Would this scenario work to simulate a heat-sink for an LED like the Cree XLamp CXB3070 for example? Or would you get a better result if you modelled the LED COB and its mount and the interface between with the thermal pad etc rather than just having a defined heat source on the surface of the sink?
allanpennington You can draw volume and use volume heat source instead of surface heat source. In CAE analyses we generally simplify the problem to save time, but at a cost of accuracy. The problem with flow simulatime compared with solid heat transfer simulation is the time required for calculation. Solidworks flow simulation tutorial has a problem for personal computer simulation.
