I am running SolidWorks in a laptop with only weak integrated graphics. The one setting that makes a HUGE difference for me is Options, Feature Manager, UNCHECK Dynamic highlight. That makes it dramatically faster to be able to click on parts to do things with them. With that box checked (default setting), I have to wait for minutes after clicking a part for it to draw orange highlights lines on each edge of the part. Now it skips that and it’s almost instant from selecting a part to being able to do the next step.
Hello there, i have solidworks files ( sldpart, sldasm) which are from solidworks 2020. If i am opening them from my version 2018, it shows version error, can you please format fiiles accordingly so that they can run in my version. Please share ur mail ID
Hello , I have a Razer blade 15 2019 with a rtx 2070 gpu. Ok thinking about getting SolidWorks and I am unsure how well it will run on my laptop. Do you think it will be usable?
I think you overestimate Solidworks' requirements. With an rtx 2070 (assuming its paired with a reasonable CPU like an i7 9750H and plenty of Ram) you will have excellent performance. Avoid installing new versions that include no service packs (Ie. If you can choose between SW 2018 SP3 or 2019 SP0, choose the former). Also, Solidworks performance varies a lot. If you are working with very large assemblies (especially with parts that have lots of details), real-view graphics, and like to render 8640p resolution images, then yeah, your laptop is gonna suffer. Make sure you buy a base cooler - performance is an issue if your CPU is thermal throttling.
I dont think Razer blade 15 2019 is a good choice because of its graphic card GTX 1660 I recommend the quadro P series and check if its certified in solidworks official wesite
I can run a 300 component assembly on a 6 year old laptop with only integrated graphics and a 4th gen i7. Solidoworks only values single core performance and will run on a potato.
