I was in Venice a few years ago and, while I’m glad I went for the experience, I was not impressed. The water was dark and smelly, crowds from the cruise ships were unbearable and it’s nothing but a tourist trap. The gondola was tacky tacky tacky!!! My favorite city was Florence. I’d love to spend a few weeks there! Don’t be anxious, Sophie! It’s your experience. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Unless you happen to meet your future spouse, you’ll probably never see those random strangers again 😆

Sophie, I am 66 years old next week and I STILL haven't got the confidence to go certain place's on my own😢. But last year I was out shopping and I DID go and have a coffee, soooo proud of myself .🎉😂😂❤

Hi Sophie. I always get scared to do stuff, but once I get started I am always OK. It's the build up to it and over thinking it in your head. Once I get over that then it's always OK.

Solo dates with myself are often the best. I used to be nervous about going into restaurants alone, not anymore. Safe travels. PS….good pizza is my absolute favourite food.

I think many of us find it difficult to go out on our own. I think at the core of it is that we feel judged to be losers or something since we are alone. But that is so not true. Good that you pushed yourself beyond your comfort zone. I think folks who do this do eventually find it absolutely comfortable and enjoyable to go out alone. Sit and watch the people around you. And in reality, you are not really alone.

I feel the same going somewhere alone. Same as you, I LOVE being alone, but maybe it’s just being seen alone? I have no idea what it is either. I’m glad you went out though, it always feel good to face your fears! I’m realizing more and more watching your vlogs that I would have really struggled with the cabin crew life. Not speaking the local language, going out alone & even the struggle of working with new crew almost every flight, all look daunting to me. I hyped the Emirates dream up for SO many years growing up but I’m glad my paths were redirected.

Venice, what a beautiful destination Sophie. Years ago I spend my holydays not so far away .Last time you were in Italy , you didn't have a pizza now you get one .👍Pizza and pasta , lovely Italy . Hi Sophie, Venice is beautiful but life in the city is very expensive, you are very comfortable going out alone, I wouldn't be able to, some advice if I may, always keep a light raincoat in your suitcase, you gave me shivers with the sweater under the rain 🥶a greath hug from Piedmont 🌹🌹🌹

Hi Sophie, You are definitely not on your own feeling anxious going out on your own. I am ancient compared to you and I can feel the same about going to a place which I have visited before, I'm fine when I'm there it's the thought more than the place. It's making that first step. Nothing wrong in being careful going out in the evening on your own. Take care x

Soph, I take myself on lots of solo dates. But you at least speak English, so you order stuff in your mother-tongue language. Imagine how many others, like myself, don't speak the local language, but also we're not native English-speaking persons, so we have to get around in - what it is to us - a second language. Practice makes perfect and, in time, you'll learn to enjoy these little "trips" of courage. :) It's fun and gives you a chance to discover how friendly people can actually be.

@@SophieFayHart I found that it really helps to have it written down on my phone, if it's anything too complicated, especially at a new (to me) restaurant chain, and if there's a huge line behind me :)) Small steps indeed! 💜 (also people do not really care, not nearly as much as we think, because everyone has their own things on their mind, enough not to pay too much attention to others). I, too, am an overthinker, trying to balance my overly active brain. We have to try and give it a break from cooking up scenarios... :)

You really should try to step out that mentality Sophie don’t feel scared to go out life is for living you been independent and strong for such a long period moving countries from your family you’re dad is right even going to the restaurant is a achievement in itself try to get out bit more and you’ll start to get more comfortable with going out to places you can do it we believe in you 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
