This scene is great.Her face when she’s watching tv and Hayes says there’s someone he wants to see in Los Angeles and she thinks he’s moved on but then the smile when she sees him and realizes it’s her he came to see.

I was gutted by the book’s ending and not because I need an HEA. But for her to push such a great love away because of the age difference, her daughter and what people might say enraged me. Why, you may ask. Because if you reversed the genders, it wouldn’t even be a book or a film. It would be an everyday occurrence so common as to be unremarkable. For centuries, men have been marrying females, in some cases, who are still children. The majority of Hollywood actors are in relationships with women young enough to be their daughters, and in a few cases their granddaughters. Twenty and thirty year age gaps and no one bats an eyelash. But when a woman dates a younger, specifically a MUCH younger man, it’s practically a scandal. She is laughed at, excoriated and insulted. And there is a sick reason: because with a large age gap, the woman will not be able to bear the man, children. And without raging fertility, what good is she? And truthfully the majority of older woman, younger man relationships DO break up for this reason. At some point, the younger man cheats on his older wife, leaving her for a girl 20 years younger whom he marries and impregnates in the blink of an eye. All of the reasons he loved his older partner fall by the wayside as he decides to jump into fatherhood with a girl whose only redeeming qualities are her fertility and lack of maturity. His ego needs the boost of a woman who looks up to him and hangs on his every word. His older partner’s sophistication, knowledge, sexual prowess and stability are suddenly anathema. He wants a young, fertile, malleable and easily impressed girl so he can feel strong, dominant and in control. But I wanted these two characters to buck the odds and the patriarchy and not fall prey to society’s expectations of the role of older women.

If one is ever lucky enough to find love, then they should embrace it. Take that chance and be happy for yourself regardless of what people think. That’s what life is all about. That is what I like about this movie. It just speaks true to real life. I like movies like that.

In this respect, the movie has a better ending then the book!

I think the ending of the book is more realistic but the movie had to end the way it did because their chemistry was just too insane.

I want a sequel for this movie I know there no book 2. But this movie been doing well so I’ve heard. They can take the story in London explore Hayes family life. Hayes and solene getting married or solene being pregnant. Them exploring Hayes solo career and them fighting for their relationship this time. Also here an idea of a sequel scene Hayes mother meet solene I would like to see how that interaction will go seeing your son date an older woman. More interaction between Hayes and Daniel.

I love this open ending that was hopeful. She clearly didn't expect him to come back for her even after watching the interview, yet there he was. I hope it might lead to a second film, either Solene and Hayes getting married and looking into Hayes background we didn't really learn enough about him in the movie. Or Solene's daughter having a child/ introducing a partner and that family dynamic this movie gives Carol meets Notting Hill vibes

I watched the movie, and then I read the novel, and I like the movie -- especially its ending -- a lot better, though I still have quibbles. In the book, Hayes is 21 and Solene's daughter is 12, which I thought was a better dynamic than aging them up for the movie.
