Travel day 22 on the east coast intracoastal waterway. Follow along as I’m traveling solo on this leg from Daytona Beach to a Merritt Island / Cape Canaveral area. We’ve been piloting our 2006 Meridian 341 sport bridge boat.
On this trip we anchor in a nice protected anchorage to spend the night on the hook after a nice day through Florida’s beautiful waters. But not before dodging crab traps and other boats!

derelict boats are a massive hazard here in the Florida Keys, they spill oil, fuel and sewage. liveaboards down here also pump sewage straight into the water. Nobody checks to see how often boats are pumped out.

That Coast Guard boat shown in the video is a aids to navigation team (ATON) small boat working buoys on the ICW. Every buoy or aid normally has a periodic maintenance schedule to scrape them, repaint them, change out broken equipment. It's hard work, so if you see them out there working make sure to say special thanks for keeping up the network of aids to navigation. It's a thankless job and doesn't have the glorious rewards like the other CG missions do, but it also one of the most important missions the CG has.

I'm really surprised that their are ad many sunken/abandoned boats as their are. Ide guess it has to do with the owners being responsible for the cost of removal, and if they don't, then ide guess the state gets involved, hires a salvage company to recover the sunken boats then sues the current Owners

Thanks for sharing your journey ! It has been so fun to watch. We pick up our boat next Thursday and it sure is fun seeing some great areas in the IWC to boat, not far from us in Sebastian. Many of this boats that are sunken are from storms and it takes many organizations coming together finding the owners , legalities , permits and monies to get them removed, sadly. We have one in our town that is still here years after hurricane Nicole. Thanks again and looking forward to checking out your other adventures now that we found your channel. Fair winds and following sea!

Great video. It reminded me of my two years stationed in Cape Canaveral with the Coast Guard back in the mid-eighties. My wife and I loved to watch the regular space shuttle lift-offs back then. The night launches were really impressive and shook our apartment building. Unfortunately, we were there when the shuttle Challenger blew up in 1986. Sad times around the space coast when that happened.

I have been following you for a year now. My wife and I bought an 07 341 last December. I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you for the hard work and time you put in to producing them. I would love to sit down and swap repair stories over a cold one. It has been a challenge to get " The Life" ( our boats name) ship shape but I love working on her. My wife is dead set on being at the coast. We are on a large fresh water lake in upstate South Carolina. I have boated on the intercoastal in Wilmington NC. I prefer fresh water for many reasons. Our question to you is, after the trip and the hurricane is it worth it being in Florida?
@AdventuresofHappyOurs

Congrats on your Meridian! I enjoy sharing my experiences and my hopes are always to help others as I learn myself. I have no regrets being here in Florida. Even after the hurricane. It’s a once in a lifetime event and likely won’t happen here again. But if it does, I’ll be better prepared. Paradise comes with a price. The boating here is amazing.

@doubled2727

Before displaying a Blue Line flag, you may want to consider that, while not illegal, many citizens, including those who strongly support law enforcement, have a negative reaction to this appropriation of the American flag. They may also want to consider whether they think it violates the U.S. Flag Code's standards. The provision of the Flag Code that opponents of the Blue Line flag say it violates is: "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature." I enjoy your videos.
