What roll do you have on that longshadow??

Somehow, I tried several times to break the shield but I can't even with the striking hand. Am I doing something wrong? I shot one but the other only half with striking hand.

Is there a way to know what side 2nd break will be on? I thought it went clockwise but i would get 2nd break on arc sometimes if i was on void for 1st
