It's 6 days away from dove season down here in california, I've found this Chanel and can't tell you what it's like counting down the days until opener lol. Great content bro, keep it up.🤙
I've been an instinctive archer, rifleman, and shotgunner for the better part of 45 years now. The archer in me recognizes that you might be experiencing what is called target panic. I highly encourage you to look it up as there are many tips on how to control / eliminate that problem. Most of the articles are geared towards archers because it is most prevalent with them but shooting a shotgun with just a bead sight, uses most of the same parts of the brain to accurately shoot (The bead or tip of the barrel vs the tip of an arrow to establish your point of aim along with instinctively forming the required gap to hit the target is almost the same.) I will also add that this is something that all marksmen go through at some point in their shooting lives so don't be hard on yourself. A couple of deep breaths and carry on! I wish we had dove hunting like this, up here in Alberta, Canada but I will have to suffice with experiencing it vicariously through your videos. Thanks for doing what you do!
Heck ya dude!!! You won’t be disappointed! I recommend putting it on the lightest settings for wake up and recording. I’d rather throw away clips then miss them
Very nice exited myself in northern Oklahoma personally I'm excited for upland bird hunting have a decent population of both wild quail and pheasant where I am in northern Oklahoma
@@JordansHarvest yeah planning on taking a trip west to the panhandle hopefully get into a few scaled quail also considering trying to hunt around Howard Kansas near the Flint hills to hopefully get into a few prairie Chickens
To each their own. Most of us waterfowl hunters/guides tend to use the tightest patterning choke possible so we are used to shooting tight patterns. Everyone has a bad day of shooting every once in awhile. I’ve shot hundreds of dove with an open choke only to fly away after literally knocking all the feathers off them so I personally use a tight choke to insure a clean kill or either a clean miss. I swear sometimes a doves feathers are made of Kevlar. Especially late season doves. Lol
Do you reload ? I do my lead shot ! I do have hunts where I have to shoot steel which sucks I haven’t started reloading steel but looks like imma have to. It’s probably coming to where it’s gunna be mandatory everywhere.
Jordan, just curious as to why you choose to shoot with an extra full choke? Is it to make the shooting more challenging? As a central CA resident having to use steel shot and using an over/under, I use a skeet and light modified. Using a semi I choose IC. Where I hunt, most shots are between 20-40 yards.
That’s cool. You’ve made yourself a better shot because it. Much less margin for error and much more sporting. When I started hunting doves, I thought I needed a full choke to get a nice tight pattern. Turned out I couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn. I remember reading an article about reasons you’re missing doves and first thing it said was “open up your choke.” 😅 Thank you for the content. I’ve certainly enjoyed it. Best of luck to you this season and safe hunting.
Shells 2.75 in chamber 3.5 do not give full power. You lose a large part of the energy inside the combustion chamber Better yet, chamber 3 inch or chamber 2.75 In order to give full force to the reliability of the shot
Not saying you’re wrong, but the guns with 3.5 chamber will effectively take birds. The reason that you see a few more birds that aren’t falling hard is do to him just shooting the ass off a few birds and shooting a shell with Lower antimony shot. The Federal 4 Pack shells usually run 2.5-3% antimony which is a really soft lead. A 4-6% shell cost a little more but you’ll notice more effective hits. If you don’t believe me, cut a shell open and take a pair of pliers and grab a BB. If you crush it with no effort, then the shell is low antimony. These shells don’t hold a pattern well and run out of gas quicker. Outside of 30 yards it will tell on you. They work and I’ve shot 1000’s of them. Just a known fact and raising a valid point. Jordan is a good hunter and a good shot. He just has bad days like all of us.
Great. You just have to go in to the settings and change it to the type of gun you’re using. Over/under, semi-auto, etc… Very easy to use and will help you become a better shot
Awesome show Sir !! as a master class sporting clays shooter I can tell you find yourself a sporting clay club start getting involved in Sporting Clay shooting and you will become a much better day of Hunter !! Keep it up I love to watch your shows !!
It doesn’t take 3 to take a bird down, and also it’s saves on ammo. What you really want is to get 2 or 3 birds with one shot. Not 3 shot for one bird.
