My third tutorial on solo impact drills in this series comes from Lanna Martial Arts (Martial Arts of Northern Thailand) and can be found on KingLanna's RU-vid channel. The inclusion of taps, slaps, and checks on the body are designed to replicate the feeling of impact when in contact with an opponent.
1. Straight punch
2. Corkscrew punch
3. Horizontal elbow
4. Reverse elbow
5. Back fist

Very relaxing. You can develope a lot from that. I will carry it further. It has no limitations.

I actually derived this many years ago from watching a Jerng demonstration on RU-vid. I'm now fortunately studying the art of Jerng from a very qualified teacher. It is as you said, without limitation!

Thank you for the kind words. I'll look into making a video showing the application. All my best!

Thank you for sharing this video! Been training in Kali for many years as well as many other martial arts I've studied in the past. This almost looks like a mix of Muay Thai and Kali. I think it's very hohest and respectable that you are giving credit to someone for a drill that you learned. That's Class Act right there dude! I think like Bruce Lee taught: Never let your cup be empty but never let cup get full. Always strive to learn new drills and new material! This keeps you growing rather than staying stagnant. Thanks again!

Thank you for the support and kind words. From my perspective it is better to document the journey than to create something that is lacking creativity and disingenuous. I'm glad you appreciate what I'm sharing with the RU-vid community!

You're very welcome. I tried to capture the essence of movement for beginners of Kali & Silat.

So many applications from simplicity. 1-3 as entries with 4 & 5 as follow up. Beautiful

Very glad you have the presence of mind to see that! People nowadays look down upon forms as being useless and outdated... however the skilled martial artist sees differently!

+Sakan Lam I was taught differently I suppose. Each one of those was a form in themselves when lower zone concepts were applied. I'm glad my father taught me the way he did. You rock.

just a quick question, I'm a bit confused. How does a straight punch lead into a cork screw punch in a real scenario? because your arm is already extended from the first punch. Thank you for the drills
@SakanLam
@SakanLam 7 лет назад
Notice on the 1st count of the straight punch that my elbow is still bent. If this connects then it is a punch using what we call 'short power'. If you happen to follow through with the connection then it would be a bicep or shoulder strike or 'short shot' as Sensei Erik Paulson calls it. Otherwise, if the first straight punch doesn't land you would just follow through with the corkscrew. Of course, this is all my own interpretation so don't take it as law. Thanks for the support and comment!

Would you drill this with left and right hand?
@SakanLam
@SakanLam 8 лет назад
Yes of course. All Kali / Silat practitioners need to be proficient with both hands!
