deavonw, man I agree with you 100%!!! It seems like the only quality plastic Hasbro uses, is on the Marvel Legends. I remember a time when Transformers and Star Wars toys were made with quality plastic.
King A.P.E. Agreed. One has to wonder if the license is the problem. Disney may want a mint for the SW label so Hasbro has to do other things to cut costs. Unfortunately for them this cheap junk is clogging shelves and clearance isles.
Seriously, I'm looking at old the Kenner Millennium Falcon toys on eBay. They're going for about the same price, and a kid would probably have more fun with it. Hasbro ought to be embarrassed.
If Kenner was releasing Star Wars toys of this quality back in 1978, then would anyone still care about collecting vintage Star Wars toys today? My guess is no.
Once they realize their new movies are utter crap and that no one (even collectors) don't want anything to do with the new movies, they'll start concentrating on re-releases of the old stuff. Mark my words, companies are always slow to catch on, but at the end of the day it's about making a dollar. They'll come around, they *always* do.
I used to collect nearly every starwars toy that came out, but the new stuff is crap. I'm down to only getting black series figures and not much else. The one seat cockpit is just a joke.
Great vid as always Jay! Not impressed with the review subject though lol. I would almost say if they want to keep scaling down the vehicles then just scale down the figures too. It sucks that a ship thats supposed to be as big as this is can only fit one figure in a cockpit that holds AT LEAST 2 people. I don't know what the cutoff is to size and articulation but if they're gonna have only 5 points anyway they can make them smaller to better scale with the vehicles.
You're being WAY to kind talking about this ship. An 11 BILLION dollar company is doing everything in it's power to become a 7 billion dollar company. They should've pushed the action figures and smaller scale die cast vehicles if "price point" was such a problem. The money spent on this piece of trash could've been spent on an upgrade parts package for a legacy Falcon. I wouldn't buy this for $25 clearance price. Hell the Spider-Man Mega City play set had a $100 price tag, and it is huge compared to this thing!
Okay guys, here's what we want to do. We want to take the Falcon and make it smaller, thinner, and just as cheap as we possibly can so don't put a lot of effort into this.We just want to fire these things out on the market and make the gravy. Hell I'm gonna start by slapping a B wing cockpit on the side that only fits one figure lol. Don't worry about the fans. They'll buy anything Star Wars the bunch of knuckleheads they are. BOO !!!!!!! Junk ! The new Millennial Chicken is born. :p
Excellent Playskool Heroes Falcon. They did a good jo---waitaminute... Seriously, nice review on Jay C's part; not his fault. Extremely disappointed this is where Hasbro has landed...minus the landing gear apparently. Well, at least there's Haslab that produces beautiful vehicles for half the price of a new car.
Mattel should get the Star Wars license. Hasbro's new toys arent selling at all and Mattel is doing a fantastic job with Jurassic World which was previously owned by Hasbro.
Originaly the shuttle craft in the center didnt excist. The Falcon is a Freighter type ship, and the prongs wereent to lock onto cargo, its would look the same as the toy does, but its diffrent. or maybe the suttle craft is cargo, and youve mistaken it as a shuttle, you did call the steering councle, a "steering wheel"
Do you know how much i was looking foward to a good falcon with all the new fresh stuff on it instead we got the millennium cardinal thanx hasbro👎🏻, great review Jay!👍🏻
Great thorough, unbiased, and well articulated review! I agree on all of your points. In my opinion, a few inches wider, longer, and taller would have allowed for more figure room. They’d probably have to charge at least 30 dollars more. Expensive toys are a tough buy. I feel like if a toy is that much, then it better have some awesome stand out feature. This one is the lights, sound, and popping damage panels. Idk if thats enough for the lack of figure interaction. For 30 dollars more, with borrowed design ideas from the older falcons (figure interaction) incorporated with the new solo falcon features, it would be much more attractive as a purchase. It has a feeling of one feature was traded at the loss of another. And when the toy costs that much to begin with, that extra $30 price is kinda like in for a penny in for a pound. I think a toy company has just gotta go for it and not take away size and detail for sound, lights, and popping panels. If it was bigger, detailed just a tad more, with its current features, it’d be way cooler. Side nit pick: with the effort they put into the smart electronics, the engines should light up.😬
Thanks for this. I couldn't figure out how to make the panels fly off, because the instructions don't make it clear what the states I and II on the on off switch are for. but after watching your video I could do it. As I understand it now, I mode is sort of safety where no matter how much you hit the buttons nothing is flying off, setting II allows the 4 pieces to fly off.
$100 for the new Falcon ? Bought my TFA MF at $65 with all the good detail painted (not as good as the Legacy Vintage MF, that ones better). For a $100 toy should pickup the Black Series Vader helmet for that price
Kubaru Network The TFA Falcon originally retailed for a ridiculous $150 when it was on shelves before it was heavily discounted. I mean Hasbro really should have known that most parents don't buy their kids hundred dollar plastic toys these days.
My name is Jayson and I am 6 years, old Solo opens on my 7th birthday and I would like this ship for my birthday . I like that it is a little smaller so I can pick it and pretend its fling easier. the lights and sounds are kool.
Excellent review, thanks Jay :) I mean, it's convinced me that I don't need to stand in a store debating whether to buy a Falcon which seats one pilot and has no standing-room in the back, but that's on Hasbro 👍
One thing I don't appreciate from these products and it's the price point the fact that they scaled-down the Millennium Falcon very very dramatically even after giving us the Legacy Edition and still having it over at $100 price point is quite ridiculous and if I do get it I'll wait just like I waited for the force awakens Millennium Falcon when I got it for 30 bucks in Kmart and of course if and when I get it it will not be the Millennium Falcon it will be just a different carillion Cruiser to add to my collection of ships
Visiually it looks nice. Problem is that's about it. You would think with the most known ship they'd really do it justice and make it worth the price point
Looks to small. Should have modified original Kenner molds from the original toy line and just added to it the parts that pop off to reviel the Falcon we all know and love.
Just so every one knows. This is a TOY not a play set that we have come accustom too. It’s not the BMF or even TFA Falcon. It’s smaller so little kids can hold it easer and where the buttons for the sound effects are is clearly so that you can tap them while your holding it while your PLAYING with it. The other homies like the cockpit and little compartments are also for fun. I wish they made an adult version though....
TFA Falcon was not the best playset, but it is head and shoulders better than the Lando Falcon. Hasbro should have got rid of the awful nerf gimmick and retooled the TFA Falcon into the Lando Falcon. Make it transform from before and after. Break away blue panels, escape pod, changeable radar dish, ramp and real feet. What a wasted opportunity.
I love that Falcon. I just bought another interior for it on eBay. I’m using it to open up the playable area (engine room, engineering station, maybe a crew quarters) to almost the entire ship. I’ve got the weathering details on the bottom all finished. I hope it turns out ok
Garbage other than the amazing sounds and effects, that redeems it an iota, but I'll wait for $30 clearance for this. That's all it's worth....if they did all this to the BMF it would have been awesome and kids would have went nuts for it I'd think. $99 is atrocious for this, Hasbro Star Wars is WAY too expensive, on ALL fronts. They haven't learned from Toys R Us at all, apparently.
Yeah... but Jay.... the original Falcon was geared towards younger kids so your comment has no meaning! The fact that it’s smaller and lights up doesn’t make up for the fact that it’s just lazy toy making. This Falcon is a joke!
Thumbnail: oh this looks kinda cool Video starts: you can even take the ugly front off! Shows figure being giant and ship being small: oh.. I mean I'm sure it works out.. Shows two fucking beds: well thats... Shows a ONE SEAT COCKPIT: ok I cant even
I thought the force awakens falcon was crap and this is barely a upgrade from that. The legacy version was the best but at least all the other versions doubled as playsets.
Wow looks like a really badly designed toy, is plastic really that expensive these days that they have to make it so small? Why only one seat in the cockpit where is Chewbacca supposed to sit? Kids and collectors will be disappointed with this. The Millennium Falcon has always been an iconic ship in the Star Wars universe and has been poorly represented by Hasbro ever since 'The Force Awakens' version which was even much better than this version. I would of preferred more paint decals and a larger scale to all the flashy lights and sounds. For a hundred dollars these are probably gonna hang around until the retailers discount them.
Man Machine, LEGO, a huge user of plastic, has maintained, approximately, a $0.10 price per piece on LEGO minifig scale sets for three decades. Licensed products or sets with larger pieces sometimes cost more due to licensing fees and the amount of plastic in larger, molded pieces. What exactly is Hasbro's excuse...oh yeah, greed!
Speaking of LEGOs, I won one of these in a card game since I’m a big Star Wars fan and I must admit two thing. First off, the design isn’t that bad in-person. Also, about the size. I sometimes let my sister (who is also a fan) play with it from time to time and I brought up its size at one point. She then took some LEGO figures and put them into the ship. They were pretty much completely to scale with the ship and I found that hilarious that it took products from a different company to make it work. However I have said it time and again that this Millennium Falcon is my pride and joy that I wouldn’t trade for anything
Cool Video I picked one of these up early. I'm an adult collector and I mainly got it for the different look. Looks cool sitting next to my 1979 original. Hope you do more from this toy line. I'm interested in Han's speeder.
I just saw they have an even smaller and cheaper $30 Falcon that doesn't fit any figures whatsoever and nothing opens?? Just some lights/sounds I guess.
Unfortunately it’s only slightly better than the force awakens one which isn’t saying much it’s a shame they couldn’t reuse the vintage millennium falcon with a different radar dish
I'd take the Force awakens falcon over this one any day. At least it has an opening back compartment, big enough cockpit for 2 figures and some neat landing and flying sounds, plus the hyperdrive features is cool. That being said, the 2008 BMF Millenium Falcon is the best Falcon put there
