Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 can easily be emulated through MSX emulators (or NES if you want to play the inferior version of MG1). MGS1 as well can be emulated, or you can play the official Windows port, Integral (which I recommend finding oxide-NL's modernized port for, since the original barely runs on modern systems). MGS2 has a PC port as well, but it's... Bad. Very bad. And the issue with emulating it is that both it and MGS3 require context-sensitive buttons for certain mechanics (such as lowering your gun instead of firing it), and on PC... You can't do that. Every button press is digital, on and off, rather than analog/gradual. There are ways around this, such as swapping weapons instead of releasing the button since you can't lower the gun, but I don't think it's really worth the effort. I'd say it's easier to get a used PS2 and used copies of MGS2: Substance and MGS3: Subsistence. MGS4 isn't an option, since it's PS3 only and can't run on the only PS3 emulator available. Metal Gear Rising and MGSV are on PC and have pretty good ports, so that's definitely an option. As for all the spin-offs, they're very easy to emulate. Four are on PSP, so you can use PPSSPP, one is on NES along with MG1 so you can use NEStopia or any other NES emulator, one is on Game Boy Color so you can use VisualBoyAdvance or any other GB/GBC/GBA emulator, VR Missions is on PS1 so you can use a PS1 emulator, and Twin Snakes is on GameCube so you can use Dolphin.
