Solo Hike up Yr Aran in Snowdonia 🥾 boot disaster 

Laughed at the boots as it happened to me once - slacken the laces near to the toes and loop it round the sole ( if it ever happens again) - refreshing to see someone showing the reality of hiking

I went up Snowdon last Saturday and the Saturday before. There’s something about hiking alone that I find really special.. keep on hiking :)

As disappointing as it was to experience a major blowout along the trail, it was far better than having a twisted ankle and causing major pain. It was a very nice video with scenery none the less, and I’m happy you made it back to enjoy a delicious Flap Jack.😊 Well deserved.😁

Stick a couple of metres of gaffa tape, and small zip ties in the back of your first aid kit. Great for kit repairs.

I think it’s amazing how you show the problems we all face as sometime it can all be glorified and edited out. Keep doing what you do I enjoy it. Also altberg are a really good boot had mine 9/10 year now and still going strong deffo worth it just need to keep ontop of the leather and they will last many years.

Keeping it real in your videos 👍 I've walked most of the Watkins a couple of times, will have to try this walk. You should see if you can get a replacement set of boots for Peter Storm. Time to add duck tape to the kit I think 😁.

Hey! If you haven't brought new boots already I would recommend the salomon gtx boots, I've got a pair and there really good. I wouldn't feel so bad about this video as its still good and it highlights the problems anyone might have on the trail. The mountain will always be there 😁.

Well done and so sorry your footwear did not hold up, always gave some velcro straps or string for such emergencies. Certainly would write and complain to the manufacturers/suppliers. suggesting they refund or replace. Hope the next venture out is more comfortable and less windy. Excellent video. Great hikes don't always have to go as planned, this one was one of those. Real life adventures are more interesting and more relatable than over produced scripted stuff I think. That waterfall area with the old ruins is amazing! An old mill site probably? That cracked me up when you talked about the popular hang out spot, good place for a taco stand eh?😅 Happy trekking Elle!

Absolutely amazing respect you. Nice sound. I recommend you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point. Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower

Hi Elle. Oh poop. It was going well and your boot had other ideas. I've had exactly the same thing. Felt your pain at 5:43😔 without saying a word you gave a look as if this isn't happening. Then your boot said nope definitely isn’t happening. You are strong and brave, it's really not easy and you do it again and again. You also keep all things that go wrong in, that’s what makes you stand out as different to so many others.🫡 Walking for miles on a mountain rough terrain things will always go wrong. Yesterday I was doing a 7 mile circular walk, the Blorenge. Been to keepers pond where everyone swims quite a few times. Never been to the punchbowl there. As I was getting very near to the punchbowl it was muddy I slipped and fell face foward in thick mud. Never in my life has that happened. 😂 I was fuming. My face was covered and jacket and trousers. I was stinking. Just had to leave as quickly as possible. I was gutted, it was an epic fail. I wish I'd taken a photo. I wasn't happy at all. It happens, things go wrong. We dust down and go again. I'm going back again friday to finish. Didn't do much but I'll go back. On a positive, your boots fell apart mine did the same in Oct on Blaen y Glyn Uchaf. I will now carry a few elastic bands in my bag ready for when mine go again. Great honest vid. That day you probably wouldn’t have had views on the top. Get a tube of evostick contact adhesive, like the one your grandad would have had in the shed, and stick it back on.

I keep cable ties with me on a hike, ideal for things like broken boot laces etc. I was also looking forward to seeing soup...

hi, I would recommend you invest in a pair of scarpa boots ,they are a bit more expensive but worth every extra penny , love your honesty in your videos , looking forward to the next one ⛰👍

I always have duct tape in my bag incase things like this happen haha

Thank you again for your vlog. Boots should not fail like that. Poor. People who don't walk the mountain alone might think you're being too cautious, but wind, poor visibility and generally bad weather is a big deal when you're on your own on a mountain.

Very frustrated for you about those boots - they really should last more than a year. For me, failing to summit makes the return when you succeed, all the more satisfying. I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you go back (in new boots). I think it's good to post videos of it not working out. Authentic stuff.
