building example from the 4th coalition, which is not covered in the book (see page 53).
@MiniatureRealms
@MiniatureRealms Год назад
Yeah that is a bit odd, and it’s only War of the 3rd coalition in the first supplement. They’re working on a Peninsula book as well, so I’m guessing they’re going to keep adding more.

Excellent review and you’ve highlighted all the key reasons why I purchased them. On Warwick’s blog he’s just done a battle report on the early attack on Hougemont which is excellent. I think the rules re skirmishers are excellent and you can see how early armies with a lack of light troops can suffer attrition from say the French armies of the first coalition.

Thank you Graham, I rambled on so much longer than I thought I would, I had to cut it down from around and hour as it was 😂. I’ve read the recent battle report, I agree it’s excellent, made me realise further how good this set of rules can be, and settled a minor concern I had about recreating historical scenarios.

I love a good rule book so I’ll be picking this up at the next show I go to. Separately; congratulations on breaking through the 3k subscriber barrier. I think I came on board around 300 just as Epic ACW was shipping and now have a completed Union force (we don’t mention the partially painted cavalry regiment and dismounts that will need to be done for Septembers game). My Waterloo British has stalled behind some other projects but I do need to get beyond the three infantry and 2 cavalry battalions so far completed and get to a place where I can receive D’Erlon this autumn.

I hope you like the rules, I think they’re great, and a very good fit to use with the Epic range. And thank you, it trickled up over the 3k without me even noticing. Far more than I expected for what’s about 15 months, but enjoying every bit of it. You’ve don’t well with your projects, I’m still chipping away slowly, adding more projects doesn’t help, but somehow I’ve worked on them all apart from WoTRs in the last month - I’ll get there eventually. The only deadlines I have are related to having enough for battle reports for the channel.

Are you going to play a scenario to show how these rules actually work ie. a Division attack to see if we are playing a wargame or a lottery. I’ve played age of eagles, brigades are the movement units.
@MiniatureRealms

I’d like to, but don’t have any plans to in the short term. Ralph Astley did one his channel, there’s a link to his review in the video description, and I know he did a second follow up video with a battle report.

Can’t go wrong with a rule book by Warrick I’m waiting on my copy after seeing Ralph’s video . I have been playing Battle Group since the beginning and is my favourite ruleset

I’ve got my eye on Battlegroup, I’ve been thinking of 10-15mm WW2 game for a while, Flames of War just doesn’t appeal for some reason. Need to do lots of research though, and find a range of minis to base it around.

I’ve been looking at their 15mm ranges, can’t stand their website, can never find what I want 😂 I’ve painted quite a bit of FOW for my work, I find some of it very nice, some of the older bits are terrible. I was hoping to go all plastic, but I’m not sure BF and Plastic Soldier Company have enough of what I want. I quite like the new Victrix 12mm, but there’s obviously a very limited range right now.

Hey, Steward (I hope it is spelled correctly, I know I am late to the party to comment this video. Anyway, firstly I want to thank you for all your Black Powder Epic Waterloo related videos. I found your channel after ordering the British Starter Set and being unsure how to paint all those miniatures in a at leas somehow timely manner. Your videos gave me somehow the confidence to start painting my British Soldiers and keep it rolling. I bought the Soldiers of Napoleon rules after that video and I am quite happy with them. I haven't played a game with these or with the Black Powder rules, yet, but I think SoN is really closer to what I am looking for as a ruleset. However, what miniatures are you going to use for your Light Infantry Battalions? With the Warlord miniatures I have the problem that for my taste, there are not enough miniatures having the typical shoulder pads and I have no clue how to build a command stand. Do you have any plans or *easy* suggestions? Best Alexander
@MiniatureRealms
@MiniatureRealms 2 года назад
Thank you Alexander, I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the videos and found them useful. I’m probably going to be relying on some 3d sculpts I’ve found for for light troops, and some of my future planned Peninsular war project. I’ve talked about some of them in some of my later project vlog videos, and since then They’ve released British with Stovepipe shakos. I’ve not printed any of these newer ones yet, but hope to in the next couple of weeks and talking about them in my next Vlog. Other than that it’s only the existing plastics really for me.

Are they for a 6ft. X 4ft. or 8ft. X 4ft. I can manage a 6’ x 4’ in a spare room my garage is 19’ x 19’. I have had a 6’ x 16’ table but I’m feeling the cold too much to use the garage although it is double brick I really need a wooden floor an a chair as I can’t stand for long periods. However 4ft width is cramped by most modern rules so a 5ft table width is more desirable, but not possible 🙁
@MiniatureRealms
@MiniatureRealms 2 года назад
They’re designed for 6x4 to 7x5. Will definitely work on a 6x4, getting Napoleonics to work on a common sized home gaming table was very much the idea it seems.
@leonleese4919
@leonleese4919 2 года назад
That’s a relief mot new rules rules that are promising corps size battles give to play with a corps commander and division commanders but no brigade command level. The premise being that that divisions moved as a unit and the brigades didn’t need to be given orders. But the first example of play has a division commander and all the brigade commanders. No thought at all being given to chain of command. So in effect they play no differently than rules used in the early 1970’s

@@leonleese4919 Get some rubber floor mats to solve the garage standing problem ?
@MiniatureRealms
@MiniatureRealms 2 года назад
Yeah I really like how the resource management from the cards and order mechanic simulate that link between Divisional and Brigade commanders, giving you choices at both command levels. Then the chance of a Corps or Army commander showing up and effecting the game in some way not only expands the idea of chain of command, but also gives that feeling of size to the battle, even though you may only be playing a small part of it.

@@Rusty_Gold85 I owned a spar convenience store it involved long periods of standing behind the counter. This caused disc problems in the lower back. Old age doesn’t help ☹️
