Great build! There is one critical change I'd recommend. Ember of Ashes > Ember of Char in nearly all cases. Char lets you spread a low amount of scorch around to multiple targets, but doesn't often build enough stacks to actually ignite. Weaker enemies die before the ignition occurs and stacks build significantly slower on high-health enemies without Ember of Ashes. Char is also redundant if you're running a weapon with incandescent, as this will spread scorch automatically. Ashes also synergizes with incandescent as you'll apply more scorch stacks on final blows. Char is also very dependent on densely packed groups of enemies that die quickly. This works well enough in easy content with lots of ads, but drops off significantly in higher difficultly content when kill speed drops or you're up against a few majors or a single boss. Ashes keeps on working in all situations as it simply makes the main solar effect, scorching, more effective without situational conditions.

Great video. I was thinking of using a kinetic handcannon like fatebringer and using cartesian to double dip on solar surge for boss dps. Since most kills I should be getting with my knives instead of the weapon.
I was playing pvp last night and the amount of hunters using solar just for the knife was insane, its really op in pvp especially if you're in a map that has lots of walls, just throw it out bounce on a wall and whack, especially with the chest exotic ophidia spathe that gives you 3 knives. I'm not going to rush though ive still got to work on my Ark to become proficient with that, then probably move on to solar. As i just picked up the excotic chest piece with pretty good rolls. Was up until 6am and mostly just sorting out my items, today im going to try finnish nightfall campaigns. Well not try will, been on nighfall for way to long, and want to move on..yes i understand not to rush just enjoy. Im also thinking because i didnt when i first got it to get the season pass, probably should of but is it worth it now, not to sure tbh
Just play whatever you find the most fun! Don't worry about leveling in any optimal ways or only chasing "God rolls". Just have fun and you'll naturally pick up a lot of the complexities the game has
@KodiakD2 thanks yeah I been enjoying it alot I loved the frist one likeing this one to and I pretty much just been doing strike and nightfall and sometime campion but having trouble with two but beside that the game really fun and I enjoying watching ur videos and other person keep up the good work
Okay question, If I'm only level 5 (just started playing again, totally lost) and I don't have those armor pieces or weapons what do I need to do to get them? Should I just play the campaign story or are there easier ways to get good loot. power level only 1628 currently
Currently the best thing is to just casually play the game(campaign, core activities like strikes and crucible), which will naturally get your light closer to max just by using the higher power loot you'll earn. Don't worry too much about getting specific gear until you're closer to 1800. Playing newer DLC campaigns (if you have them) is also a great way to level up cause you'll get periodic drops and upgrade materials as you play. Once you're near 1800, you can start completing pinnacle objectives (highlighted with yellow markers on the destination tab) to start working your way towards max power of 1810. Once your light is higher, then I'd start to focus on getter "better" loot. An easy way to do that is focusing vendor engrams(shaxx, zavala, drifter, gunsmith) which you'll earn just by casually playing their associated activity and leveling up. Once you're closer to 1800, you can also farm legendary lost sectors which change daily, and will help give you any exotic armor you're missing by armor category (head, arms, chest, legs). To unlock the legendary lost sector, you first need to clear it normally, so if you don't see one marked in your destinations tab(looks like 2 upside down U's), just google "legendary lost sector today D2" to see which is in rotation and where it is. Then just clear it normally, the flag outside the sector will appear, and you can launch the legendary lost sector then. Also, keep an eye on Neomuna. From time to time, a special Public event will launch that drops exotic armor when completed, and it prioritizes exotic armor you don't have yet. It's called "Vex Strike Force" and can randomly spawn as a public event. If you hover over a public event icon in the neomuna map, and you see that a possible reward is an exotic engram, that's the one. The only downside is that they're pretty rare, usually only a few spawn per day, but if you happen to spot one it's basically a free new exotic armor. Itll be hard but normally theres tons of people that watch out for these so youll have plenty of help. There are discord bots that notify you when one is active too in case you're interested. One final note, currently there are quests called (wishes) that are being given by Mara Sov in the helm, go complete at least 5 of these, as a optional reward is a garunteed red border weapon from the last wish raid. Completing them is basically just playing in the dreaming city, which will naturally earn you loot as well. Once you get 5 of these red border weapons and unlock the weapon pattern(either by dismantling it or extracting the pattern by inspecting the weapon), you can craft it with any desired perks in the enclave on Mars. This is a way to get apex predator, which is the legendary rocket I recommended in this video, and IMO is one of the best weapons in the entire game. I know this was A LOT, but really getting to 1800ish power is just a matter of time and RNG. Don't worry about grinding it out quickly, just have fun playing whatever you enjoy the most, equip the higher power drops you earn by doing so, and you'll be there in no time
Ouch, I had no idea the game started you that low. When I came back a year ago (after taking a 2+ year break) I’m pretty sure I was able to get gear just from doing anything that gave engrams (Crucible was fastest/easiest for me, I just ran unranked and let those engrams pile up). I also did the campaign that the game threw me into at the time (pretty sure it was Witch Queen, since I didn’t own Lightfall until just this past February). I’m a solo player with recent physical disabilities that make me slow to react sometimes, as well, I’m colorblind, so I avoid a lot of strikes/nightfalls/LFG content because I don’t want to hinder anyone. I did previously do a lot of raid content in WoW so I’m competent, I just don’t have a solid team to do anything with, so I try to do things on my own. These are things I’ve done to get my gear up after taking breaks, and I’m sure there’s better ways but maybe this will help. If you haven’t done it already, check the quest terminal in the tower for any abandoned quests - even if you didn’t manually abandon them, the game sometimes removes quests after a period of time - and you should be able to find some from previous expansions, as well as New Light if you haven’t done that already. I know I got some blue (or legendary, I forget as it’s been awhile) gear from that once turning into Shaw etc. There are also subclass quests (solar, arc, void) from Ikora that give you exotics as a reward. IIRC, they’re easy and soloable etc. Example: my hunter subclass quest for solar wants me to complete the Lost Sector Skydock IV in EDZ and loot the boss chest at the end, and I’ll get Young Ahamkara’s Spine exotic as a reward. Arc requires me to use my arc super 3 times, my arc abilities 40 times and cause arc jolt to enemies (I’m at 2/100% on that because I rarely use the arc subclass but it does go by fast, esp with the right spec) and once I’m done that, I’ll get The Sixth Coyote exotic which is really good if you want double dodge. Void gives you a Graviton Forfeit helm if you complete the Orrey Lost Sector on Nessus as a Void hunter. Keep in mind, you have to do these in the subclass that matches the quest (solar for Exalting the Flame, void for Into the Abyss and arc for Taming the Storm). If you have Lightfall and/or Witch Queen, you can do those campaigns for gear. Ebontis has YT videos (5 or 6) for the first few missions of the Lightfall campaign on legendary, showing how you can solo it as a void hunter without anything special but the weapons/Armor that you get along the way. I used that my first time through the campaign since I was just barely 1700 when I came back. I also used unranked Crucible matches to get engrams for gear/weapons, and if you do the Crucible weekly (9 matches in total, unranked) you’ll get an exotic gear piece for every 3 matches - there’s 3 steps that require 3 matches completed, you can win or lose, doesn’t matter. Takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on how they play out, and if I do that on all of my 3 toons (hunter, warlock, titan) then I’m getting 3 exotics a week for each class without having to struggle through strikes etc. I know people love the Vanguard playlist but if yer not comfortable with that (hello my fellow Guardians with anxiety) then unranked Crucible is a good way to gear up. Other vendor engrams to focus on that are quick: Banshee in the tower (gunsmith). Doing all 4 weapons bounties once a day (reset is 12p EST or 9a PST from November-March while Daylight Savings is inactive, and 1p EST or 10a PST from March-November while Daylight Savings is active) also nets you an enhancement core. Doing all 4 Banshee dailies once a day for a week works out to 28 enhancement cores for only weapons dailies, that are super quick to do. As well, you get gunsmith XP and will get engrams as a result. Gambit (Drifter) also gives easy engrams. Just realised how long this comment is - sorry OP! Hope you’re able to get caught up. The game can be incredibly confusing to come back to. I’m still trying to learn all of the new stuff and I’m sure I’m behind/missing a lot of things myself.

I’m a Destiny vet (played since D1 on the PS3) but having lost my clan and any reliable people to play with (who also don’t mind my physical disabilities making me sometimes slow to respond to things in-game) makes it difficult for me to get things done. I tend to avoid the Vanguard playlist so I don’t annoy other people, and I’m too anxious for LFG/Fireteam Finder. I solo what I can and as a result, do get burnt out at times when I’m missing content that’s behind dungeons/strikes I’ll never do. I take a break, come back, get lost in all the changes as well as my low light level and then burn out again 😂 Comments like this are useful, as well as the solo build videos you and others do, so thank you!
Besides weapons that deal AoE damage(stuff like sunshot or graviton lance can sometimes take out all 3 in one explosion if they're close enough), if you can't find it and you're on strand, if you grapple upwards right when the cage reaches the top of its climb, you'll actually live through the wipe mechanic. Then the doors just open and the encounter continues. Definitely not 100% reliable but it does help. Besides that, in general killing as many ads as possible would help clear up your radar, so when you go into the cage, you could rely on your radar to guide you
There's always one right level with you don't miss it. Always reload as you're going in. Spin after first, if you don't see the next a bar is in the way move over slightly and spin again. I just beat first boss last week for first time. I used solar warlock keinsteins gauntlets glaive and well of radiance. You can team up too! You need that rocket sidearm bro
Is this still viable even tho my stats are way lower than yours? I don’t have enough upgrade materials to get my armor over energy 7/8 so my stats are way lower than yours.
Easy swap there. Go for heal clip if you want an alternative. It just got buffed. So you get 2 stacks of cure on kill reload and nearby allies get 1, also activates the benevolence fragment every time you proc it, and I believe with seasonal buff you should always have radiant from reload kill.
Took this straight into a GM like no practice and it worked so well. There’s a lot to learn from your gameplay as well. So yea the build holds up 100%! THANKS!
So how the hell do I do this build WITHOUT using weapons you have “created”. I can’t get those weapons nor have those weapons. Sooooo. I’ve tried probably 10 solar builds and non of them from RU-vid has worked.
If I was u id use healing grenades mercy doesn’t help much if u want the same effect as a grenade will do use a rpg if it’s for ad clear use sunshot or a hand cannon with incandescent
