Hi man, I love your content, I always learn neat new stuff that my prof doesn't teach me. One thing I think you could learn from him tho is to use the unfold/fold command around 15:00, I'm sure it'd have made life simpler and a more reliable model. Much luv bro

Nice - great suggestion! I actually do have a video on fold / unfold - here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zJIXo-uFBe0.html

9:10 and 1027.4 g in Alibre Sheet Metal. There is quite a difference in how you got the 112.52 in SW. I think it's because SW has a couple more options for flange alignment and length than Alibre has. For the slot, when I went through SolidWorks training making use of the Unfold/Fold features for slots and cutouts that traversed around/through bends was emphasized. If your interested in how I created it I have a video on my channel.

Great as usual @TooTallToby You can also create 1st slot like you did and never mind to be normal to that surface , and the 2nd slot will start from the bottom of the lower flange going Through all both. Or, create a single slot using unfold and the length will need some calculations then fold

Yep, def learned something. Was exactly trying to find the solution on how to flare a 90° edge to angled one. Thanks so much.

Yeah, i created that cut extrude kinda like the way you did, exept after making that sketch i mad a new sketch on the right plane and converted entities to make sure i didn't get the weird edges/cut corners
@TooTallToby
@TooTallToby Год назад
Ohhh - that's a good idea to keep those corners clean!
@airwick5083
@airwick5083 Год назад
Nice! This one definitely had some "weirdness" built into it! I did the slot in the flat pattern but you could also do it from a side view and round the corners after (I should try it to see what that looks like) A lofted cut should also work and would be a clean way of doing it. I did post a recording on my channel of how I did it in Onshape. On the side flange why not just make it longer and go back and trim it so that's it's "parametric" i.e. remains at 15 long even if the angle is changed. I used a move face "up to with offset" to get that.

When you create the flange on top with the 10 dia. thru hole. You can add the hole when you "edit flange profile". I created my model way different than this. Didn't get the correct answer, but I am close.
@TooTallToby

Nice- yeah good point you can often include cuts and whatnot in the original sketches - save some time and features

Hi Toby! Thanks for the video so much..! I was wondering how do you do extrude without clicking the top menu? Is it some kind of short cut? If you have time, please let me know!

Hi Tobby, when I open a new part to start modeling, the drafting standard shows ANSI by default. But when I start using smart dimensioning, the dimensions are not in ANSI format. how can I fix this? Thanks
@TooTallToby
@TooTallToby 11 месяцев назад
Each of the sub-categories in DOCUMENT PROPERTIES can be set to different settings. Maybe try switching from ANSI to ISO, then close the options box, then switch back from ISO to ANSI. That might resolve it.
@steve5nash
@steve5nash 11 месяцев назад
@@TooTallToby That did fix it temporary, but once I open a new blank file, the glitch reappears. Thanks anyway.
@TooTallToby
@TooTallToby 11 месяцев назад
Anything you change in the DOCUMENT PROPERTIES tab needs to be saved as part of the template. So after you get it working, do a FILE>SAVE AS>TEMPLATE and update the current template. That should fix it for all new documents @@steve5nash
