I was gonna say about the checkpoints, especially with the first symbol sections. The timed revives for a team is brutal too, one of the hardest missions I can recall.
It's better than being able to 1 shot all red bars like we've been able to do for years. I'm objectively bad at first-person shooters, and lightfall is the first destiny campaign I've ever had to be over leveled to beat.
Have only tried this mission once so far, as a Strand Hunter (with Assassins Cowl + Retrofit Escapade for heavy) and whilst I died a couple of times in the bit where you have to deposit motes then get in the hole, I got to the very last phase of the boss fight (last 3rd health) aaaaaand.... Died. So did the first 2 boss phases again okay, last phase again.... Died again. Had to quit the mission at that point as had to go out. Would have loved a checkpoint to come back to the boss fight 😂
Appreciate this video! Tried this earlier today and 4 hours and 57 deaths later I am the proud owner of the immovable refit catalyst lol. Took a lot of time getting the encounters down solo, but I don't think I ever would have had the patience for it without this guide. So thank you so much! Look forward to getting the other 2 catalysts next week.
This mission killed my enthusiasm for the game. There were other things going on but this was the nail in the coffin. I still play but way less than before.
Solo is super hard and annoying in this game. I was doing well solo while doing the campaign on legendary until I got to Calus. Couldn't beat him on my own in that mode and had to drop down to classic.
@@Decoy303 Look up the under stair cheese. I could not beat him either and even with two others we had our hands full, but the cheese makes it easy if you’re patient.
This mission is such a pain in the arse! I solo'd it once and vowed never to touch it again! 😂 I'm a weapon collector, but even I'm not willing to go through it multiple times for the catalysts, it's just not worth the effort. I love challenging games/D2 content but this mission just isn't fun to play through. The middle section with the mote dunking is unnecessarily difficult, in my opinion. It feels very buggy. Quite often I would get killed by the wyvern's shot even when the shielded lid was closed. Last season's mission had the perfect amount of challenge, in my opinion, it too could've done with a couple of checkpoints, but as difficulty goes, they nailed it, this mission missed the mark for me.
Just got back into Destiny and I've been watching your videos. Super helpful. The better solo player you are the better team player you are. I'll definitely not be trying this solo but I'll be using some of your load out tips and safe spaces.
I spent hours yesterday and now today ive been playing it since the morning i finally beat it once and the catalyst seems the best to me and i got the title i think I'm done. That first boss with the motes will crush you if you dont have the right combo of supers classes stunning moves and pure luck
I've been pushing all week and with no luck at all. I've got all of the hitting chests and even done it in the hard mode and no exotics to be found. I know everything has changed since your video on this weapon, I was hoping it would help all of us that cannot find all of the steps in a new video because for some reason every video i watched is awesome but many of us are stranded in this story missions and thanks for your time on a wonderful video.
The bucket part is what gets me. Im gonna try again with some of your suggestions before i get others to help me get legendary done. TY for this video it was great!
im not a titan player.. but i looked round for a decent walock devour build. i had been failing this mission since it came out.. never succeeded on the first boss stage. With this guide plus making a contraverse hold devour build i managed the base level mission first time with 3 deaths. Finally have vexcaliber one to each boss and one stupid fall. thanks... made me look at a complete change of strategy and it worked - appreciate it for anyone interested: weps: wishender, ikelos sub (surrounded/grave robber), commemoration (rampage/reconstruction) aspects: chaos accelerant , feed the void fragments: harvest, instability, undermining, remnants stats/: 2, 5, 10, 10, 3, 2 contraverse hold harmonic and kinetic siphon + heavy finder grenade kickstart + bolstrering detonation +firepower sniper and solar resist + charged up void and arc surge mods + stacks on stacks 2 utility kickstart + bomber
I've been a loyal Destiny player since beta - and I don't know if I've ever been so pissed off at anything in my life more than this mission. I was watching this video right before going into the final fight to see if I can pick up anything right before going in and it fricken BOOTED ME! I love you Bungie and I HATE you with every fiber of my existence. I stayed up all night trying to solo this. In another attempt, I got to the end, had the boss on the ropes, jumped behind the fountain (not knowing that was a thing) out of desperation because I was almost dead and I was surprised that I picked up 2 rockets and they couldn't seem to see me. When my health recovered I squatted down slid over and took aim and I guess a rocket from a ghorn can't make it through MIST because it KILLED me. Bungie!!! I hate you pencil necked code writing a$$holes. And I love you. I'm 20 hours into it and it takes forever. WHY NOT A CHECKPOINT??! UPDATE: A week later and another 30 hours of failing at this and I finally beat it solo. Putting the sniper in the primary slot with triple tap, explosive payload, Nano tracer rockets, (The Volta Bracket) was the difference. A real game changer. I had to get use to it, but it puts a crap ton of damage on the Boss in the last 1/3 of the run.) I was an 1820 Hunter - Arc, Assassin's Cowl). P.S. Bungie, I'm still a little miffed at you but I still love you....(if it gets cold enough.)
I remember last season how hard of a time I had doing solo legend seraph station- and how proud I was when I solo’d it. And now here we are, Avalon is a nightmare of a mission. I have solo it on normal, but on legendary? I really doubt it 😩
Thanks for showing a run without the META commemoration build. 90+% of content on this mission shows the run with that god roll heavy. I will try this out again, now, after watching this vid. SUBBED
@@Ebontis i just got the disorienting grenade launcher from zavala. i had one that the grenade wouldn't go off for a while. hoping this one will work better. tried running it with 3 of us. didn't work. so going to try solo. soon. hopefully.
@@Ebontis well i guess i'm just garbage at the game. i'm not stressing myself out and running this mission anymore. tried it solo and still couldn't get it. the dumb game doesn't even tell you how many mote things you have. so when you go deposit, ooops, sorry you are 1 shy. by then, chickens are out and you have no cover. i'm dead. i will try again when i have THE META weapons for this. thanks again for the vid! keep up the great work!
I’m not a beast at this game by any means above average I would say and I have just cleared this using only a kinetic bow with explosive head, null composure, and the deterministic chaos, along with my void Hunter, it does get hectic at times but it is totally doable solo, no way I would want to try it flawless though.
I have run this mission so many times and have all the chests and done it on the hardest with other players, and none have got anything. What are we're doing wrong.
Great vid. I cannot do Legend difficulty, but this got me through regular difficulty. The tip on the final section to defeat Brakion was huge. Good work!
Not sure if you are aware of this but you can shoot through the hydras shields when you have anti-barrier rounds from volitile rounds. I was literally screaming at my screen watching it! Lol It seemed like you didn’t know when you were fighting the hydra boss bc you kept on trying to shoot around the shields even when you had anti-barrier rounds in your LMG. I love this seasons artifact mods and it’s gonna suck when this season ends!

I was by accident doing it yesterday also with Titan Void and by accident a very similar build, but i was using and arc auto rifle on the second slot. The survivability tips you gave here will certainly be helpful, Almost did it solo. Gonna try again! And can someone tell me how many seconds the bubble for Ward of Dawn stays active? Well of Radiance has a countdown, the bubble one is not appearing.
Shoot to loot in your primary weapon slot would work well for final boss phase also. ie a bow with shoot to loot and archers or explosive (if there is such a roll?),this would help replenish heavy weapon plus could help with ad clear? awesome vid though! makes me want to attempt this again!
Wish-Ender can shoot through Brakion's 2nd phase shield. You can actually skip doing the lock & key phase & just shoot the boss from the far left side when you 1st drop in. On the 3rd phase the left waterfall is safer, he stays at a distance 90% of the time.
Question so it’s better to do this solo like the campaign on legendary? I would like to do it on my void hunter if you have a build you would recommend.
I wonder what the statistics are for this quest dungeon. I was going to wrap up the season by doing this and unlock all the Glaive stuff in a single run, but proceeded to read it does not work like that this season. Which ended up with me not bothering at all. Nothing about this Glaive justifies the hardships of doing this dungeon minimum four-five times - some on legendary - with such poor checkpoints and the time it takes to do the quirky extra stuff. Hard pass.
Yep yep. Some people keep having issues with void weapons channeling too, idk what the deal is with it, some ppl report getting kicked to orbit. I had issues in this mission with unraveling rounds locking my game when it first launched, and I'd have to close app and relaunch, until I just took it off. That might be from the sheer volume of adds having unraveling rounds working on all of them lol. Idk if it's still an issue tbh. I like the weapons you chose for this though, pretty much what I went with too. Thanks for the upload^^

@CVSooner777 I use arc conduction. pop well get shoulder shooter buddy all arc kills send conducive arcs to me giving more abilities to spam. Any general arc video guide will help you. You need all the mods just the basics.
@CVSooner777 I use Exotic bow and a arc grenade launcher and heavy of your choice. That middle section drop a well at the dunk tower. By the time you dunk you will another to drop to stay safe. Don't save wells. Drop them! Run thru if needed.
I solo’d this 3 times with Le Mon and Gyrfalcon. The first encounter is insanely easy because of invis and devour. The bosses are just endurance tests and managing invisibility. Not easy but manageable. Third time I almost gave up though because I did the runs back to back. Brakion 3rd phase can get kinda bullshit if stylish execution doesn’t proc. Oh one thing, I would slot in void weapon holster. Having a full machine gun when you need it and not having to worry about reloading is really nice.
I thought it was pretty easy at 1800 was it annoying hell yea. Is it long hell yea is it hard I guess that depends on the player. This is how I imagine if Bungie decided to make more solo content

This quest is so BS, yoiu have to be in the right spot to deposit, if you're off you get killed even if your have a void overshield on. Your vid is good I'm not but i'm learning from your vid.
This mission is designed for streamers and it's extremely frustrating by design. the glaive itself has been nerfed to a stupid level. If you want to give hours of your life to bungee for almost no return, go for it they'll get rich and you will promote more bad design
I was struggling with this for awhile but i kinda now have a good understanding of how to do it. I feel like gyrfalcons with burried bloodline will work nicely in here
This thing needs to be tuned down. Raid is 100 times harder than this mission. I finally was able to do it i'd never even try to do a flawless run of this. There is no real reason to do so.
