Grew up outdoors as an Eagle Scout. Taught wilderness survival. My favorite thing I’ve learned and use is that hillbilly rake. Genius.

Sir! I watch and like all your videos religiously, but the overnighters are where it's at.

Corp, whenever I go out I take a trash bag. Like a strong garden bag in the UK. I pickup what is see and clean as I go. IF SHTF a dumped mattress is tinder and a plastic bottle is a water carrier OR cordage. The most important thing I gain from your channel (apart from the great and generous and justified use of bacon) is the fact that you talk through your thought process providing the 'how'! I really appreciate you showing some of the struggles. Other RU-vidrs always try to make it look perfect and easy. First timers in the woods could get discouraged and quit if things didn't go as well as it does for seasoned pros online. You help show that you should never quit, never give up, that skills will improve with practice and things may not work right the first time.

Tree Fort in the Woods... this is my personal opinion, so as always, YMMV. I watch your channel (and others) to learn survival skills. The tree fort and all of the fort videos, while entertaining, are not what I am primarily interested in seeing. Don't get me wrong, I watch them all and all the way through but I don't have the drive to watch them right away. THIS video on the other hand, is exactly what I come to Corporal's Corner to watch.

That is the most practical bottle rope making technique I've ever seen. Makes me feel so stupid for not thinking how simple it could be. One less tool a person needs in their kit.

Video series idea: Bunker in the woods. Build a "defensible" bunker in the woods that has your camp site, maybe a wall around it, and a couple other buildings besides your bed/hut.

It's interesting. When I scroll the recommended videos, it's populated with lots of your videos (because I watch them regularly). When I do the same for other RU-vidrs (e.g. Blackie Thomas) I don't see many of their videos recommended. So, something you (and I) are doing is making a difference. Just sucks you have to jump through so many hoops to get the circulation you deserve. You are doing great work. Keep it up, sir.

I am in the naval cadets (14) and I just noticed how at 7:25 is how we make shear legs, a “primitive” lifting device used to load and off load ships as well as use on land. They are still used on ships today. Using an overhand knot then (usually) wrapping 4 loops around it, 13 spirals going down the length of the two “legs” then 4 spirals going around the lashings vertically to seal and tighten it with a clove hitch as he then shows. Typically they would use 4-5 inch thick rope and large telephone pole sized logs as their legs.

I love the drone footage you’re using as an intro, very complimentary to the theme of your channel. Your Fort videos are great but I must admit I like the solo overnighters maybe a bit more. This one was pure bushcraft with imagination and creativity and super minimal kit. Bottle cordage, bark cordage, outstanding AF!

People would be surprised how much "cordage" you can get from a 2-liter bottle AND how strong it is! On a side note: I remember when freedom of speech was actually free and cherished, unfortunately not so much anymore!

The bushcraft plastic cordage skill was great. I have seen similar devices fabricated from metal, but that is not something I would carry in a get home bag. Simple and effective is the way to go.
