Wow! All pinball art is cool in it's own way. That's why we're here. But...*this machine is crazy cool. They've really gotten a lot out of the stenciled paint over splattered technique. I'm diggin' the whole dang machine. Right up my street. Man it's good to see these machines come back online, great stuff Ron.

@@LyonsArcade Very curious how the flippers play. They remind me of Jai alai baskets and I'm thinking you might get some nice velocity off the curves. (Jai alai is that ball game where the players have those big curved scoops)

Omg time warp.🥰 I love that machine. I used to go to the skateland and they had one . I played it until I was broke every time. Such a great game and one of my grail games to hopefully buy some day. I have to be honest I think the banana flippers are groovy but they do add a additional challenge to the game. I love the artwork. There is something special with the art on the machines of that era that really appeal to me. Thanks for another great video and have a wonderful day 😸

Yeah, Time Warp is a true classic; one of 2 William's pinball machines having Banana Flippers - the other being Disco Fever. Not all of either of those machines had banana flippers, so what you're working on is seemingly rare. Back in the day then, I saw and played Time Warp in 3 different places between 1980 - 82, and every time, banana flippers were blue. I highly recommend installing a separate battery pack completely away from all of the boards; try convincing the customer regarding batteries within an old pinball machine.

I like those lamp resistors. When the MPU crashes, those overheat and unsolder themselves, protecting the transistors and light bulbs.

The gag never gets old.. It's broke. I've never seen this game either. I love that it has the tension drone. i also like that the underside of the playfields are painted a light bright color. The engineers knew you would be working on this thing in a dark arcade, bar, bowling alley... etc.. They really missed the boat on the back up battery.. OMG... every brand did a horrible job on that one. They knew this was an issue but kept doing it until the last generation of machines. Waving thine hand over the magic paper, simiar to a Rusty Wallace shift. I would say the castle might be Camelot, but what do I know? Can't wait to see the banana action!

I remove the NiCad battery from the board immediately when I get a game to prevent or slow the damage from when it leaks. When I repair the boards, I use a 4700uF 35V capacitor for memory. You could buy a newer 5101 chip with the battery backup internal to the chip, or you could mount your batteries remotely. That battery from the factory was planned obsolescence on the part of the pinball companies.

Time Warp, Right on! Man I am happy to see you work on one these. I picked up my Time Warp about 2 years ago in barn find. She's had a tough time but I've got her back to playing again. Sadly my cabinet does not look near as good as the one you have in your shop but it's just the character for my machine and story. cheers brother! Have wonderful Christmas.

I like the "It's Broke" joke. If I had a dime for every piece of theatrical lighting gear that came into our shop that just had a label on it saying "bad" or "NFG" I'd have a shitload of dimes.

You might want to try removing the short in the display. Tapping it must right could make whatever it is move and fall away. Or putting a charged capacitor between the offending electrodes could blast the problem away. It's already broke.

Dude!!! Can I come work with you for a month just to see the variety of machines you work on? I’d love to have my own repair shop here as I’m sure no one does it (Interior of BC Canada). I work on vintage radios and jukeboxes and anything I can find. But man!! you guys on the east coast see a 😢ton of gear. I love the stuff you work on. I love the gag too!!! “IT’S BROKE!!!” 😂🤣😂

You would love it down here. Just don't come in July or August, as a Canadian you might die of heat exhaustion, but these guys have an awesome shop in a great part of the country. I grew up in California and went to college in Seattle so I've spent some time in BC but I live out here now and absolutely love it. Definitely take a trip out here sometime and explore South Carolina a little bit. It's one of a kind, kind of like this game!

@@_JellyDonut_ I have friend who goes to Myrtle Beach quite often and he’s says it’s wonderful!! I may have to join him on a trip sometime. Where I live it can get to 40°C (104°F) in the summer on a regular basis so the heat may not be an issue… maybe the humidity though lol 😂.

@@SHarris64 Myrtle Beach (aka the Redneck Riviera) is fun for vacation but has a very different vibe than upstate SC, which is where Joe's is located. Rock Hill, SC is right by Charlotte, NC. You could easily visit both in the same trip though. If you did that it would be the travel equivalent of a mullet, business up top and party in the back! 😂

From dinosaurs to space travel. …. now that’s a time warp. The pop bumpers really rock. Looks like it’s gonna be lots of fun. The flippers are interesting in that it looks like there’s no rubber. The flipper is it’s own rubber?? It seems that the shape of these flippers don’t lend themselves to a normal rubber, so is the whole flipper rubber?

I love it when you find all the original documents in there, ya have to remember this was a lot of money to somebody and they get all the info they could need, nowadays not so much which is a bit of a shame as paper manuals for kit even smell nice, even nicer when you have just spent shed loads !...cheers.

Steve Lav is a little further north from New York, he's up in my neck of the woods, about 40 miles due south of Boston in Dartmouth MA (kind of due east of Providence RI) . He's got a very strong accent. Funny that you know of him. I don't like it when he yells at old ladies tho, even if they deserve it

Another RU-vid electronics guru would illustrate what he was talking about on a mini whiteboard. Someone complained that he taps the whiteboard too much. Well, the next video contained extra time in front of the whiteboard and more taps, just the way that the person mentioned it.

I have this exact machine and for some reason it won't boot up when turned on. The lights work but no response when you hit the credit button. I checked all the connections and made sure they were properly attached. Is there a reset that must be done, or what do you suggest? Thanks!

Does anyone know because I thought all pinball games monitored ALL the trough switches. I'm confused why this pinball game Time Wrap has additional trough switches or the CPU is checking that ALL the trough switches are open or close or it will end the game. I'm guessing the ROM games chip coding was different for the trough switches for this Time Wrap games compared to other pinball games?

@ 46:20 For the love of God (edited), get those Duraleak batteries out of there ASAP!! I'd consider Energizer Lithium AA's for replacements, as almost every brand Alkaline battery I have used in the past 10 years has proven to not be able to not leak, especially when they are close to being discharged, or have sat out in a device on cold weather.
