Ovens ventures into the bush for a one item solo overnight, proving that a sandwich bag could be the fire starting key to his (or your) survival in a dire situation. Follow Greg on this adventure, as he finds outdoor comfort in the flimsy plastic that contained yesterday's lunch.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

You can also manage the same with ice, you hand melt it into a lens or similar shape.. but a lot more contingent on the season.

"I'm Greg Ovens. I'm a survivalist. I don't need a coat." That demonstrates so many survival and Survivalist points. One has to pause for a minute to count them all. I'm glad Zac left that in, not just for the humour. It shows the Greg we've come to watch but it also shows that even a Survivalist of Greg's caliber demonstrating how to survive in this situation (with nothing but the shirt on his back) finds the situation nearly unbearable. Someone with his level of knowledge and skill. And from the sounds of it he may never do this, without a coat, ever, again; at least not on purpose. But he did it to show us what to do, if it should happen to us. So all the humour aside, thanks Greg. Many Survivalists may be out there showing people how to survive but your video is the one they are going to remember. You are the Wacky Science Teacher of Survival. DON'T CHANGE A THING. I think every kid (now grown-up) wanted to be this dude (no matter what culture, color or creed). We all played in the forest as kids, even growing up in the city we rode our bikes to the nearest patch of trees. Climbing trees, tree forts, making bow and arrows was normal. This guy is all of us as kids and who we want to be as adults. AWESOME!!

I have been in Scouts, taught by Elders, Military, read tons of survival books and practiced much of it for my 50 yrs and have NEVER heard of the sandwich bag method. Good on you, Greg! My Hubby and I really enjoy your videos! Great information and wonderful delivery! When we go hiking we always bring a knife, a poncho. a lighter, and a ferro rod, and a baggie! But the baggie is to collect water from plants, saw in a video put the bag over some leaves on a tree and in the morning there will be some water in the bag. Havent tried it yet thought.

It very effective, yes you can start a fire like that. What's the difference using a magnifying glass or a lense of some sort to start a fire. I have both in my BOB. (Bug Out Bag) the day is almost here!!

I heard of buildings reflecting the light and burning the paint off vehicles. New ones have to put special coatings on the windows now to stop this.

I was skeptical about him actually staying the night ( untill I re watch the bit before he went to bed - shadows are being cast from the west " left side of frame" when he goes to bed and the east " right side of frame" when he wakes up) good on ya mate

You thought he faked staying out there? Well i never thought of that but if youre going to be skeptical, maybe he stayed in his truck and just filmed a bit of him laying down during those sun times lol 😄 And even if he did, hes GREG and has survived much longer and worse conditions out there. Guess nobody would know for sure sure unless they just trust his word and the whole nights sleep was filmed. Maybe Zach can put the sleeping part on fast speed next time to help the doubters 😄 i believe in healthy skepticism. I've got a sandwich bag and im going out to try this today. Thanks Greg!

@Donnie V. I lost credibility? You mean you give people credit when you know nothing about them? Well that seems like a terrible idea because you can be tricked that way. You quoted me wrong here. I didnt say I JUST found out. I found out 5+ years ago by looking at all the evidence for a stationary flat earth and the other side of the argument which includes only NASA computer-generated images and lies they have been caught in. And that blew my mind, and reminded me not to trust things unless I can see them myself. Like SEA LEVEL. I can observe that reality myself. ANd hey, people circumnavigating proves earth is flat as well though, so those are good ones! And if you want to use the bible as evidence then I like the parts about the firmament.

Fort Mac resident here! Loving your videos. Can vouch for the clouds of mosquitoes and flies. There's times in the bush when you're litterally breathing them in. Our winters are hell here too. It's currently about -40C.
