I did a solid axle swap 20 yrs ago, that was sweet ride. 93 sr5, unfortunately it rolled over, bad driver lol. Trail gear lives!

@@66Duffman I’m going a little different route I have a open 4:88 diff , a hanger that puts the axles a little futher out so I have to relocate the ps has to move about 3” forward, going rears up front an 63” in the back I’m so excited you have no idea! Can’t wait to see more on your build

You are correct…since they springs have settled the shackle angle has gotten more straight angling slightly back

I’ve seen other DIY kits do that….honestly seems stronger the way Trail gear set it up…worth the extra work

@@66Duffman Awesome! I was looking at about the same cost in parts. My budget will be about $2500 and $3100 being at max. I weld, so fabricating my own stuff and going to steel salvage yard would save me a lot. I'm going with leaf spring suspension, with the Toyota steering box/leaf hanger perch/dana 30 or 44 axle with truss/chromoly axle shafts/reinforced inner C's/ chromoly tie rod, panhard bar heim joints/ lunch box lockers/ 4.56 gears/ 33x12.50r15 interco thornbirds with custom tread cutouts, 6" lift/front/rear bumper winch and Overall, I have most of this stuff in the making. its gonna be sick ass build!! (I GOT PICTURES)💪🏻🤙🏻

Yep bolted right up…I cut the dust cover fir the brakes on top and bottom to create a little more clearance too 🤘🏻

It’s been a while so I don’t remember exactly…somewhere between 2-2 1/2 inches I believe

I believe this same kit will work just make sure because there’s a few different options from Trail Gear

IFS brakes are an equal upgrade…bigger calipers and rotors

It’s a daunting task for sure especially if it’s your first time or you lack fabrication skills like I do…glad I finally did mine tho 😂 If I did a second one it’ll be much smoother

Yes I believe this specific kit is made for 86-95 pickup and 4runner but even then they sell different ones

Thanks! So the axle I’m using is an 85 4runner axle…my understanding is this SAS kit will work for any 4x4 front axle 81-85 hilux/4runner 🙌🏻

Front springs are the trail gear 3 inch lift heavy duty…and I’m currently running 40s on the truck

No you can use the stock transfer case…although I recommend a manual transmission swap so you can use the 4 cylinder gear driven Tcase

@@66Duffman my 1990 pickup is already a manual which is a huge plus. The only other thing I'm kind of hesitant about is where to position the upper shock hoop on the frame

Sure thing i thing it’s 1/4 the outside…we just made sure the leafs were lined up straight with everything bolted together…tacked it then checked before permanently welding it

thanks for there reply! I spent the afternoon getting things lined up. I'm within a 32nd LOL! I did have to move the tube out slightly from the 1/4" recommendation. Front hanger finish weld tomorrow., thanks again!
